I have been seeing Dr. Young for probably 15 years now. I have always been very pleased with the attentive service provided by his staff. I think Dr. Young is an excellent eye doctor. He keeps his equipment up-to-date so that I know Im getting the best exam possible. He is very personable and always has time to answer questions, explain my exam results, explain any possible future issues I may have, and repeat his answers when I dont understand something. He is friendly and I always feel that he treats me like a person, not just a paycheck. I am at the point in life where I should get reading glasses. We talked about that and I mentioned the expensiveness of his glasses - frames and so forth - and he recommended I go to a drug store and get the "over the counter" reading glasses. I truly appreciated that honesty. I am extremely pleased with the service. I recommend this business to anyone who needs their eyes examined by professional and caring personnel. I would like to say that I have very limited insurance for eye exams and nothing for the eyeglasses. The only reason some of the eye exam is covered is because I have diabetes. I think the money I pay for my annual eye exams is well worth it. Id rather spend the money on exams than personal care after becoming blind. In response to folks who complain about the cost of his frames and finished glasses - - - if you dont like to pay for the expensive frames, dont buy them. The prices are clearly labeled on the frames. Also, people should notice that most of the frames are the designer-type frames. I think if someone will shop around for the same designer frames, they would find that the prices are very, very similar. If a person wants an very inexpensive set of glasses, then go to one of those other places. When I thought I might like to get a pair of reading glasses from Valley Eye Care and I discovered the cost would be nearly $300, I told the person helping me that it was too much money because I was afraid my prescription would change too quickly or that the prescription would not be accurate when I received the new glasses. He said that Valley Eye Care was committed to getting my glasses to fit properly and with the correct prescription - even if that means re-doing the lenses. In response to any complaints about the waiting time - - - this is a doctors office and just like a Primary Care doctor, we should expect possible delays. We dont like waiting but how would you feel if the doctor discovered a problem but you exceeded your 20 minute visit so he just tells you to leave? Complications or unexpected events happen. Lets be grateful that Dr. Young (and his staff) take the time to thoroughly investigate ones vision.

Worst experience with a health care provider Ive ever had. Here is my experience: To begin with, I was really put off by the $194 price for the exam. After a few minutes into the exam, the technician told me it would be an additional $34 if I wanted the eye imaging as opposed to the painful dilation drops. I asked her why they didnt discuss this with me on the phone before I made the appointment. Dilating someones eyes all day is a big deal, especially if they are driving and working outside in the sun. I told the woman I was a patient, not a customer. I felt like I was in a car dealership, not a doctors office. I told the doctor and his tech I was on my last pair of contacts, and didnt have a backup pair of glasses. They gave me a trial pair of lenses, but one was not the right power because they were out. So, Ive had migraines every day for the last 5 weeks. Thats right, 5 weeks and my contacts have not arrived. Im flying out of town tomorrow due to a death in the family, and will be out of state for 2-3 weeks. So, I call the doctors office to ask about my contacts today. They tell me they never ordered any contacts!! They offer to give me another trial pair of lenses, but they dont have a pair in the correct power. The woman in the office argued with me that they didnt know I wanted contacts! I could NOT believe this!!! I signed a form allowing them to obtain my old records so they could order the right brand. I was told that I would get a phone call after they obtained my records and the contacts arrived. Im in utter disbelief. I will be wasting my time looking for new lenses in another state, instead of consoling my grieving family. Thanks, Valley Eye Care, for 5 weeks of migraines, and several more to come. Enjoy my hard earned money.

I wished there were options to click negative ratings! I received a pair of prescription sunglasses with no problems one year ago. My prescription glasses are a completely different story. After almost 4 months and countless wasted hours going to and waiting at Valley Eye, I have dealt with: 1) First pair of glasses with several micro-scratches the area of a large thumb print on one lens. The optician was rude and did not believe me. He, however, agreed to reorder my lenses and later spotted the scratches. 2) Optician scratched my lens with pliers during a routine adjustment. No apologies. 3) Optician agreeing to replace my glasses because they were so uncomfortable (distorted vision, severe nose and ear pain; I tried for nearly one month with repeated visits for adjustments). While measuring my prescription sunglasses, he damaged both lenses. He also speculated that they may have previously ordered too flat of a lens despite my previous pair being on record. 4) Receiving replacement lenses for my prescription sunglasses, only to have one with micro-scratches the area of a pinky print. Replaced again. I had to beg the lab manager to order without having to first present the evidence. 5) Being called that my prescription glasses were in but the lenses were damaged. 6) I asked for and received a complete refund and reversal of charges to my insurance company. Five damaged lenses, 2 pairs of glasses, 4 months of angst!

HORRIBLE! NEVER GO HERE. Staff is incompetent and the doctor that I did see (Robert Young) had NO patience with me and was always 20+ minutes late to see me. I have had to reschedule appointments just because they are running so late. ON TOP OF THAT, THEY ARE KNOWINGLY RIPPING PEOPLE OFF. Its all about the money for them! I liked my trial lenses of Acuvue Oasis so I proceeded to go through with ordering a year supply. When I went to pick them up, they only had four boxes which I knew from prior research on these lenses that four boxes are ONLY good for a 6 months as these lenses are supposed to be changed once every two weeks! Thank god I did my research online to find how out how often to change them out. When I made note of this fact to the lens "technician" she proceeded to tell me to "just clean them" so I can extend their wear for a month making my four boxes last, but the fact is that I PAID FOR AN ENTIRE YEAR! WHAT PROFESSIONAL MEDICAL OFFICE WOULD TELL THEIR PATIENTS TO IGNORE THE LENS INSTRUCTIONS?! When I called them to see how to go about getting a refund, the staff (Brittany) hung up on me and didnt even offer to make things right and give me the other four boxes to make a real years perscription. HORRIBLE PEOPLE. Please save yourself the trouble of refunds with your insurance company and any out of pocket costs and stay away from this place!
