Capitol Hill Animal Clinic is one of the best vets Ive ever been to. Both of their doctors are knowledgable, kind towards animals, willing to spend a substantial amount of time with you explaining what is going on and explaining treatment options. I have taken my cat to them twice now, once during the summer, when he was vomitting, and the doctor gave me a clear breakdown of costs before I agreed to tests and treatment, and we decided on a good treatment plan for my cat. My cat recovered, but unfortunately, I had to take him back to the vet this week because he was very sick with liver disease and anemia. Dr. Jim was very helpful in trying to diagnose the problem and concious of my budget. He spent a TON of time with me, explaining different diagnosis options and, when we finally figured out what was wrong, different treatment options and he suggested a helpful path for moving forward. My cat got worse, however, and so I had to take him back to put him to sleep. Dr. Jim and the technicians were extremely helpful and caring, and I really appreciate their kind words and their kind treatment of my cat. I would highly recommend Capitol HIll Animal Clinic to anyone.

Very disappointed. I have an old dog who needed a well dog visit before going to a dog sitter for Christmas. She only needed a few shots and I walked away with over $500 worth of charges, for a very healthy old dog! I stressed at the beginning that I didnt want any unnecessary care, I walked out feeling I had been had and that my love for my dog had been manipulated into purchasing very unnecessary items. Then, the next day, they called to let me know that had inaccurately charged me for something, and in fact it cost MORE than I was initially charged. Needless to say, I was very upset and will NOT be going back. Going to vets has become so prohibitively expensive, that I will not be able to adopt another dog when my sweet old girl passes, simply because I cant afford the incredibly high costs at vets. Its so frustrating that I wont be able to give another dog a good home because I cant afford these escalating prices with no guarantee of good care. Isnt there another option??

The pet care was decent, about what youd expect. But they were so unbelievably expensive that I will never consider returning here, even though I live right down the street. I took both my cat and dog in for their regular checkups and vaccines only to have them charge me well over 3x the price I paid at my last vet. On top of that, the Vet guilted me into services by "highly recommending" a couple shots and services that I researched later only to find that they were completely elective and not required. At no point did they indicate that their prices would be so obscene until I had waited in the lobby for 15min after my appt and was running so late that I couldnt bear to stick around and complain. This single visit, without anything special cost me nearly $600. They even charged me $5 for cleaning up the (very normal amount of) pet hair after the appointment! If you have ANY concern at all for your checkbook, then you avoid this veterinarian!

Capitol Hill Vet Clinic is amazing! I took my Italian Greyhound puppy in for his first visit and they educated me about this breed in great detail. He had also picked up something (possibly from the breeder) and they gave me everything necessary to take care of him and all the information there is about the disease. They also gave me samples of flea control. The clinic also worked out a plan for his next shots, neutering, ect. After my visit they continually followed up to check on him. They forgot to charge me for one of the vaccines, but I didnt mind because the prices are very fair and so I paid it. Everyone was extremely informative, helpful, and friendly. I strongly recommend it!

I cant thank Dr. Murphy enough for the care and concern he exhibited for my failing cat BabyCat. He is so knowledgeable, intuitive, and kind. He looks at your pet as whole - he doesnt treat just one symptom. He takes time to explain things to you. He gives you options and recommendations He is gifted in understanding animals and people. I am truly grateful to him. I highly recommend and cant thank him enough. Hes a fantastic vet - the best Ive been to, and Ive been to many. Thank you again, Dr. Murphy.

I have been a client of Capitol Hill Animal Clinic for many years, going back to when it opened. Compared to other clinics in the city, they do a very thorough and professional job at a very reasonable cost. Dr. Dan Murphy especially is extremely knowledgeable, takes his time with your pet and explains what needs to be done and why. Dr. Muhlbacher is a bit more imperious but is still very competent. The staff are very helpful. Highly recommend.

these people sold me Interceptor for 220 dollars. When I returned it, the receptionist acknowledged it was supposed to be about 20, but the vet said it was an expensive product (and supposed to be 220 dollars!) These people will try to con you out of money. My dog has arthritic knees but these vets were recommending ridiculous surgery and other innovative procedures...

Was suspicious when I walked in and saw all kinds of meds for liver issues behind the receptionists desk; sure enough, when our dog needed his teeth cleaned, he had high liver enzymes and the treatment was a concoction that cost $33 designed to lower his liver enzymes (not to mention what we paid for his blood pla

Worst vet ever. Took in a healthy cat in the morning and picked her up in the afternoon where she was unable to use her back legs, was gasping for air, and died Tuesday night. Vet said maybe a response to heavy anesthetic. Whatever happened happened to her there.

Not impressed. Vet has little to zero compassion for my dog and is always trying to milk money out of us. Also, Calling all Vets Please! Please! Please! come to Capitol Hill and Save us from traveling outside our neighborhood for good animal care!!

Everyone was friendly, I thought the vet had genuine empathy and sympathy for my dog, and they delivered heart worm medication to my door because they were out at the time. No complaints.
