My daughter needed extensive work done to a tooth in the very back of her mouth. We scheduled an appointment almost 2 months out. As the day grew closer, her tooth really started to pain her. I was called to pick her up from school one day because the pain was so severe. I physically went to the office and informed them of the situation. They told him they had no open appointments and that she would have to wait 2 more weeks. The school told me that I would have to have a note from the dentist before they could administer the Tylenol that I desperately asked them to give her during school hours. I WENT BACK to the dentist the WEEK BEFORE the appointment, asking for a note for the school. I was given the same reply, with little to no suggestion to help elevate the pain she was experiencing. They told me that they could not write a note because they would have to look at it (the tooth) first. That is why I have been trying to get an earlier appointment. I told them on BOTH occasions that we would be there but would like an earlier appointment if possible. The day before the appointment, they called my cell phone, instead of the work phone that I have given them numerous times and have listed as an additional contact number each time they ask me to update my information. I was at work when they called and we are not permitted to bring our phones in so when I got off at 6:30pm, I saw that I had a missed call from them. I called at least 10 times the next morning but could not reach anyone as they later claimed they were having problems with the phone. I picked my daughter up from the school the day of the appointment, signing her out early, so we could get there on time, just to find out that our appointment was canceled. The reason was because I did not confirm my appointment with a return phone call. I was told I could talk to the office manager but no one ever came to the lobby so I left. I have called several times since then and have not gotten a call back when I leave a message. I am very disgusted with the poor customer service and look to take my children to another dentistry. We have been going there for years but this will be the last.

Dr. Lawhon is absolutely AMAZING with her patients!!! The staff is awesome and spent time on taking my childs xrays when their old dentist never even got any xrays!! But before I go...I really must comment on all the idiots that have posted a bunch of BS on these reviews! First of all...you guys should really get a job and stop being busy bodies! What in the world is so hard about confiming your appointment?? And if your excuse is you work all day...one question...Dont u have a lunch break?? Yes all of you do...so all you have to do is call on your break and say YES I will be there tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!! Really what is so hard about that!! Think about it this way...when you have a birthday party most will ask to please RSVP so they can plan accordingly. Well same at the Dr. office. It is really hard to run a business and not know who in the heck is going to show up or not!!!! Also because Dr. Lawhon is so great...there is a really long waiting list...so if one plans to be there then just confirm the appt. because if not I know through experience that the appt will be given away to someone who really wants it. WHAT IF YOUR CHILD WAS IN PAIN AND YOU NEEDED AN APPT?? WOULDNT YOU WANT TO KNOW IF SOMEONE WAS NOT GOING TO SHOW UP SO YOU COULD GET THAT APPT FOR YOUR CHILD. STOP BEING SELFISH PEOPLE AND CONSIDER OTHERS!!!!!

Extremely sub-par customer service. Office Manager Rene is narcissistic and very unknowledgeable regarding Medicaid, and children with disabilities. Upon further research it has been discovered that they are under review for potential Medicaid fraud per Angela at DHS. Appointment was made in November and scheduled for 1/19/17. They contacted me and stated the Dr had to attend a conference and the appointment would need to be re-scheduled (within this 2 month time frame the child had developed a painful issue due to a broken tooth). My options that were presented to me were, 1. Drive 3 hours to the Columbia office, or, 2. Wait for the nest available appointment which was March 4th. This child is a foster child residing in a very rural area. They are REQUIRED to provide service under Title IV federal regulations. I explained that both those options were impossible for us to accept. Rene told me then I would need to find another dentist and hung up on me. It was then that I contacted DHS and the issue with fraud was brought to my attention. DO NOT DO NOT bring your little ones here!

I really even hate to give it one star. Should have known our first visit when we waited almost 2 hours in the waiting room to be seen. They only have one dental assistant who works through 4 patients (all in one room together) before the dentist then comes in and checks them all one at a time. Decided however to give them the benefit of the doubt and scheduled the 6 month follow up. They called me the day before the appointment to reschedule as the dentist had a schedule conflict, fine...no biggie. They re-scheduled us for another month out. Called me the day before the appointment to confirm the appointment which I confirmed. Went the morning of the appointment and there was a note on the door that the office was closed until the following week and that "all attempts were made to call patients and reschedule appointments". There were several other people crowded around the door who were clearly not notified of this closure either. Needless to say, this was the last straw and we will be finding another dentist who runs their office in a more efficient and professional manner.

I was given a appointment a month out from when I called. So once my child appointment date came around this month March 9th, I signed my daughter out of school to take her. While on the way to the office, I realized I left my daughter insurance card so I called to see if they needed it our could just use her ss#. The lady that answered said oh we had a emergency in the office and was about to make phone calls to cancel all appointment for today. Im thinking..... its about 1:30 when were they gonna call my baby appointment was at 2:15 So i said um okay and she said they will make calls a little later, that day, to reschedule appointments. Well Im still waiting on that call since the 9th. Smh. Just poor service. I waited a month when I couldve found another doctor by now. I had just read a review that same day that said something similar happened. Then it happened to me.

I live a hour away from Florence and had an appointment for two children for two weeks. Gave insurance information over the phone not once but twice. Representative name Heather called yesterday to verify insurance at 9:30 am. So Im on the way with both children at 11am for a 12:15 appointment and Heather calls at 11:07am to tell me that they want an insane amount to see both children because our insurance wasnt ran correctly. I asked for the office manager to call me back and still nothing. Can you believe that Heather asked if she could reschedule after all of that? Absolutely not! Please be careful when using this company, they have no concern for you at all!!
