First up @ Cleveland Clinic....part of expansion and in moving forward as a leading health care facility should consist of your staff treating all citizens with the same dignity and respect they give others. This will require that they get away from their old school way of thinking about minorities in this country, hire people that can explore, handle, and investigate these negative allegations. Youre receiving from other groups that are experiencing disparity for a reason and should do something to correct this! Why? Because your reputation as being world class is at stake and is on the line because of them. It is no mystery that Marymount has treated its black patients and guest differently and have been getting away with it for years, I might add. ( for shame, for shame!) Their non-verbals speak for themselves and perception of having power, privilege and superiority has diminished and no longer exist especially in the industry of health care. Ah yes! A change is a coming and they need to get with the program and stop taking their personals out on people because of the color of their skin or because they dont act or look like them. Do they not value the oath they took to serve all people? I might also add that Idealistically, this is NOT good business in the long run. Secondly, your nurses are not doctors and have been given this power as they treat patients differently, people can sense and feel being treated this way. No way am I singling out a certain group either, a couple of your cafeteria prep/workers, ( black and white), may need this course in ethics and in having a personality as well. I think theyre confused systematically by the way they have viewed the way people of color have been treated in the past. ( learned behavior) It is my hope that someone from your corporate take a look within, renovations should start with your people. A company is only as good as its people they employ who represents them and change is nothing to fear. If anything they need to embrace that people are people and we all deserve the same when it comes to quality care.

My experience with Marymount hospital was terrible. I waited while other people who came in after me were admitted to the ER before me. Once back in the ER room, the nurse kept looking at me like I was some kind of idiot who should not be there. She was exceedingly rude and her bedside manner was cold and almost hostile to me. The doctor accidentally ripped the speculum out of me while it was opened, and then asked if I was okay. What do you think Doc? After my lab results came back fine, they discharged me after the attending doctor told me, even if my labs had come back bad all they would have done was given me a blood transfusion and NOT TRIED TO FIND OUT WHY I have been experiencing what I have. He was in agreement my condition was excessive and suggested I see my doctor right away. That’s just dandy guy, especially since my doctor wont see me and I have been living with this hell for 2 months straight. 60 days, I realize you are male but just try to imagine! I wonder if there are firemen who would let a chimney fire burn just because it started in the fireplace and say "Call us back when the house is on fire?" Probably not, but this is what I feel this hospital staff did, moreover, I was basically informed that even if the house did catch on fire, they wouldnt put it out anyway. Thanks Mary Mount Hospital and all of Cleveland Clinic staff. I hope the horrible, rude, nurse reads this and is embarrassed of her attitude, and I hope the doctor reads it and retires. What point is there to be a doctor if you dont at least TRY and help people?

I think Im really being generous with this rating. I went in around January for my period. I was having more severe than usual type of cramps, on the verge of fainting and oftentimes this gets brushed off as a light issue thrown in with the rest of the symptoms of menstruation. I honestly wanted to see what was wrong with me. I went in and it felt like the ER staff had an attitude about me coming in for my period. But I eventually did get treated and went home feeling slightly better. The second time I was up here with my 80 year old grandfather. It turned out that he had pneumonia. Again the ER staff was chaotic and it seemed like everyone was pissed off at something. The nurse who was in charge of my grandfathers room was clueless. I called for her to come in b/c my grandfather was having trouble and I found her at the desk talking and laughing leisurely on the phone and she had this expression like she was doing us a favor. I cant remember if she was a registered nurse or practitioner, either way her attitude was unprofessional, she was rude and uncaring. I dont care about my experience, but when it comes to my relatives, especially the elderly, thats where they cross the line. It didnt help that I knew other patients were getting better treatment than this.

I went to the gynecologist. Going back I went to her about years ago and she did the same thing what Im about to tell you right now. The woman was actually judging me and talking to me about my weight. I told the lady about me having menstrual cycle problems and my hormones. She kept avoiding the subject and telling me how fat I am. Im not obese. Reminding you when I went in the past when I was only 10 pounds overweight she was judging me and not concerned about the problem Im having but give me a lecture how to lose weight. Told her Ive been on many diets and then she was actually getting mad at me cause I didnt lose no weight. I forgot why I never went back to the woman hospital in Marymount. Youre better off at University Hospital the people there are more caring and theyre more considerate of your feelings and they get to the problem. Do not go to the woman hospital in Marymount theyre awful and she never helped my problem

I would never step inside another Cleveland Clinic hospital or any hospital in Ohio if ever injured again. Doctors today are rude and condescending, especially the one I seen at Marymount named Dr. Smarsch. came in with an injured wrist and told me that he seen I was given narcotics in the past for injuries and told me he isnt going to give me anything for pain cause he seen a pattern happening and he didnt like it. First of all to all you A@$#^&e doctors out there: Our care isnt free so you shouldnt judge or dictate ones care, and second, you could care less about your patients cause your only in your job for the money. The only way Ill go to an emergency room is if Im dying which I dont see that happening soon. Thank god Im moving to Florida soon cause these hospitals in Ohio all suck. To hell with all doctors, their very useless condescending people. I rest my case.

Our family hasnt had terrific experiences here in the past and had heard some not so great reviews from other folks. However, we were VERY pleasantly surprised with my moms recent outpatient surgery for kidney stones. The hospital has been renovated and is bright, airy and welcoming. EVERYONE was GENUINELY (not forcibly) pleasant with us from the minute we walked in the door. Everyone did the "little things" and went out of their way to be kind, sympathetic and helpful. The doctors explained things and gave us the opportunity to answer questions. Dr. Laperolye, Dr. Cook, Michelle & Stan the nurses, Allison - everyone was fantastic. I am so happy we now have a place to go should the need arise. Previously, we were a little lost. Thank you for taking great care of my mom!
