I enthusiastically endorse Dr. William Watkins and his team at Sammamish Highlands Veterinary Clinic in Sammamish WA. My dogs have been patients of Dr. William Watkins for almost eleven years. I was a new pet owner and extremely protective of and attentive to my two Bichon Frise dogs. One dog, Donny, lived with serious, kidney disease and was not expected to live beyond nine-months old. Understanding my concern, Dr. Watkins was kind enough to work with me as I coordinated my natural medicine protocols with his conventional veterinary care. Thanks to that team effort, Donny lived to be happy and healthy until he was 5 ½-years old. I know this was an extraordinary medical situation and Dr. Watkins was absolutely wonderful with his veterinary care and especially understanding of my love and concern for Donny. The staff at Sammamish Highlands Veterinary Clinic is excellent. Their warmth and positive attitudes plus professional standards make it a place where you and your pet feel welcomed, valued and confident of the care and treatment they deliver. The staff is punctual, responsive to inquiries and very accommodating when you have a medical need or emergency. Making complicated medical terms understandable is one of many of Dr. Watkins strengths. He goes the extra mile when it comes to communication and follow-up. He explains the medical condition and then recommends a protocol plus all the costs and implications of that protocol. He provides the information, his recommendations and we, as owners, decide what options we want to take. I highly recommend Dr. Watkins and the Sammamish Highlands Veterinary Clinic team because of the honesty and integrity by which they work. I have recommended this clinic to family, neighbors and friends because of the care, professional skill and warm friendly atmosphere they provide to our animals and to us as guardians of our best friends---our pets. Stay away! If you want your pet to live a long life, go somewhere else. The location is great! The prices are high but they are comparable to other eastside locations. The problem are the Doctors (Dr. Nicole Graffis), the greed made them forget what they learned in school. #GreedyVetKilledMyPet We went to Dr. Nicole Graffis, heres the story of how we lost our 9 month old kitten: The kitten was fine, he was eating well, drinking water and was playful. The only problem was, he would vomit every morning, like an alarm clock, 6 am on the dot. We were a little concerned, so we decided to take him to the vet, to check if everything is OK. As one would expect, we were looking forward to some blood test, stool test.. fever test.. the usual.. Dr Nicole Graffis started strong, talking about an obstruction, possible surgery and proposed to keep him at the clinic for the day, do x-rays and IV fluids. We got scared and agreed.. that was our mistake We picked the cat right before closing with a $500 bill and "kitten is fine" paper. After we got home, the cat would not eat, walk, in hours he couldnt keep his head up or stand. Next day he died When confronted, Dr Nicole Graffis told us: "but you agreed to it!" Yes! She was talking about surgery! The cat was OK when brought in, it wasnt dehydrated, it didnt need an IV for all day and tons of drugs.. It was ok to tell us, lets get some samples, go home.. But why order cheap tests? its much easier and profitable to do the routine IV/XRAY. She didnt even listen to us that the cat is eating and drinking, she just followed the "money making" procedure. As I said they are expensive, and thats ok given the location. But for the money they charge, they should take time to listen to when a pet owner says. Her greed or indifference killed our baby. My advice, make a drive and go somewhere else, where the doctors do remember what they learned in school.

Our cat began having seizures in October 2015 and we took him to see Dr. Watkins. He explained seizures, the medication, and in general gave us good advice to manage our cat’s seizures. By January 2016, however our cat’s health problems worsened. He developed stage four kidney failure. He had lower disk problems in his spine and the periodic seizures adversely affected the disks and he began to have difficulty walking with his hind legs. Throughout January and February we took our cat into the clinic 3-4 times a week for fluid injections to flush out the toxins and keep him alive as long as possible. The clinic was always flexible in scheduling, and they were very fair about the cost. Dr. Watkins always gave us his honest opinion on the cat’s condition, so that we could keep him alive as long as possible yet ensure he wasn’t suffering. He and the staff made sure Bob had the best care possible. We had to leave town for a couple of nights during this time and we boarding our cat at the clinic. They brushed him, and took very good care of him, and for a reasonable price. n early March we had to put our cat down. The staff was extremely sympathetic and supportive. We were and still are devastated at the loss of our cat. What touched us the most was that a couple weeks afterward we received a card from the staff, and every person had made an extremely personal comment about our cat. They had taken the time to get know him, and cared about him deeply, to them he wasn’t just a cat or a patient, but an animal that they really cared about. If for no other reason I will continue to be a patron of the Sammamish Highland Veterinary Clinic and am confident and happy to have our two greyhounds be taken care of by Dr. Watkins and his staff.

This happened several years ago, but it still makes me angry, so I thought I would write a review to warn others. Our labrador retriever was 14 years old and obviously was dying of old age. But we werent 100 percent sure that there wasnt some other reason she wasnt eating and getting so thin, so we brought her to Sammamish Highlands Vet Clinic, just to be sure (she had been a patient there before). Instead of just telling us straight that our dog was old and dying, the clinic performed what I now believe was unnecessary surgery that cost us $2,000. Instead of prolonging her life, it made the end of our poor puppys life more miserable. She ended up dying about a week later. Sometimes vets just have to tell you that Im sorry, but doggies get old and stop eating and stop drinking and they die. I feel like they were playing off of our sadness and worry and figured we were easy targets to get more money out of us before our dog died. I think this vet clinic was very unethical and would never take any of our other pets here ever again.

Our family has been taking our pets to see Dr. Watkins for 12 years. Id highly recommend him to anyone. He has always been very kind, considerate of our emotional ties to our pets and our pocketbook, and we trust his experience and knowledge. While its not the most modern office its clean, well-supplied and the staff have always been very helpful and patient. They have gone the extra mile many times for us, once he even spent 30 minutes examining a dog we rescued and didnt even charge us. - Sheri Watson Sammamish, Wa

Dr. Watkins and the entire staff at Sammamish Highlands have cared for our dogs for over 20 years. They are kind, caring and excellent providers. When one of our dogs developed an immune system disorder, they coordinated care with a specialist and helped us extend her life by several years. When the time came for us to euthanize her, they made that event as comfortable for us and our pet as possible, allowing us to comfort her through the process. I recommend them without reservation.
