Okemos Animal Hospital, Dr. Alfonso and Dr. Perkowski are the best this area has to offer. I have never met a vet staff so kind, perceptive, flexible, and responsive as this staff. Our dog Daisy has been coming to OAH for the three (almost four) years that weve had her and we have never been let down. Honestly, we are more and more happy with our decision to bring her here every time we visit! Dr. Alfonso is Daisys primary vet, and he always treats her with such a sense of humor and softness needed with a more anxious rescue dog. He is always thorough, asking questions to make sure we understand, and helps us feel empowered to make choices in her health plan. She is relatively free of medical issues, but has started showing signs of arthritis this past winter and has had a few other non-routine visits. Quite recently, Daisy had a medical emergency right before a scheduled family trip. When our planned boarder and their medical facility was unprepared to take her, Dr. Perkowski was there to save the day (quite literally.) When I spoke to the receptionist (who are all VERY kind), I spoke directly with Dr. Perkowski and she calmly walked me through the next steps. She was ready as soon as I arrived with Daisy to do the necessary procedure, and treated me with such compassion and kindness as she explained all the necessary steps. They even made some last minute arrangements to help us with Daisy over the weekend so we could still go on our trip. Honestly, both doctors went above and beyond to keep Daisy safe and healthy and to make our trip possible. They in no way needed to do what they did, but they did it because they love what they do and love to see animals happy and healthy. I simply cannot say enough good things. We would pay most anything to keep Daisy happy and healthy, but Okemos Animal Hospital is always honest (and usually comes in under) their quotes. I never feel like I am being nickel and dimed and have never once felt overcharged. I will be a client of Dr. Alfonso and Dr. Perkowski for as long as Im in the area and will always recommend their practice.

Dr. Alfonso is a wonderful vet - he and his staff genuinely care about the well-being of your pets. The office is pristine and you are always greeted by a smiling face. A while back, my dog was having some persistent GI troubles so I called after hours expecting to leave a message, but instead my call was answered by Dr. Alfonso himself. He talked me through what to do and made an appointment for me to bring her in. More recently, I brought her in to have a growth on her leg looked at - he spent more than enough time with me explaining his thoughts on the growth, our options, the procedure, and giving an estimate. While I cannot immediately justify having this elective surgery, it is by no means exorbitantly expensive and I will abso-freaking-lutely be going to him when it is time for her to have the growth removed. He is a great veterinarian with (in my experience) competitive pricing, and I trust him fully.

I cant believe any of these posts that say Dr. Alfonso is uncaring or inadequate. We have taken our animals there for years now and he is the best vet we have ever had. He even responds to my emails! He and the staff there are always very compassionate and we currently have a cat on hospice that he is treating. Weve had animals all our lives and have had vets in the Detroit and Lansing area and Dr. Alfonso is the best weve ever had. I recommend him to everyone I know that needs a vet and would never go anywhere else.

We bring our dog to Dr. Alfonso at Okemos Animal Hospital and really love it there. Dr. A is really helpful and great at explaining what is going on with your dog and what your options are. Our dog had to have major surgery to remove something obstructing his intestines, and Dr. A did a great job walking us through things, making us feel comfortable, and did an excellent job with the surgery and aftercare. We highly recommend OAH.

Do not take your pet to Dr. Alfonso. Its unfortunate because I really liked Dr. Perkowski but even when I would specifically request to see her, theyd still stick me with Dr. Alfonso. He has no compassion, lacks basic medical knowledge, and charges for unnecessary tests. He doesnt care whether your pet lives or dies, just about you paying your bill.

We have been going to Okemos Animal Hospital for 10.5 years. Dr. Alfonso and his staff are wonderful. They have taken great care of both of our dogs. Dr. Alfonso takes the time and care each time we have an appointment. He is always available to answer any questions. I recommend him to anyone that is looking for a vet.

Friendly, knowledgeable staff. I have brought my pets here for 9 years and they have received top notch care. Boarding is also offered for patients so when Im out of town I know my pets are being well cared for. I highly recommend Okemos Animal Hospital!

I took my dog in to get neutered and Dr Alfonso killed him. No explanation, and worse yet, he was cold and uncaring at our familys loss. I should have known better to leave when I saw ants carrying dried skin across the dirty floors. Beware!
