I took my puppy there who was 3 months old, they got me right in however when they seen her they took her back and came back with the worse news ever she had parvo. I have had dogs all my life and none of my dogs have ever gotten this horrible disease. They told me to take her to the emergency clinic after I was charged 40.00 because they wouldnt keep or take her in as a patient. I get to the emergency clinic 950 up front or put her to sleep so I chose to save her. Left her at the emergency clinic for 2 days to get treated, then picked her up Monday morning, Ark called me to bring her in and they would take care of her for 180.00 a day nope you snubbed me to begin with not coming back. Got a hold of a great vet not only who took care of her but also made sure I understood what was going on and what steps would be taken. I was called every hour and they told me its a long process and it takes time. Ark didnt want me to give her time they just wanted my money. Never again will I ever use them and I have used them for years since I was a young kid. Be careful using them after 20 years of using them I have learned that I have spent way to much money with them and I could have lost my puppy taking her 45 minutes out to another vet when they could have taken care of her just as well.

I brought my hedgehog to them since no other vet near me would see her. The first day they did a few tests but were unable to draw blood without sedating her so we had to just come back the next day so they would be able to keep her for the afternoon. I called often to see is she was okay and they were always super pleasant. When I came to pick her up they did a great job explaining what was normal and what was off able her blood work (it was because her former owners fed her a terrible diet by the way). They told me what I would need to do to keep her healthy and happy and told me that shed have to stay extra warm because of the imbalances. After our visit we got a lot of stuff to help keep her cage warm and adjusted her diet and she bounced right back to normal! I was very pleased with how good they were to my little her and to me.

**Update** 3 years later...our rabbit is still doing well! Very grateful to Ark Animal Hospital! We took our rabbit there in August. She was practically paralyzed from neck down. We thought she was on her death bed and I did not think I would walk out of there with her. It did take a while in the waiting room, but I also did not have an appointment. And I was just grateful that she could be seen. The doc treated her and gave us the meds/specialty emergency supplement since she was not eating. Within a few days we could see movement in her legs. Within a week, she was actually hopping again! She made an amazing recovery! And being unemployed, I worried about the costs. But they were VERY reasonable, allowing us to afford to continue to care for her.

Well, hopefully the ignorant vet named Kevin Smith is no longer practicing, or better yet has properly educated himself on FIV and Feline Aids. He thought I was stupid enough to follow his suggestion back in April 2012, to euthanize Squeeky, an fiv positive cat, advising me incorrect and inappropriate information; that an fiv + cat could not live in a home with other non fiv cats. This level of veterinary care needs to be eliminated from the world of animal welfare and hopefully this looser is no longer working here in Horry County, where great vets are far and few in between to start with. Especially the ones who push the vaccinations and sell Science Diet and Royal Canin to keep pets in constant need of vet care and $ coming in the front door. Sad.

We had 2 cats pass away in one week - which was an extremely sad/tough event for us. Instead of being caring and compassionate, it was made a horrible experience. One of the times we sat in a freezing cold room for 3.5 hours, acknowledged only to sign forms, asked twice to pay the bill by the front desk guy before the cat had even passed, and were not able to hold the cat when she was put to sleep. The second cat was apparently temporarily "misplaced" while in the crematorium. We have no idea if it is actually our cat in the misspelled big-mac type container he was returned to us in. (they use Eskew Pet Mortuary, fyi.) The whole thing was a miserable experience and I would not recommend them to anyone.

I took my 7 yr old cat to Ark Animal Hospital today. They were just amazing! Very nice staff, all patients waiting seemed very comfortable. My cat is usually very skittish however when the nurse and doctor were examining her she seemed very calm and accepting of them. Very clean, very nice, a very reasonable price. She got all of her shots and they went the extra mile to get rid of a little matt forming in her hair (she has very long hair) and also brushed her before returning her too me. I was a little skeptical because of the bad reviews however honestly this is the best experience I or my fiance have ever had with a vet. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone!

We were on a vacation a few weeks ago and when we arrived late Friday our 15yr old Pug began having seizures. I monitored him for the weekend as we seemed to be able to "interrupt" the seizures. I checked on the After Hours clinic and read such horrid reviews that on Tuesday I took him to Ark. I was very happy with the care and concern of the staff and the staff seemed to be good to work with. Their prices were comparable to what I pay at home. We were able to begin my dog on meds and he is continuing to do well. The Dr.offered his notes and copies of all bloodwork before I even ask. Hope to not have to but would use these folks again!

I took my 2 chihuahuas for complete check up, blood work and rabies shots. I told the doctor only rabies shots. They gave them a cocktail of 7 vaccines and my dogs almost didnt make it. They were sick with high fever swollen legs ( at the site of the shot ), totally lifeless. I spent 2 sleepless nights trying to comfort them. My older dog is 6 yrs old and I wanted him to be checked for thyroid problem, it turn out they only got blood work for wellness (what the heck does that mean???), no thyroid check up. If I want that I have to take them back...I dont think so!!! My foot will not step in this incompetent place anymore!!!

If you get the right vet and can make an appointment, youre good. I had an incredible vet that was with me and my cat when I found out her many illnesses, gave the proper meds and was kind all the way to the end. I would suggest these expand or stop taking in any more customers, wait times are long if youre a "fit in" people with dogs ALWAYS sit in the cat section (cant blame the people, but the staff should say something, as cats are usually afraid of dogs) More vets needed, more room needed as well. The dogs need to be separated from the cats.
