We have been bringing our personal pets as well as foster pets to Tidewater for about 5 years now and would never go elsewhere. Dr. Andy & Dr. Greg are the most compassionate and caring Vets. They actually get down on the floor with my dogs instead of putting them up on a scary metal table, I think thats why all the dogs Ive brought there never get terrified and traumatized. They also dont have the high turn around on staff like many other vets, that really says something about a business and how they handle people. Tidewater also supports many local shelters and animal rescues and helps them provide care to homeless pets. They not only know the medical side of pets, but also the behavioral side. I am a Professional Dog Trainer and I can tell you that many vets dont know anything about the training and behavioral side of dogs, but Dr. Andy is the closest thing in the region to a Veterinary Behaviorist and she knows her stuff and continues her exploration into it. That is important for your pets experience at the vet since their medical health and behavior go hand in hand. If you are looking for more of a Vet Family who is invested in your pets health then Tidewater Trails is the best choice!

The doctors and staff were nice, however I felt like I paid over $100 for an "I dont know" and basically some Neosporin. My dogs eye had been runny and red. The doctor examined it and saw no scratches, but did not know what the problem was, so prescribed an ointment. She asked if he scratches at it and I told her "no" but she thinks he does when Im not around. HOWEVER, Im home all day and hes a big baby who stays by my side (hes at my feet now). So I know he doesnt touch the eye, but she wanted to give an E-collar anyway $$. Then this ointment she prescribes, when I come home and look it up, its got the same ingredients as Neosporin except the bacitracin (which can also be used in the eye).So basically i think I just paid to still not know the problem with my dog and for a tube of "neosporin". I think she couldve just been more honest about what this "special ointment" was and listened to me when I told her he doesnt scratch. I realize most of the reviews here are great so I hope maybe this was an "off" day. I dont know. I want to know that I can trust my vet and right now I dont. :(

They royally screwed me and I will never return! I called on Tuesday because I was leaving town Saturday MORNING. I needed something taken care of for my trip. I was told that if there was an issue with my request I would receive a call back. I received no call back. I stopped by on Friday afternoon and was told they couldnt help me. They provided me with a letter full of lies and told me they would be happy to help me if I wanted to bring my dog in the next day. Happy to take my money but lack the customer service skills necessary to call me back so I could make other arrangements. The vet I have found since is awesome, the employees know me and my dogs, and they take excellent care of them.

I have just moved from NJ to VA so when one of my dogs got sick, i asked some friends where the best vet was and they all said Tidewater Trail was the best. They were very thorough and had the equipment to do all the tests right there and then. During the checkup, they even found out my dog had a urinary tract infection, which wasnt the initial reason we went. Overall, Id have to say that this animal hospital is very good and also very clean. They are very thorough and took the time to explain things that I didnt understand and answer all of my questions. Im a single woman with no children, these dogs are my kids, and I trust Tidewater Trail Animal Hospital with both of my babies. =D

Dr. Greg, Dr. Andy and Dr. Jordan do a superb job at taking care of my pets and myself. They have always been on time and clear about what needs to be done and show a lot of respect and compassion during the process. If you have an older or sickly pet who just isnt for this world anymore they make the process easy comfortable and relatively inexpensive compared to others. Tidewater Animal Hospital is also the least expensive of all the veterinarians Ive been to around Fredericksburg and if youre in a bind and have a pet emergency Tidewater will work with you to figure out the best way to help your pet with your budget. Ive been going to them for years and havent been disappointed yet.

One of the disadvantages to being a military family is every move requires us to start all over again with doctors, dentists, veterinarians, etc. I am not adverse to changing practices if something doesnt sit right with me. We will NOT be leaving Tidewater Trail Animal Hospital anytime soon. The doctors and staff at Tidewater Trail are exceptional in their care and treatment of our dogs and interactions with us. We are never rushed out of an appointment. Both Dr Greg and Dr Andi take the time needed for our dogs to feel comfortable. The rest of the staff is warm and friendly. If you live in the area I would highly recommend giving this practice a try.

I have been taking my 3 little (fat) dogs to Tidewater Animal Hospital for many years. I love them, Dr. Andi and Dr. Gregg are so good to my animals. Even though Little John cant see or hear, they always take Special Time with him, and I use Tidewater for boarding my dogs too. I highly recommend them to anyone new to the area or just want to try a new vet. I know you will be pleased beyond your imagination. I can call if I have an emergency and they all always willing to work with me. Even when my husband passed, they were so much help to me and my family. Thanks Dr. Andi and Dr. Gregg for your support. Highly recommend.

I was new to the area and my 2 month old puppy Bella had received a large deep gouge on the back of the neck. I didnt have a clue where to take her, my daughter was panicking so they were the closest place to us (Four Winds campgrounds). As soon as my daughter and I walked in with Bella, they had taking her back to get examined and with five minutes had a plan of care ready for her. They did surgery and kept her over night. they were so kind and helpful. they were even reasonably priced. I have now taken all of our other three dogs there and will continue to use them. ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM!

Weve trusted our pets to Dr. Greg and Dr. Andi for almost 10 years, wouldnt have it any other way. They will talk with you (not at you) about whats going on, treatment options, signs to look for, and even humor your speculation and wild theories. Front desk staff are helpful and friendly, facility is clean and easy to get in and out of. Room to move around if other peoples pets dont like yours. They even have a special room for those times when your pets cross the rainbow bridge, a true demonstration of their love for their craft and care for their customers.
