Horrible place! They killed my dog and blaimed it on "heart failure or just old age" A couple of years ago I took my older dog for a routine checkup, and they informed me that he had two abcessed teeth that needed to come out, in addition to a routine dental cleaning. The charges were high, but they convinced me that my dog was in pain and I had to do this. They assured me this is routine, and everything would be just fine. The Dog was happy as can be, running and jumping and eating as if nothing was wrong. Later that night I got a call that he was ready to be picked up and he didnt need any overnight observation. To my absolute horror, when I got there they informed me that they had pulled almost all his teeth because "they were in bad shape"- without even trying to contact me and ask if I was OK with it. In addition, I had to order "dog formula" from Science Diet, through their office of course - because my dog wouldnt be able to eat any more regular food. And of course I needed massive amounts of antibiotics, because it had been such an invasive procedure. When looking at the bill I realized that the had charged me for a complete cleaning (the dog had 1 tooth left!!!) and for each individual extraction, and when I started to ask questions they told me they had cleaned the teeth before pulling them!!! I just took my dog and went home. Five hours later my dog died in terrible pain! When I went back to ask for an explanation, return the unopened cases of dog food and antibiotics, they wouldnt take them back! I had to fight with them to even get a small fraction of my money back. And to add insult to injury, two months later they sent me a reminder that my dog was due for a dental cleaning!!!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS THERE! They are all about the money, and do not care about animals!

I have spent a lot of money with this place and I would have given it a higher mark had it not been for an incident that has haunted me for weeks. My beautiful Cane Corso was neutered there and after 2weeks of healing he had to go back to have his stitches checked. I wanted to speak to the Vet about a couple of issues. A smart mouthed Tech came out and took my dogs leash to take him to the back where they could check out his sutures. My puppy immediately picked up her negative energe and resisted going. SHE literally tried dragging my dog to the back, yanking on his leash. I had to step in and tell her NOT to do that and then encouraged my dog to go with her. When she returned with my dog I asked to speak with the Vet and I was told very abruptly NO.. Not unless I pay $50.00 which is the fee for speaking to the Vet. I had just nearly 2000. with this place and a Vet was too darn lazy to just come out and answer a couple of questions. WELL, you wont have to worry about having to offer GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE a minute longer with me, my friends, my Co Workers or any potential clients, I wont return or ever recommend VCA pets first

I have been going to VCA Pets First for about a year and a half dealing with a 17 year old cat with thyroid issues. There are two vets that Ive seen and the two do not communicate what the other has done. The first found a tumor, we did a biopsy and things turned out fine and we would just watch it. When I came back for teeth extractions (which cost over a thousand dollars!!!) The other vet found the tumor and wanted to biopsy again!! I had to ask her to look at the chart and that wed already done that! I felt that I was constantly being asked to come in and were doing tons of tests. I could not walk out of the door without spending $250. Not to mention, I just got a puppy and he ate the cats thyroid medicine, the receptionist told me that "Hell be fine, heres the number for poison control." He wouldnt even let me speak with a vet! Hes a receptionist, what does he know??? They are polite when you walk in, but completely overpriced and not willing to help when I felt I had an emergency on my hands. I also find it interesting that there seem to be new people at the front desk each time I go, that says something about turnover rate.

All this place cares about is money. Ive dealt with four different vets in three visits, two of which were for the same issue. They do not communicate with each other, they each tell you one thing, so that the next can lecture you for doing what the previous vet instructed you to do. Everything is about money. They tell you to purchase their "bundle" of tests which include things you dont need and if you cant afford the bundle they will charge you 2/3 the price of the bundle for 1/4 of the tests of the bundle. How is that even remotely fair? If I wanted verizon sale pitches, I wouldve taken my dog there. One vet gave me a price for follow up blood work, once I got there it was $50 more with the explanation that the previous vet made a mistake. They do everything they can to make you feel like you are a horrible person if you dont get everything done they suggest, whether you actually need it or not. They are nothing but smiling vultures circling your wallet. Dont go there, find a vet that cares about your pet, not your wallet.

Definitely my favorite vet hospital of all time. I was not partial to the high prices a few years ago and had a few issues with having services done before quoting me an estimate, but in the last year or so, theyve had an amazing transformation. Dr. Mays and Dr. Johnson are phenomenal and their assistants are just as amazing. They are a sweet, caring, and concerned people who easily make my boys feel calm and loved. The front staff are wonderful, personable, and remember their clients. I feel like they put my comfort first for my pets and they know exactly how to address different patient situations, and make compassion their number one rule. Their financing options are helpful, their Care Club is the greatest, and I never feel pressured or lost if something is out of my range. They also quote every single service before doing them and make sure you are 100% comfortable with what they are going to do. Sure, they may cost a little more, but I would go nowhere else. I know I get top care here.

We changed it after three visits. They are always trying to put some extra in the bill. Even if it is just next puppy shot which is within two –three weeks after check up. They are completely checking the puppy again without even asking. Once, I asked to show me how to trim nails, just one nail, one example. They performed complete service and charged around $18 for that. OVERPRICED. Also, they try to take yor pet to the back room and make shots there. Why they do not like to give shots in front of a customer??? Is there any cheating issue? And what they are selling “Science Diet” – the worst food ever! It has one star rating all over the web! I found another hospital, love it, love it, and love it!!! People are great with customers and pets, no or minimal wait and reasonable fees! DO NOT CONSIDER PETS FIRST VETERINARY HOSPITAL as your pet’s doctor! I wonder why does AKC organization support them and provide advertisement of them?! SHAME!
