Went in for a routine cleaning, found out an old filling needed redone so since my insurance did not pay for that procedure, decided to shop around for pricing of other dentist. When I went to check out, was given a "treatment" plan sheet and the girl asked when I wanted to get my 12 cavities taken care of. I told her she must have the wrong person but she said no, that was me. I was shocked because nothing had been said about 12 cavities and I never had those kinds of problems with my teeth in over 40 years. When I looked at the "treatment sheet" she gave me, sure enough, there was several hundred dollars worth of work to address these issues. I decided to pay for xrays at another dentist to confirm the 12 cavities as I still couldnt believe that could be right. So, I not only went to one dentist and had xrays done and a full exam, I went to two. Two completely different offices, two completely different dentist. I specifically asked them both if I had any cavities or issues along those lines other than the filling that needed redone and had decay under it. I was told by both, no, no issues along those lines. So, I called East Texas Dental back, asked to talk to a manager and told them all the above. I was told it was simply a "mis-communication" and was given an apology. I canceled all my upcoming appointments with them and told them I would never EVER be back! They "created" issues to charge me for and then tried to weasel out of it once they were caught in the lie................nothing but liars.......BEWARE!

I have had so many communication problems with ETXDA it is unreal. The office staff are so uncoordinated and aloof to what is going on in the back of the house its ridiculous. 10/17/2016 I had an appointment with Dr. Compton at 1:30 and she had to leave early so therefore she placed me in the hands of Dr. Lee, in which it took me 40 minutes from my appointment time to even be told this. So it was sprung upon me last minute, which in any profession is awful customer service. Dr. Lees bedside manner was great, but his skills as a dentist were way to rough, and his dental assistant was drowning me with the water she was spraying directly down my throat and the back of my throat is bruised from her suctioning tube she would let get out of control as well. I was trying to breathe out of my nose which I could not do for Dr. Lee holding down my tongue, and upon trying to breathe through my mouth was nearly impossible as I was having to swallow and try to gasp for air before the back of my throat started to fill up again. This experience has been by far the worst experience I have ever had with east Texas dental, and overall it hasnt been a very happy time. After this crown I will be finding a new dentist office. Oh and by the way, I wouldnt trust all these reviews. Some of them have been left by EMPLOYEES of East Texas Dental Associates. Definitely shady!

Thoroughly disappointed with my appointment today. I have had extremely intense jaw and teeth pain for the last five days. I made an appointment with East Texas Dental associates in hopes that the dentist would take the time to listen to my symptoms, care about my well-being, and investigate or suggest anything that could possibly help. I had already gone to an urgent care facility and they suggested going to a dentist. The dentist rushed into the exam room and coldly asked where I was having pain. I started to explain and she interrupted me. She stuck a mirror in my mouth and glanced at my teeth. She said everything was fine and I needed to go somewhere else for probable TMJ. She referred me to a periodontics office (that I later found out does not treat TMJ). She spent a maximum of 5 minutes total for my exam, I am not exaggerating. I left feeling discouraged and still in immense pain. On their website it states that "East Texas dental associates is proud to offer TMJ treatment in Tyler". It also states that they are excited to help their patients and make sure they are comfortable. I did not receive the care I needed from the dentist. I will say though, that all of the other staff members were very kind, professional, and caring.

Poor service from the scheduling department, front desk and office manager. I had an appointment scheduled for a certain time and date but the office decided to take a patient that was there with an emergency situation before me and decided to reschedule me. They stated that it was because I did not confirm my appointment when the automated system called me. Unfortunately the system NEVER called me since they had the wrong phone number, and being that I made an appointment for a specific reason and issue there shouldnt be confirming to be made, any other dr or dental office would never move an appointment made. I took off from work just to make it to that appointment that the office decided to move. I asked to speak to the manager (Mary) and she did not have any leadership skills. Her responses were very argumentative and was not flexible. I canceled any future appointments and changed dentist office.

New office manager, new personnel, new experience. And it was totally unprofessional, I was called a liar, I was dismissed as a patient, and I dont understand. One of THEIR employees called ME a liar, and I get fired? Maybe its because Im a disabled veteran, and they dont like dealing with the VA. I dont know; I have never been treated this bad, anywhere. They expect ME to do the VA insurance request, when I dont have all the information, and they have ALWAYS done it in the past. The VA wont allow me to do it. So, if you call or go there, avoid Mary (office manage), Tammy (dont know what she does, except accusing people of lying) and Jennifer (doesnt do much except spread disinformation). Other than that, Erica, Gwen and Dr Compton are fantastic, and the other staff members are very nice as well, unless they got rid of the good ones

This is the worst place Ive ever received service for my family. Not only do you need to plan to stay a while when you go (your wait will take some time) but plan on going to another dentist and having the work redone. I have to have A SECOND root canal on the same tooth done because of work that was not done properly in their office. And because of this, I have to buy a SECOND crown for the same tooth. So there work only lasted me less than 2 years! They broke a piece of their tool off in my canal and left it there. YES I have their tool in my canal close to my jaw! The list honestly goes on and on... from black metal sticking out of a porcelain crown so that it shows to the gums being black around a poor root canal and crown job. Poor work! I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone at this point.

We will never be back to this place. I have taken my daughter there 3 times, six months apart each time. The first time the hygienist literally spent 3 minutes cleaning and polishing her teeth. The dentist told us we should seal all her teeth "because the insurance will pay it all." Our insurance was billed for a flouride treatment she never received because they didnt have time to give it to her. The second time she sat in the dental chair for 2.5 hours before receiving any services. And then today we showed up and they had given her appointment to someone else even though I had called and confirmed the appointment this morning. We were told we could wait and see if someone doesnt show up for their appointment and if so could have that one.
