I normally do not write reviews, but in this case I had to make an exception. I had been suffering from shoulder pain for years and after trying different medications and several Physical Therapists with no success, I was resigned to living with it. I was recommended to ProStaff in Rockaway by a friend and decided to give it a try. I was skeptical, but after meeting with Dr. Rich, he laid out a personalized plan for me and Im happy to say that for the first time in 3 years Im able to have full use of the shoulder with zero pain! What made my experience unique is that unlike other Physical Therapists I had seen, Rich took the time to explain the diagnosis, what the regimen he developed was going to address, why he was proceeding a certain way and more importantly he gave me realistic expectations. He took a personal interest which became readily apparent, not just the "... do this exercise", which I had come to expect from previous Physical Therapists. He made a believer out of me and Im disappointed that I can only give him 5 stars. He knows his stuff.

I came to pro staff after my second knee surgery. This one requiring a lot more work but I felt less pain and had a better recovery then my last one and I owe that mostly to Rich. The facility was always clean, he always gave you the 1 on 1 attention you needed. Always very professional and kept your attention with different exercises that challenged you. Working the night shift my schedule is very busy and he was always very accommodating to that. He would always send my doctor a note on how I was doing when he knew I was going for my next appointment and he was always very knowledgeable with any question I asked him. I was back to work in six weeks and back on the softball field in 6 months which was my main goal and I could not be any happier. I would recommend rich to anyone!

I recently underwent surgery for a meniscus tear in my right knee. After one week of rest and ice, I started my physical therapy with Dr. Sommerkorn. I was extremely happy with the quick recovery and continued progress I made in gaining strength back in my knee. Rich has a wide variety of exercises to keep things interesting and challenging. Rich is very personable and is willing to work with varying schedules to help accommodate his patients. I highly recommend Dr. Sommerkorn at Pro Staff in Rockaway.

A++ I started therapy with Rich Sommercorn about 2 months ago after undergoing a serious and complex surgery to my neck involving C3-C7. Once I began working with Rich, I immediately experienced a significant reduction in pain, increasing mobility and strength. He is extremely professional and knowledgeable, yet makes everyone feel comfortable and relaxed. I always leave feeling renewed and energized. Rich is the best. I went in with an ailing shoulder and a nagging hip injury from weightlifting. Rich pin pointed the issues with my form and offered suggestions of how I could avoid further injury. He taped my shoulder (3 times to get it right) and I felt no pain when I went to train later that day. As for my hip, he taught me how to preform a "cross lateral massage" on the tender area. I have no more pain and I didnt miss a training session. Thank you, Rich!

Over the past few years I have seen numerous physical therapists but Rich has always been my favorite, in fact when he moved to the Rockaway office I followed him because of that. Rich is an amazing physical therapist and your health and how to better his patients is always his number one priority. He really knows what he is doing and I would recommend Rich any day as a physical therapist for a faster road to recovery!
