Dr. Capraro was my vet for around 2 years and I last visited around a year ago, at which point I found it hard to trust veterinarians motives. I had a suspicion that Capraro was more about making money than formulating and executing a good plan to figure out what was wrong with my dog. Each time I came in with a problem, I could expect to be suggested to get the full array of get x-rays, blood work, and a myriad of suggested products that he sells regardless of the issue. It wouldnt matter that I had just done blood work recently. When questioned why all at once instead of a progression to rule things out, his tech, who he sends in without him to break the news of the costs, would say thats just what he suggests to figure out the issue. Often it seemed like he was more interested in playing with my dog for the short time he saw me. *** At one point I came in because my dog was having seizures. Like clockwork, he ordered x-rays and blood work. Then he suggested I immediately put my dog on medications. With very little evidence from testing that it would help, I was hesitant. This was a major decision and I wanted to know how my dog would feel if on this medication, like if he would turn into a zombie. He thought for a second and told me, he would have to get back to me on that. Shouldnt the doctor know the side effects of the medication he was prescribes? He called me back later and provided me the information, but by that time I had Googled the side effects for myself. *** What really compels me write this review is that my suspicions were confirmed after finding a new vet recently. My dog was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism after the initial blood test. No x-rays were needed. My dogs history from Dr. Capraro were transferred over, conveniently without the blood test results. We had to ask for them specifically. My new vet said hypothyroidism was showing in both blood tests a year ago and could have been treated then. I highly suggest everyone look in another direction if they would like real treatment for their animals.

I was shocked by the horrible review posted by another person. I have been entrusting my dogs/cats health care to Dr Capraro for many years and actually started going to him because the vet I had been using was charging ridiculously excessive fees to pay for a new facility. Dr Capraro is an intelligent, caring, thoughful vet who has always cared for my fur babies with the utmost integrity. He truly cares about his patients and their "people". His staff could not be more caring and loving with their patients. I have to believe the negative review was due to a misunderstanding. It does not describe the Dr. Capraro I have known for all these years.
