You have to struggle so hard to get them to provide you with care. I had been very sick for 10 days so I called them on a Tuesday. They said my doctor would call me back before 5 pm that day. He didnt. I got a call the next day saying to go in for a chest xray. So I did first thing that morning. I got there and a snotty receptionist said that there were no orders for an xray for me and acted like that was that and I should turn around and leave. I told her that Kaiser called me and told me to go in for an xray so please find out what went wrong because Im taking time off from work and cant afford to be wasting my time. She did do what I asked, but I had to TELL her to do it! She didnt offer! The next morning, Thursday now, I still had not received any care whatsoever so I called Kaiser and they said my xray was "still processing" and my doctor would call me in a day or so. I said that I know for a fact it only takes 5 minutes to process an xray and I need care! She said she could "ask the doctor to be on the alert for my xray when it was done processing." A few hours later I got a call from a nurse and she said my xray was "still processing" but the doctor looked at it and I dont have pneumonia. She didnt say anything else so I asked her what my care was going to be. She told me about a few over the counter things I could go buy at the store. I said, "Look, I know I need antibiotics. I asked for them two days ago and Im still waiting for care. Ive had thick green phlegm from my lungs and sinuses for 12 days now. I would like some antiobiotics or for my doctor to provide me some kind of care TODAY." A few hours later I finally got a call from another nurse and she said my antibiotics had been ordered. I said I was home sick today in Washougal and couldnt go all the way to Salmon Creek to get them. She said my local pharmacy could call the Kaiser pharmacy and get the prescription transferred and hung up. I called my local pharmacy and they asked for more information than just that! They said they would research it out and try to transfer my prescription but that the information being given was not very helpful. They said, You know youll have to pay full price for this prescription and that we wont be able to bill Kaiser because they are an HMO, right? I did NOT know that! They didnt bother to tell me that when they said I could have my prescription transferred! Summary: Kaiser is a big, overly bloated bureaucracy that functions worse than the government. I dont think they actually care for their patients. If you want care and you are stuck with Kaiser, you might have to be extremely persistent in order to get care in a timely manner.

So far horrible, but I havent been able to see a doctor yet! New member January 1 this year and I am still not "registered" in their system, although they threatened to cancel me if I did not pay which was the 1st notice of payment I received. I received a Health ID # via phone that does no good because they cant find me in the system. Scheduled and appointment to see a new doctor and reception sent me up to his waiting area when he was out sick. After 30 minutes of waiting I went back down and the girl saw her mistake, right on the same screen she had up to sign me in! Rescheduled for two day s later, went back, and they canceled my appointment with no notice. Rescheduled for next week and hoping third time gets me in. Meanwhile, the mail prescriptions were set up but they just called and are threatening to cancel it if I dont call back. I did, and guess what? They cant find me in the system with my Health ID number! They are supposed to call me back when they sort this problem out... I sure hope their doctors are better than their administration when I finally get to see one!

I cant even give a rating because my Kaiser experience has been so poor! 0, thats my rating, but I couldnt post this unless I gave it at least one star! I paid for Kaiser healthcare the end of December, have not received my policy or card, keep getting emails and letters to pay my bill, that is paid. Got another bill already to pay for February! Im unable to register online as a patient because Im not in the system. Ive spent over 4 hours on hold and with reps who are unable to help me, I contacted Kaiser online for assistance. The phone number they gave me to call got me nowhere except back in the same loop of level 3 reps who have not helped. I need to have a cornea transplant done, made an appointment to meet with an optometrist, but that cant be found in the system either so I know dont who Im seeing or where to go! And I had heard such good things about Kaiser. I am so frustrated and angry, and in need of healthcare.

I am still on hold - waiting in the order of my phone call to be picked up... 1 hour and counting. Trying to get my son in to see a Dentist today for major tooth pain. I dont think I have ever been on hold this long before. I am wondering if they are even open (I have been on hold since just before 8am on a Tuesday morning). I think I will have to go to their office and talk to someone in person to get served. I could have driven there and driven home in the time I am waiting for them to answer their phone. Perhaps if they dont answer their phone, they have less people to help... This is ridiculous! Being on hold is preventing me from getting other things done. Update - once I got to the 1 hour mark the call hung up on me!!! I am laughing out loud. Wow this is bad.

We have been Kaiser Permanente members for nearly 35 years. Yes, I have had long phone waits to schedule an urgent appointment, have disagreed with my doctors evaluation, and have been frustrated with a lack of follow-up. But in 35 years there have been only a handful of these situations. Every medical facility has times when demand overwhelms the staffs ability to handle calls or the doctors advice doesnt meld with the patients need. My doctor cares for my whole health and (this is important) offers excellent care when it counts. Ask my son when he needed surgery to remove a cyst. Ask my spouse when he was diagnosed with lymphoma. Be an advocate for your own health. Eat healthy and exercise, schedule a doctors visit before it becomes critical, and relax and be patient.

I love kaiser but my last visit i left devestaed. I am a about to be a first time mom and was so excited to see my little gut for the first time. The lady who did my ultrasound was so rude and did not even give me a chance to view my new baby. I was told the appointment is typically 45-60 mins i was only in there for 30 and she rushed me out. I showed up early and was the first appt of the day so i didnt understand. I left crying because i was promised that i would get to look at him... I only wanted a minute.
