If you’re looking for CORPORATE BUSINESS APPROACH to veterinary care then, this is the place for you. Building is new but, rooms and exam tables are always FILTHY with dirt and hair. They PUSH medication and food they carry and will give a major attitude if you request otherwise. What they do dispense for medication is NOT in manufacturer bottling rather, its re-bottled and labeled from VCA (Obviously ordered in bulk to maximize profit yet, there is NO INSERT with information, side effects and warnings given with the medication they dispense.) Wouldn’t the Veterinarian caring for your pet find that important information for you to have? The manufacturer does and pharmacies do. The COST of medication, supplements and vitamins is DOUBLE what you can find online at accredited websites like California Pet Pharmacy and Vet Source. Flea and heart worm products are locally half price of VCA at Coastline Pet Supply on 707. They PUSH TESTING for everything, I mean everything. Can’t check your pet’s ears without an ear scraping at over $100. Can’t give antibiotic without blood work over $100. Everything has to be blood work, put under a microscope or x-rayed; it’s all about the dollar. Then, they DONT even CALL you with the test results. Be prepared to have to go retrieve results yourself and good luck getting any answers or return phone call. It takes several phone calls for medications to be refilled then, you will be made to feel like you are a burden. DR. BISHOP who is the Medical Director at VCA will take it upon herself to intervene on your pets medical care and test results. She is not helpful rather; she is the RUDEST and most EGOTISTICAL doctor I’ve ever dealt with. She will make assumptions and generalizations on blood work without knowing your pet or their medical history. If you are looking for a caring, empathic, honest veterinary care then, you will want to GO ELSEWHERE. I have dealt with VCA for years, paid out thousands of dollars and have been very patient and forgiving but, my last dealing with their antics is the last straw. My pets are like my CHILDREN and they DESERVE quality care without feeling like a burden or breaking the bank.

The first kitten I brought to the VCA had an upper respiratory problem. I paid about $120 for first exam and meds. When the first people who come in before the vet took her temperature rectally, they left the thermometer in the sink, unwashed, so that by the time the actual veterinarian entered, the entire room smelled like pungent cat anus. It was disgusting. I also requested an estimate on how much a spay and declaw would cost for when she would be old enough to get that done. They quoted me at over a thousand dollars!! I decided that I would be better off just getting her spayed at the Humane Society. The reason I took a second kitten there was for convenience; I only live a mile from the VCA. And the kitten obviously has worms(huge pot belly), so I needed that fixed asap. I got there on time, 5 mins early actually. The woman behind the desk was clearly making a personal phone call, but got to checking me in and showed me to an exam room. I waited for an entire hour. No one came in the entire time. I ended up leaving, absolutely infuriated. Turns out, they didnt even know I was there! I scheduled an appointment with another vet, despite an offer for a free exam after I left. It just doesnt seem worth it to ever come back here again. I value prompt service and I dont like to feel like a business is trying to take my wallet for a ride. I recommend going somewhere else.

I have been bringing my tiny toy poodle , my little girl, Sabrina Rose to VCA PALMETTO since Dr. Laurel BISHOP took over approximately 5 years ago. I had Dr. Bishop at another practice. I sought her out, because I knew she was the best VET for my little girl I am very cautious and protective of who takes care of her! You could not ask for a better Veterinarian Hospital! The minute you walk in you are greeted and taken care of with knowledge, caring and honesty! Dr. BISHOP calls day after tomorrow see how Sabrina Rose is doing! I also have a coclkatiel who is a patient of theirs! Before service is given you are given a bill , NO SURPRISES! AS A QUOTE "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR" AS LONG AS I KNOW MY SABRINA ROSE IS IN EXCELLENT HANDS, WHICH SHE IS WITH VCA PALMETTO!!! I BELIEVE CARE , KNOWLEDGE, AND CARING OUTWEIGHS COST , EVEN THOUGH I AM ON SOCIAL SECURITY I WANT HER TO BE IN EXCELLENT HANDS, AND SHE ALWAYS IS! THEY ARE OPEN 24-7 7 DAYS A WEEK WHICH IS NOT NORMAL AT MOST HOSPITAL AND THAT IS ANOTHER PLUS THANK YOU ALL, ESPECIALLY DR. LAUREL BISHOP FOR AN OUTSTANDING HOSPITAL

I am new to Myrtle Beach & have (had) a rabbit & have a bird. Ive had some schooling with regards to different animal trades & train them too. Even though I was a brand new face to this hospital, I wasnt treated that way & neither were my fids (feathered & furry kids). Dr. Buerkle & all the techs really paid attention to what I had to say for both visits. Now my bird seems to have won everyone over & I could see him being an occasional "house bird". Unfortunately I did have to say good-bye to my beloved bunny. However, as if I didnt already know how amazing VCA is-I finally opened older mail & saw 2 cards full of sweet messages from staff members! So NOW I want to thank you not only for making my family apart of yours, but going even further & sending those cards...totally unexpected & if I knew I would have thanked you when I stopped in today. Please pass this on with many hugs! Sincerely, Elyse & Niko (who actually said "thank you :) & Chance (from heaven)

I will be totally honest. When I first got my cat, I took her to VCA. The price was a lot. So I stopped going there. I started going to a different vet who charged less. The adage you get what you pay for now comes to mind. The other vet gave her meds that caused her to have tremors and get sick. It scared me when I saw her shaking! I didnt know if it was a seizure or what. VCA is open 24 hrs/7 days a week. I called and they were so nice. I brought her in and they took such good care of her and explained everything. It didnt cost a lot, and the tech even explained that they cost more because they are an emergency hospital as well as regular vet. They now have a plan that you can pay monthly and it like banks your money so that you can have five visits a year already paid for. They are really awesome and really care. The dr even called me later to check on my pet. I will definitely be taking her there from now on.

First Impression was awesome. Our doggie woke on a Sunday morning with an eye infection & our normal Vet was closed. We called, very nice receptionist answered & let us know the next available walk in time. We showed at that time & were seen immediately. The staff was friendly & accommodating. Vet, Kymberly Newman seen us and explained in detail exactly what she was going to do and specifically what test were necessary. At no time did we feel rushed or overwhelmed. Our doggie was super disstressed. They cared for her kindly, taking extra effort to make sure Sandy (our pet) was handled with the best possible care. All costs and fees associated with the appointment were outlined upfront with no surprise expenses on our invoice when checking out. The costs were reasonable and in line with what we pay our normal vet. There was not a mark up Sunday Service. I absolutely recommend this Veterinarian.
