I took my Yorkie "Boogie" to Barton Heights because it appeared as though he wasnt feeling well. Boogie is an older yorkie so I decided to have a wellness check up for him while I was there. Dr. Greenleaf and Leah are the two that attended to Boogie and I have to say that these two women were amazing. Boogie was very stressed out about being there but Dr. Greenleaf was very gentle with him and when Leah picked him up and cradled him to take him to the back for blood work, Boogie calmed right down. Dr. Greenleaf even came back out as I was leaving to answer a question I had about his eyes and she gave me detailed information. She didnt try to run away because she was done seeing him. Dr. Greenleaf assured me that she would call me with the results of his blood work within the next two days. Needless to say, she called me the very next afternoon and gave me a lot of information about the results and answered all of my questions. Sadly, Boogie has some medical issues that are very concerning but Dr. Greenleaf was very comforting while being honest with me about some of the things it could be, and what we should do next. I informed Dr. Greenleaf that she has just given me a lot of information and asked her if my husband called her would she speak with him and tell him everything she just told me, and she stated "yes" and even suggested when he should call so that she can be available. Thumbs up to Dr. Greenleaf and Leah. Although my overall experience there was great, I have to say that I was a little put off by the receptionist Sarah, once I was ready to pay and leave Leah brought the paperwork out and put it on Sarahs desk. I was standing in front of Sarah and she was on the phone. I stood there for at least 5 minutes and not once did she look up and say "can you give me a minute" or "Ill be right with you." She acted like I was not even there. I was only taken care of when another young lady came from the back and took my payment. Suggestion for Sarah, when working with customers, patients, consumers or the general public, you are the first person we see when we come through door and your interaction with us is important. So maybe a smile or and "Ill be right with you" would be helpful. I would recommend this place to all of my friends who are pet owners.

We went to Barton Heights for our dog on 3/21/17. His name is Butter and hes a yellow lab mix. Overall, I think I could review this place much higher if it wasnt for the rude and downright condescending vet tech we had. Let me start by saying I understand this is the care industry, customer service is not the main priority but when somebody comes in with an emergency, the last thing they want is to feel like theyre being judged by a snarky vet tech. It started when I first called with the emergency. My dog was throwing up and there was blood in it so I called around and was referred to Barton Heights. I did not know it was an emergency vet clinic so I asked what the hours were and that was where her attitude began and once we eventually made it there, her attitude continued through the entire time we were there. Obviously Im writing this review weeks later but thats how much it bothered me. My wife was already extremely upset about our dog having health issues to begin with so having to deal with this unprofessional tech made things even worse. She even went as far as to contradict the vet at the end with the amount of food to give Butter. The Vet told us to give him a certain amount of cans every day before he left and when we were brought to the check out window, the vet tech told us a different amount. She clearly had a disregard for the vet as well. The actual vet (Dr. Smith?) was great. He was extremely kind and understanding. We also called later in the night as we were worried about the amount of saliva in his mouth. The vet tech who answered then was infinitely better. If the first vet tech we had was even half as nice as the lady who answered the phone when we called back at 3 AM this would have been a five star rating. Unfortunately, I dont think we would return to Barton Heights because of the possibility that we would get that tech again. She was just unprofessional, rude, condescending, and judgemental. If you would like specific instances of how she was unprofessional, I would be happy to give you a detailed description of our interaction with her. Thank you for the service you provide, its unfortunate that one bad apple can really ruin something.

On valentines day this year my family was at our weekend home in Jim Thorpe, we live on from Long Island. We had our dogs with us but have never had any reason to bring our dogs to a Vet while being away. My dog started having seizures (she has a history of seizures) and we were waiting for them to pass. Usually she has breakthrough seizures that last less than 10 minutes and we follow up with our vet within the week to have her medication levels checked. When the seizures were not stopping we started searching the internet for an emergency vet to bring her to for medical treatment. We found two that my fiancé called and he was set on going to Bartonsville based on the professionalism he heard over the phone. He was very pleased with the way the staff addressed his concerns and he felt confident in their abilitiy to treat my dog. We drove a half hour with the dog, while we were on our way I was able to begin the intake process over the phone and provide most information to make the process quicker once we arrived. The staff was very honest and caring for my dog Kasey. They gave us an estimate to leave her overnight for observation/treatment. I was very worried leaving my dog overnight somewhere that I was unfamiliar with but decided it may have been best for her health since she had never experienced seizures like these before. I called multiple times during the night and was always given prompt honest answers regarding her current state. My mom went to pick up Kasey the next morning and the price was lower than our original quote, I love the honesty, professionalism and care we received from the hospital. The hospital followed up during the week and also sent EVERYTHING to our vet on Long Island. If I ever found myself in an emergent animal situation again while in the area I wouldnt hesitate to bring my pet to Martinsville! Oh and... Kasey had an accident on her blanket while she was there and the staff made sure to wash her blanket before she was discharged home.

In February 2015, I took my pug to Barton Heights late in the night when he had his first seizure. I was very shaken and upset. The receptionists, veterinarian, and vet techs were very compassionate and gentle to both me and my dog. Ive been there several times since hes had a rough year. He had a stage II cancerous mass removed from his lip in January and just yesterday I brought him in due to blood in his urine. Unfortunately, he has to go Tuesday to have stones removed from his bladder. I will never take him elsewhere. He usually sees Dr Worton or Dr Ott. Both of them are sympathetic, honest, and spend a lot of time ensuring I understand all aspects of what is happening. (Also, a specialist named Dr Zeltzman removed his mass since it was on a tricky area on his lip. He also called me before and after the procedure to discuss everything thoroughly). The vet techs are kind and very knowledgeable. The receptionists are professional yet also compassionate. They always call a week or so after a sick visit/procedure to check on my dog. Ive always received very thorough estimates before any procedure and detailed receipts following. They make sure I know I can call to check on my dog as much as I want while hes there. They also send texts letting me know how he is and when hes going in/coming out of a procedure. Ive been pretty emotional at times while Ive been there and have only been met with kindness and empathy. I was very nervous during his last surgery, but I think Ill feel a bit better this time because I truly trust that they will do everything they can to help my boy. I am very grateful to them for everything theyve done for us. Oh-and they also accept care credit which Ill be using for the first time on Tuesday. Theres no interest if I can pay off his bill in 6 months.
