I had just moved to Beaufort and my husband and I adopted two little kittens. Adorable! The had gotten a flea problem, so we took them to the Animal Hospital of Beaufort. We went in on a Monday, brought our Immunization Records from JARM (Jasper Animal Rescue Mission), and were going to drop the kittens off for the night for a flea bath, and boarding, so we could bomb our house the following day. The receptionist / vet tech, looked over the records and told us they were the wrong paper work and they couldnt take them. She gave us their fax number and told us to all JARM, and have them fax the real records the next day, since they were already closed. I called JARM the next day, and asked if maybe we could get copy faxed over. I told her the papers we had, she said there was no other paper work. As I looked over the paper work I noticed it was the correct paper work and the vet tech at Animal Hospital of Beaufort was wrong. This was a huge inconvenience because we then had to wait another day to bomb our house to rid it of fleas. We returned Tuesday night to the Animal Hospital of Beaufort, a different tech was working, we gave her the same paper work we gave the day before she said it was perfect. They took the kittens for the night and would bathe them the following morning while we bombed our house. We returned again Wednesday night, the receptionist from Monday night was working. We picked up the kittens and asked for a prescription flea preventative, like advantage or frontline. The vet tech gave us Vectra, (which is very similar and also fine) However when we got to the car I read the label, it said it was for cats weighing 9lbs and over... our kittens weigh about 2.5 lbs each. My husband went back in and pointed this out to her, she said it was the same thing and it would be fine. When we got home, I opened the packaging and read more info on the other products sold by Vectra, the also sell a Vectra flea preventative for kittens 8 weeks or older and weighing up to 9lbs. The difference is less chemicals and 0.4 mil difference in measurement of the chemical. Before putting it on the kittens I decided it would be smart to call back and talk to a different tech or the actual vet the following day. I did so, and they again said it would be fine. So I called the Vectra hotline phone number, as well as a couple other vets in the area and they told me to NOT put it on our kittens. That although it may only be a 0.4 mil difference, they make separate products for kittens for a reason... This vets office, the Animal Hospital of Beaufort, kept trying to tell us to put the larger dose for larger cats onto our tiny kittens... yet the company of the drug itself as well as several vets in the area disagree. The other vets as well as the company said that if I were to have put the larger dose on our small kittens it could have been fatal. Please please think before going to this vet. If they were making a mistake like this, who knows what other mistakes they may make... We were lucky to have doubted what they said, if we didnt... our little kittens could be dead..

I am a Marine and just arrived in Beaufort a few weeks ago. This morning I went outside and saw my neighbors dog fighting with a raccoon. I have not met the guy yet but he seems friendly so I jumped the fence and broke up the fight. Then I realized that his dog was hurt pretty bad do I just started dialing phone numbers in the yellow pages. I talked to two animal hospitals but they thought I was lying about the dog belonging to my neighbor. When I called the Animal Hospital of Beaufort they told me to bring the dog in as soon as possible and they would figure out the situation with the owner later. When I got there the waiting room was full but sure enough when the vet came out he took one look at the dog and began treating him immediately without even asking me my name! After a few minutes they told me they were putting him under to operate on his neck and I told them again that this was not my dog and I was not responsible. The girl at the counter smiled and said they knew that but Dr. Henry said to worry about it later. An hour later I met with Dr. Henry and he explained that he had to give the dog more than 100 stitches and that if I had not brought him in he would have probably died in the back yard. I read these other reviews and I have to say that I was impressed with everybody that I came in contact with today, I also noticed that all the negative reviews are over a year old maybe Dr. Henry saw these and straightened out his staff. Anyway I dont have any animals but if/when I get one I will definitely take it to the Animal Hospital of Beaufort.

Ive taken my dog Dana there since she was a puppy and have always been pleased with my experience. My expectations have been far exceeded lately though. I recently got a new job in Hilton Head and have had to dayboard Dana as I dont have anyone that can let her out during the day. As I have to be in HH by 8, I have to drop her off around 6:30am. Someone is always there to take her in which is a HUGE help to me. And when I pick her up in the evening, she never wants to leave!! I do run late sometimes but as they allow early drop offs, they also allow late pick-ups. The convenience for me and the fact that Dana can not get enough of them have made me a happy regular.

Ok, the facility could be cleaner, but as far as staff goes we have had a very good experience. Believe me, we are now on a walk in basis because we have had a run of incidents with our dogs. From two knee surgeries, brown recluse bites, as well as, boarding them to name a few. They are always willing to talk at length about my dogs and they absolutely love my female. She is always greeted with smiles and hugs. Not to say the my male, who has been nicknamed "Dozer" isnt treated the same, but my girl has had more interaction with them.

Extremely RUDE and CRUEL staff. We were "greeted" by an extremely cold receptionist and as we waited for our $22 rabies shot, our dog was almost run completely over by another staff member who blew through the back door and crashed into our border collie. We were extremely disappointed with the service and lack of attention to our animal. WE WILL NEVER go back to this horrid excuse for a vet ever again. Please stay away from this "vet"---unprofessional, uncaring, and uncouth!!!!

Yes, the place was not the cleanest but The staff there seemed very nice and my visit was great. However, their prices are a little too high for me. There was nothing there that stood out as really wonderful and nothing stood out as horrible either. Really, my only problem with them are their prices, which are kind of ridiculous. I am going to try the one in Port Royal.
