Let me tell you about my experience at Pediatric Affiliates. A couple of weeks before my baby was born, I reached out to them trying to see if I can meet with any of the doctors or nurses or to fill out new patient paperwork, or just a quick hello to get acquainted with my future son’s new doctors. The receptionist very curtly said, “Yeah. We don’t do that. Call us when your son is born.” OK. I still tried to stay positive since the T.R. office was across the street from my neighborhood. So my son is born and I reach out to them again for his 5 day well visit. Got an 8am appointment. At 7:30, Office calls and says doc needs to cancel. Since I am a new mom, I start to get nervous that he needs to see a doctor for his 5 day visit and that I have questions and so the office told me to come in and speak to a nurse. (The nurses were consistently great, BTW). OK, so my son is not yet up to his birthweight by this time, so they reschedule a follow up visit with the doctor in a week. I’m thinking, ok, well at least I’ll meet the doctor then. So again, we go to the office with my now 2 week old son. They bring us into an examination room and tell us to strip my son down to his diaper and the doc will be in shortly. We waited for over 50 minutes. The room was cold enough that I was chilly in a hoody and I’m a full grown adult. Thank goodness I brought a baby blanket. But here’s the worst part…after 50 minutes, and 2 scheduled well visits, the doctor had the audacity to send in a nurse to tell us that she is too busy and won’t be able to see my son today. Imagine that! 2 visits, newborn baby, new patient, first time mom…both times doctor couldn’t make the effort to meet my son. No thanks! We’ve since changed pediatricians and now we are at Silverton Pediatrics. They immediately gave my son the personal touch he deserves. The doctor was patient and took her time with all of our questions and concerns. We’re much happier there. Pediatric Affiliates was an overall disappointing experience. I’d suggest going elsewhere if you’re looking for a caring, down-to-earth practice.

Pediatric Affiliates overall ineptitude is astounding. As a mother to two of their (former) patients, Ive been more than generous in affording them multiple chances to improve themselves. Theyve failed miserably. The two incidents that proved they cannot nee trusted with the care of my children. The first issue I have with them is when I brought my six year old daughter in when she was ill. Despite every symptom of Strep, they failed to test her for that infection, resulting in a trip to the ER where she was ultimately diagnosed with Strep/Scarlet Fever. The second, and last incident occurred this morning. They had seen my older daughter in January for what we believed was a months-old pencil point injury. The skin had even grown over the pencil point. We were given ointment that failed to draw the tip to the surface, but since my daughter was no longer bothered by the injury, and on the recommendation of the doctor that so long as there wasnt infection, we didnt need to take additional steps, we left the matter alone. This morning, I called them back for additonal recommendation since the pencil point is now bothering her again. They referred her to the ER, despite that I told them there is zero infection. One look from the ER doctor we were told Pediatric Affiliates should have never told us to take her to the ER. Do not take your children to PA. Their office staff are rude, and their doctors have no clue how to actually treat medical issues. I am disgusted, especially since I do not have medical insurance. I will absolutely hold them accountable for their ineptitude regarding wasting my familys money and time in shuffling us off to the ER when they, as doctors, know she should have been referred to a dermatologist.

Never really had a problem until today, I think I will be looking somewere else to bring my kids. Office staff is very unprofessional, every time I come in they are always gossiping about staff or clients. I guess that was a red flag for me right there, but of course I still gave this establishment the benifit to improve with voicing my concerns. Not sure if it made to the office manger but I did speak with one of the staff about it. So today I received a call from the staff that my childrens medication was not covered by insurance, I tried to explain to her that it was covered before and I dont understand why it wasnt? She proceeded to cut me off and say "its not up to us, its your insurance!" In such a hostel manner. I understand that but she would not let me talk or explain what happend the last time the doctor tried to prescribe this medication. So long story, short she huffed and puffed the whole time we spoke. I had to call back to tell her, I got off the phone with the insurance and that it was fine. She of course was upset and then hung the phone up on me. That was the final straw for me, like I dont go out my way to complain but this women "Milly" was very unpleasant! I called back to ask to speak with the office manger and I herd one of the staff say "she called back Milly.. guess she is going to tattletale on you" So once I got on the phone with the office manger Linda she was very sincere and apologetic about that staff member but I hope she addressed the issue. The reason I gave them 2 stars is because other than the office staff the doctors are pretty decent. Im sad I have to switch but I would be more comfortable not having to deal with the staff at Toms River office.

This office has endangered my 7 year old stepsons life TWICE. The first time they totally screw up his blood work, telling us his hepatitis B shot was effective and he was immune, when in fact it was not and he needed a booster, even though we made them well aware of the fact that his mother works in the health care field and is exposed to hepatitis regularly. We only found out after we called and asked for the exact numbers of his antibodies. The second instance was just this past week. I brought my stepson in for a fever, they told me he was "on the upswing" and he should be fine in a couple days. Oh and for some insane reason told me it was fine to send him to school as long as his fever was below 101 degrees. They couldnt have been more wrong. We brought him to the emergency room because his fever persisted and he became disoriented. Not only did this office miss the fact that he had the flu, but multiple doctors at Jersey Shore University Medical Center questioned why they wouldnt give him a basic flu test and why the hell they would tell me its ok to send him to school with a fever. This office is god awful and I wouldnt recommend them to anyone. What I would recommend is they be shut the hell down for being so careless with the well being of children. The doctors there should be ashamed of themselves.
