Nurse practitioner was friendly at the Katy location, however, she emphasized that she had no experience in the scope of neurology, but had experience within the family medicine practice. Furthermore, prior to any Diagnostics being ordered, the nurse diagnosed my child on with dysthymia. My child doesnt meet criteria of dysthymia, in accordance with the DSM 5... One of the first things a skilled practitioner should do is perform a differential diagnosis and rule out potential medical conditions before diagnosing a psy dx of dysthymia. DURATION AND FREQUENCY OF ANY Sxs were RATHER NORMATIVE FOR AGE AND ALL TOGETHER NOT HER SCOPE OF PRACTICE, EITHER WAY. She also stated, "Everyone is on antidepressants. " What a distorted perception OF THE USE OF PSYCHOTROPHICS. THIS HAS SOMEWHAT CONTRIBUTED TO THE OVERDIAGNOSIS AND OVERUTILIZATION OF ANTIDEPRESSANTS IN MANY INDIVIDUALS.
