Took our son to see the pediatric eye doctor We waited months for this appointment. Upon arrival we were greeted by a snobby staff. The surgical center and the pediatric wing are in the same area, so people kept coming in to tell the kids to be quiet. (Mind you they are all under 2 waiting with dilated eyes screaming and playing. ) Then after waiting a half hour for us to get in to get the eyes dilated we had to wait another hour and a half to be seen. This is where the worst part happened. I had my son on my lap, hes tired already. Before even talking to my son the nurse grabbed my sons head and they started the exam. He screamed to the point where I asked for a break so he could gather himself. Literally 30 seconds! The doctor then told the nurse to hold his head again. We finished the exam and we left the office with tears, a red face and hand prints from the nurse. If his face bruises, we will be taking photos and creating a lawsuit. They were unfriendly, impersonal, and to an 20 month old child this was traumatic and I truly hope that he doesnt remember this. They are supposedly the best eye doctors in the state but not for children. I will be ensuring his pediatrician knows about this as well as any other person who recommend this place to us.

Been a patient at MEC for over two years with a significant cornea issue. I have found Dr Zacks and Dr Walters very professional and experienced. Because of their expertise, I have excellent vision back. My only complaint would be with billing for services. I had a lens implanted and it became cloudy after a couple of years. It was cleared up with a brief 5 minute laser procedure. I didnt mind paying the physicians fee of over $850 (most covered by insurance), but on the next billing MEC tacked on another $980 "Facility" charge. I was a bit upset at this fee for such a short procedure that wasnt done in a surgical setting, so why was I charged a Facility Fee ? Spoke to billing office and told that the fee was correct and that was pretty much the way it was. Maybe they are used to most of their billing going through Medicare without being contested! My insurance paid about 85% and I was surprised. This seems a bit excessive for the type of procedure performed and the brief time I was in a small exam-type room. I will make a complaint to Augusta about this as it comes close to fee gouging for patients. Will pay the bill grudgingly!

I see my experience with SNOBBY STAFF was not alone, I have been seen by these Doctors for years, even had surgery there. I just changed jobs that week, I did not have my insurance card YET. however i did have a phone number and a group ID for the coverage for them to verify. THEY COULD NOT BE BOTHERED TO CALL. I took time off from work , the appointment got cancelled because of the staff being uncooperative, and NOT PATIENT CENTERED. they kept telling me that I didnt have insurance and treated me as if I walked in off the street and they had never seen me before. I have made NUMEROUS CALLS to the OPERATIONS Manager to complain, i keep getting voice mail, I do leave a message and it sounds like she could care less to even call me back . NOT PATIENT CENTERED AT ALL!!!

Tried to re-schedule with Dr. Jeffrey Moore, impatience phone staff. I was also trying to get an estimate for the retinal hole consult, the answer from the staff is: Unable to give an estimate because of not sure what kind of tests required. Despite that, and then she said probably from $300 to $500 and up...OK? Gave me the feeling that she (the staff) was too busy and try to hang up the phone. I confirmed with the new scheduled date with her and end the conversation. I called back a few minute later, left a message in the machine to cancel my appointment. The frontline employee is the image for the clinic to me, I just dont have faith to have them do any work on my eyes!

A few days after I had posted my negative review on google, I received a phone call from Dr. Berman. He expressed his sincere apology on behalf of the entire practice for my bad experience mainly due to long wait times. He assured me that he and his team are taking the negative feedback very seriously and looking into how they can continue to improve their level of service. I personally felt his care and passion for his work and was very encouraged by his courteous initiative. I have since then removed my negative comments and upgraded my review. I have a follow up apt for my son in 1yr and looking forward giving the experience 5 stars!

Ive been a patient of John Walters for years, I followed him here from his previous practice. John is a great doc, always very professional and courteous. It did take a long time to get an appointment, I booked a July appointment in April. The check in process was pretty easy, as I was sent all the paperwork in the mail to fill out ahead of time. I will say there was only one receptionist checking in patients for 4 providers. I arrived the recommended 15 minutes early for my appointment, but had to wait 10 minutes to check in. The staff are polite, professional, and courteous. I cant say enough good things about Dr John and his team.

My daughter has been treated by both Dr.Berman and Dr,Zachs since she was five weeks old. She was born with a cataract in her left eye and had her first surgery at almost six weeks. Granted the secretarys may not always be the nicest and the wait can be extremely long, but I am glad that my daughter has one of the best eye specialist in the state because without then she wouldnt be able to see out of her left eye. My daughter is now 8 and hates just about everything, but still admits that she loves seeing Dr.Berman.

The only good thing is they got us in right away. Other than that the receptionist was rude, the nurse was pushy and Dr. Berman was very rude. He held my sons head (4month old) with force without asking for assistance. He then told me the same thing Ive been hearing and basically told me it was a waste of our time to go. Im praying theres a different pediatric eye dr that can fix my sons nasty tear duct thats stinky and bothering my poor lil one. I do not want to go back to this place!

So far, so good - after my one-yr-old broke my glasses frame, I took it to the optical shop, and the lady there repaired it for free, bless her heart, as well as she could. Ive booked a first eye appointment there and will report back if theres any change in my opinion of the place.

Called for an appointment and was promised a call back the next day because they were too busy to help me the day I called. They never called back. Unimpressed with the staff. I wont be calling again.
