My insurance company provides a case worker to help me navigate the health care system with a newly diagnosed disability. I needed a root canal after a period of bed rest and the original dentist that started it caused some burns to my mouth by inappropriate application during the first stage of the root canal. The case worker called this dentist, Sweet Smiles, and was reassured that they could complete the root canal. They got me in quickly but on the day of my appointment I called and asked if I could reschedule as I suffered an injury that day and didnt feel well.(ruptured eardrum)They told me that if I rescheduled they wouldnt take me until Nov., I felt pressured to come. When I arrived the tech noticed I wasnt feeling well and told me I should reschedule she could "get me in Monday instead", discouraging. She kept saying I should leave as she was worried I was a contagion risk to the clinic. The dentist came in and questioned if I had an allergy or cold. I explained that it was an hour drive because I live in the country. That I was not contagious. They did a couple quick x rays and the dentist came in and believed that I not only needed the root canal finished but also needed two more root canals. She then said she refers all of these root canals out, contrary to what they told my worker and much less than what a standard dentist offers. I just had an exam at the last dentist and they told me i only needed this root canal. After reading the reviews I believe my gut instinct may be correct that she exaggerates the need for root canals so as to refer them out of her office to avoid providing more than basic care. Is she not skilled or qualified? The staff was very young and reminded me of a teaching clinic. This office is on the lower level of the building and not handicap accessible. This is one of few badgercare clinics but much lower quality than others. For me, it was an needlessly discouraging experience. There is a clinic in Milwaukee called Smilee Dental whom far exceeds this clinic. It doesnt seem like the Grafton demographic would choose this Sweet Smiles unless financially required, and I just hope Sweet Smiles doesnt think its ok to be sub-par because they serve the more poverish. Because thats how if feels.

Sweet Smiles Family Dentistry is a total joke. I brought my 5 and 7 year old boys there for the first time. When they called my first son back for his appointment, I was told I had to wait in the waiting room. First red flag. I felt very uncomfortable letting me young children go back alone. I should have walked out. Then when it was my 5 year olds turn they told me they couldnt get his X-ray because his mouth was too small..I thought that was strange. Then after examining his teeth, they told me he had four cavities on his molars and would need a root canal to fix them. And they determined that without evening having X-rays from him. That did not sound right at all. I was just disgusted with the whole experience at Sweet Smiles. I went home and posted my experience on facebook I posted where I took them and asked if anyone has heard of a 5 year old child needing a root canal. I had several friends who commented saying they had horrible experiences there too and some of them said that their teeth had been messed up by them. So I took my 5 year old to a pediatric dentist for a 2nd opinion and low and behold he has no cavities at all and does not need a root canal and they were able to get X-rays on him. I am sharing my experience to warn other parents about the suspicious activities that go on at Sweet Smiles Family Dentistry. I would never trust them with my children again. The Dentist is not very educated and the fact that they wont let you watch while they give the exam.....NEVER AGAIN.

Worst experience at a dentist ever! They were nice, friendly, and it was clean. I thought it would be a good experience, but I was sure wrong. I have a fake tooth in front I asked them not to touch, she kept leaning on it while pulling another tooth. That wasnt even the worst! Where I got the tooth pulled I was bleeding so bad I had to go to the emergency room because it wouldnt stop!! They told me to go back to the dentist to get it packed. I went to the dentist 6 hours after leaving the emergency room (once the dentist opened I called to get in). They wanted me to pay for the visit because "it wasnt anything they did and wasnt considered a follow up". I refused to pay and Im sure glad I did because they didnt do ANYTHING. They told me because I went to the er that they couldnt do anything and I should just use gauze if it bleeds again. I was bleeding so bad that gauze did NOTHING. I went through 3 bath size towels soaked in blood. The dentist Told me that it was because I had to be smoking that made it bleed. I told her multiple times I dont smoke, but she kept telling me that had to be the reason and there was nothing they could do. Why not tell me over the phone theres nothing that can be done if I told you what happen at the er and exactly what they used?! I will never be going here again. I will also add Ive had multiple teeth pulled elsewhere and NEVER had a problem close to this!

The staff is very rude on the phone. Every time I have called at the instruction of the Dr, they inform me rudely that unless they called me there is no reason for me to call. My insurance changes at the end of the month and the Dr is trying to work with me to get the work done so that we dont have to start authorizations all over, etc and the Dr advised that I give a call on Fridays to see if the next authorization has come through. Every friday I call and I am told that unless they call me its not in. Problem is, I call the insurance and the authorization was sent to them electronically Wednesday and no one has called. I called again and asked to speak with someone else and I told her that according to website auth has been on file since Wednesday and I need to get on schedule and she placed me on hold and checked and sees the auth but then wanted to schedule me out in July. What part of, "The Dr and I have already talked and you are to get me on schedule as emergency so that this can get done by end of month" does this office staff not understand. For real. VERY RUDE OFFICE PERSONNEL. Believes they are all knowing and that no one should challenge them but in actuality they honestly have no clue.

For those who are writing the bad reviews you ppl must have been drunk when you went in. I called Tuesday had a appointment made the next day. Went in all the assistants were friendly, the Doctor was very informative. Within 45 min she cut and pulled a infected molar. I say it took 45 min only because when I did feel pain she stopped and gave me another numbing shot. I have no pain at all and that was yesterday. She also prescribed pain and antibiotics for me. If all you have is badgercare be thankful that this doctor will even take the time to look at you. Take what you can get, not put this office down because something didnt go your way. Each doctor is different in what they know they can do or know they cant do so if they turn you down for any reason its probably to save you time, money, and pain not cause they dont know what they are doing. I would recommend this place to anyone. Oh and as for kids I seen 5 kids in there yesterday all ranging from 3-10. Every kid came out happy.
