TL;DR: Dr. Levine & his staff are friendly and knowledgeable. SOAH is cost-conscious, and it is very easy to make appointments and learn more about our animal friends. The long version: South Orange Animal Hospital is GREAT! Ive been in the area for about a year now and have been looking for a vet that I love as much as (or better!) than the one back in New Orleans. I visited some in other vets before hearing of SOAH, and cannot be happier with the experience here. Setting up an appointment was easy (I would suggest calling instead of doing the online appointment service). The front office was definitely busy with people checking in and out, but I never felt pushed aside or ignored. The staff made an effort to address me quickly and were very friendly. I visited the vet for an annual check up for my cat. The veterinarian (Dr. Marc Levine) was very friendly and knowledgeable. I had several questions regarding food brands, how to maintain my cats healthy weight, etc (Im an infamous "helicopter mom" with my friends, so you can imagine how many questions I had for the poor vet). Dr. Levine was great and answered each question with aplomb. The price of the visit was definitely fair. Previous vets Id seen had silly charges like nail clipping, fecal tests, blood tests, etc. Dr. Levine was level-headed enough to know that they were unnecessary tests/costs and didnt push them on me.

South Orange Animal Hospital, staffed by Doctors Levine and Knight, have served us well since we moved into the area. Generally I deal with Doctor Levine, who has a good demeanor, and also hesitates to prescribe medicine when it isnt necessary. Ive been to vets who have encouraged needless surgery for our dog, and Doctor Levine definitely does not do that. Hes also helped us get through a series of injuries and illnesses, and has, for more urgent cases, made time for us long after the office was supposed to close. Hes even sent us home on multiple occasions saying, "no charge." Look, this is where were going to go as Maggies reaches her late years. At this point I wouldnt imagine taking her anywhere else for her health care. Like I said, we havent dealt frequently with Doctor Knight, but Ive been happy with her during the few visits weve spent with her. The staff has never been a problem, and ask about Maggie when I drop in without her.

Our young dog Lucy completely changed over a week from healthy to almost unable to walk. Dr. Knight diagnosed her with Addisons Disease upon examination -- and Dr. Levine confirmed with blood work. She was so weak that even after getting her proper meds she was in and out of their care for 3 days getting IVs etc. They are both wonderful vets and Lucy is back to her normal self (on the proper medication). I cannot thank them both enough. I have used South Orange Animal Hospital for 18 years and would never go anywhere else. Dr. Levine was our vet when we had to make the very difficult decision to put our previous dogs to sleep. His care for my dogs (and compassionate talks with us) during those times were outstanding.

I have relied on the staff at South Orange Animal Hospital for the care of my pets for more than 25 years. I have always found the staff to be professional, courteous and extremely caring and sensitive regarding the care of my pets. Dr. Levine is an exceptionally qualified vet in whom I have total confidence. The addition of Dr. Knight rounds out the professional capabilities of the team at the facility. The technicians and receptionists are also extremely caring and professional. I rely on South Orange Animal Hospital not only for my pets health care needs, but also board my dog at the facility. I am confident that my pet receives superior care and love from the very capable team.

We have been taking our dog, Molly, to Dr. Levine and the SOAH staff ever since we adopted her 13 years ago. Everyone is so warm and caring, and ready to help with care and advice. Some years ago, Molly had become quite overweight, and the vet recommended a diet, which, I am convinced, has helped her live a long, active life. About a year ago, when our very elderly and ill cat had reached lifes end, the front-desk staff and Dr. Levine were so kind and gentle with us and the cat that the experience was not as painful as I had expected. Im certainly not saying it was an easy experience, just that they helped a great deal. I recommend Dr. Levine and his practice highly.

For years our family has been going to South Orange Animal Hospital. Dr. Levine has been so kind and helpful during all of our visits dating back at least ten years. On two separate occasions, ten+ years apart and with two different dogs, Dr. Levine rushed back to the office after closing to help with severe allergic reactions. He promptly answered our call when we noticed a reaction in our dogs (again, on two separate occasions) and both times told us to meet him ASAP at the office where he quickly assessed the situation and gave our pups what they needed to feel better. We trust Dr. Levine and have a tremendous sense of gratitude for his service.

Dr. Levine is my vet of choice. Many years ago, he was extremely supportive through serious sugical considerations and then, at the end of my first dogs life. There was no question that he would be my second dogs vet. He is very straightforward, level headed, and down to earth. He treats my second fearful rescue dog with calmness and patience, rather than pity and worry, and she has grown to trust him. The staff are all very kind and helpful. If I have a situation where I need to see Dr. Levine right away, they do their best to accommodate my needs. I would not hesitate to go to South Orange Animal Hospital with my third dog.

After searching for a good vet for the better part of 10 years, I have lucked out by finding Dr. Knight and Dr. Levine at SO animal hospital. I have brought both my dog and cat here and have had warm, caring and extremely professional care for my pets. My dog had to have a growth removed from her eye last July and Dr. Knight did an incredible job with the surgical procedure. This office offers true, personal care for your animals that some other vet offices have gotten away from over the years. I travel from the Morristown area, and it is well worth the trip!

We have used SOAH for 3 pets (consecutively) and have always found them to be wonderful. Marc is a very thoughtful, caring individual and his staff is most helpful. Our first pet (Tutta)was the oldest in his practice after he first acquired the clinic and he treated her with great compassion. He was responsible for our getting our additional pets, considering us to be good pet parents - he gave us years of joy with our beloved Daisy and currently our winsome Cocca. His manner is always kind, patient, calm, reassuring and thoughtful. What more could we ask?

Dr Marc Levine and the SO Animal Hospital saved my best friend, Tucker. As a first time patient, Dr. Marc Levine is the consummate professional - checking the past history, administering the appropriate tests and correctly diagnosing the problem. Within 48-hours Tucker was well on his way to a full recovery from a tick borne virus with follow-up phone calls from the vet himself checking on his condition.
