To start, I am not thrilled to be writing this review. I put a lot of thought into whether or not I should, but have decided that others should be aware of his practices as well. I was a patient for a total of 3 years, which consisted of 14 visits. Yes, 14 visits. Dr. DeRose doesnt wear a lab coat, but rather a t-shirt and pants usually, even when doing dental work - this was fine with me, provided the work was good, but this irked my significant other. After our first few visits, both of us noticed a trend of Dr. DeRose mentioning expensive one off tests, that werent covered by insurance. The one I found valid was to test for mouth cancer. Fine. Yet, to purchase specific toothbrushes from him, mouthwash, get this guard, that guard, etc. etc. it became a bit excessive. Just $500 here, and $500 there, no biggie. He even quoted a night guard at $1200, which was supposed to be $350 per insurance guidelines. 1st incident: On two separate occasions, fillings that were put in by Dr. DeRose fell out in less than a year. This happened to both my significant other, and myself. Not having had many fillings in my lifetime, he said this was normal. I have since found out otherwise. 2nd incident: His former office manager Danielle also used to demand co-pay at that time instead of waiting for Delta Dental to send the EOB (explanation of benefits) and the amount due after your visit. I did find this odd, but not a deal breaker, so I always complied, and frankly, never read the EOBs I received in the mail. This was a rookie mistake on my part. After my calculations, and companions to my EOBs from the insurance company, Dr. DeRose over charged me by ~$950. I brought this up in person at one of my visits, and he ensured me that this would be looked in to. About that time was the departure of his office manager Danielle, and he then brought in an insurance specialist. I dealt with his insurance specialist on and off for several months, sent her my excel spreadsheet of the details, and she had agreed to approximately ~$700 of it, but was not finished with her analysis before she left DeRose Dental. It took about a year of phone calls, but I was never compensated fully for the over charges, but instead was sent a very specific check for $426.81 with no additional information. Still havent received a call back. 3rd incident: Several years ago, Dr. DeRose sent me to a specialist for a root canal, which went perfectly fine. I had the root canal done knowing that I would need to have two crowns installed afterward. While I wasnt thrilled, I understood. Dr. DeRose took the impressions, sent it off to a lab, and then put in the crown. ~$2700 Every subsequent visit I made was to have him look at the bleeding around the crown, and to help me understand why things get stuck in it 24/7. He said that this happens with crowns, and it just one of those things Ill have to deal with, but to now start coming in for cleanings 4 times a year (insurance covers 2, and recommends, 2). His dental hygienist was even surprised by the level of inflammation, and how many things were stuck in the crown with each subsequent cleaning. I have since moved out of the area, and saw my family dentist. First visit he says that there is a gap in the crown that shouldnt be there, and no wonder the irritation. The crowns are supposed to have complete contact. As well, my gums developed scar tissue that had to be surgically removed around the crown due to chronic infection, and inflammation. This single crown replacement will again cost ~$1600, and since it was put in less than 3 years ago, insurance will not cover any of it. As well, he again has not returned my phone calls. Either Dr. DeRose was not knowledgable enough to notice this gap, or chose to be dishonest. I just wouldnt risk visiting Dr. DeRose - find someone else. I thought being a fellow Canisius alum was reputable enough, guess not.

I had a couple of fillings at a popular chain dental group in WNY and they recommended a tooth extraction for one of my other teeth. The doctor commented, "I would never work on that tooth". The fillings never felt complete, I could still feel gaps around the edges. The only upside was the "affordability" of the treatment. I did not go ahead with their extraction plan and instead found DeRose Dental through Google. The positive reviews encouraged me to give them a try and they gave me an appointment right away. The most striking thing about the service at DeRose Dental was the professionalism. I could tell how meticulous and thorough the doctor was with each of his work. He checks and re-checks things to perfection. From time to time he explains what he is doing, so that you get an idea of what is being done to your teeth and why. He re-did the fillings I got from before and now they feel smooth and seamless. He also recommended a crown instead of tooth extraction, which I got done just today and it feels great! I am sure I could have saved some dollars by sticking with the previous dentist, but I am really glad I didnt. Dr.DeRose was worth it! I would most highly recommend his dental services to anyone!

I am very happy with the treatment and care I received here. Until this week, I havent had a decent medical experience in at least 7 years. My first appointment was an emergency after fracturing a tooth and chipping another one. The procedure was well executed. I appreciate the doctors discussion of patient goals, options, and expected outcomes. I also like his focus on developing an integrated long term dental plan for the patient. I came here for an emergency, but I will definitely be back for follow up care in the future.

Staff was nice! Even the dentist seemed nice! I went for an emergency cracked tooth. He knew he couldnt fix it but declined to tell me until after he performed a "Check up" on all my other teeth so he could cash in on my misfortune. When the 10 min visit was over he wanted $50. I said "For what, you didnt do anything but look in my mouth and inform me you cant help" I just paid him today. He hired a lawfirm that threatened to sue me over such little money SMH! Find a dentist that cares IMO

Fabulous! Ive hated dentists and the dentistry industry my entire life until now. Dr. DeRose and his entire staff are courteous, professional, VERY knowledgeable, and nonjudgmental! After each visit, I feel like everyone in the office really cares about my experience and wants me to be as healthy and happy as I want to be and are never pushy or preachy :)

I never thought I would write a review on a dentist office. But I have had a great experience with Dr. DeRose. He explains everything that needs to be done or that is happening to thoroughly. I have been going to a chain dentist for my entire life, was always disappointed and felt like they were selling dentistry instead of actually helping.

I have been going here for about five years now. The staff is always very friendly and accommodating. Dr. DeRose is very thorough and comfortable to work with. He explains everything that he is doing or recommending, and has done a lot for me in the time that I have been going to him. I cant imagine going anywhere else any time soon.
