Greenfield Animal Hospital has been our pugs favorite place to be besides in their dog beds, on our laps, or at their food bowls! Everyone you will encounter there are the kindest, most compassionate people you could ever dream to care for your pet. My story: Almost three years ago our then 10 year old pug was exhibiting odd symptoms of hindquarter weakness and uncoordinated gait. Our former vet examined her, diagnosed a rapidly progressive neurological disorder, and gave a very bleak prognosis. She even gave me her phone number in case our pug did not make it through the weekend! I was shocked and devastated. A cousin in Buffalo told me about a pet accupuncturist who had helped her dog after a back injury...maybe accupuncture could help our Molly? Serendipitously, the very next morning there was a full page feature story in the paper about Dr. Akawis practice and how he had helped a paralyzed dog to walk again. I called and was given an appointment for the next day, a Sunday! Our other, then 11 year old pug, Walter, was being treated for advanced arthritis, so I brought her along "for the ride". From the moment Walter and Molly walked in the door they somehow sensed this was a place of calm and safety. Their usual behavior of shaking, whimpering and fear of the vets office was replaced with wagging tails, excited running in circles, and happy yipping. How could they sense this right away?? The office seemed more a spa then a medical office. From the first consultation and treatments that day I have observed nothing but compassion, professionalism and dedication from everyone who has helped us - from Dr. Akawi and Dr. Serfis, to every technician in the office, to Becky and the reception staff. I was given hope for Molly, and both our pugs received great comfort with the positive effects of their accupuncture trratments. Each treatment and herbal supplement is tailored to their individual symptoms, and the dogs are calm throughout....they even sleep through the 1/2 hour the needles are in place. Molly, almost 3 years later, is doing amazingly. The neurological progression has been kept at bay, and her "drunken sailor gait" has just become part of her personality...her nerve reflexes have become stronger and she has regained strength as she runs, plays, climbs stairs, and even jumps in the car by herself....especially when she knows shes going to the vets! As a result of Walters coming along "for the ride" her arthritis discomfort was eased, and she stayed energetic and playful for another year. The next year she began exhibiting some puzzling symptoms, which sadly eventually pointed to a brain tumor. As her symptoms progressed, the accupuncture kept her calm and pain free, each treatment giving her a boost of energy and activity. I will always be grateful for the palliative care she received....no unnecessary tests if you decide not to....and she was able to enjoy her days in the comfort of our home. Our sweet Walter, 13-1/2 years old, passed peacefully in her sleep in her own bed last March. When I brought our grieving Molly in a few days later we were met with such compassion and love by everyone - they gave me all the time I needed to talk and cry through my grief. We even received hand written messages from the entire office in a sympathy card. Molly has since recovered from her grief and confusion (yes, pets grieve, too!) with the help of targeted calming points in her accupuncture. She remains strong and happy, soon to turn 13 on St. Patricks Day! I travel 45 minutes from Latham to Greenfield Center for our appts and would never hesitate to make that drive. As soon as I exit 13-N off the Northway Molly lifts her head and sniffs and knows were near. Shes on her feet and looking out the window, barking with excitement. She strains to jump out the car when we arrive, drags ME inside, and starts barking as soon as were in the office. I hear, "Mollys here!", and for the next hour shes in her glory. I most highly (obviously) recommend Greenfield Animal Hospital for your pets. I thank and love them all.

Best vet in upstate NY along side George Glanzberg without question-- and I know!!!!! I have been to vets who have written books on alternative care near NYC who couldnt even detect and diagnose severe dehydration! Boston and Cornell specialists--- for vet care for extreme sick pets all misdiagnosing my pet. I had a diabetic cat and dog -- Mallitus and Insipidus(proof lightening can strike twice!) I received false diagnosis and mis-treatments nearly killing both my pets, costing me a bloody fortune from Peter Farrell at Burnt Hills Vet Clinic, for yrs! I trusted what he was saying was true and it was a $40,000 mistake. He told me my dogs (diabetes condition he failed to diagnose because he did not run the tests properly) was a rare disease that hadnt been discovered or named in medical books yet, which caused my boxer Bernie to be in diapers for the rest of his life (10 yrs in Depends from a stretched bladder muscle due to mis diagnosis!) He told me the pharmaceutical company He told me my special insulin for my cat was no longer avail causing him a severe bout of almost fatal fatty liver syndrome. I called the co and they gave me the name of the other big manufacturer still making it. Peters excuse --and i quote him the pharmaceutical co withholds that info from veterinarians! That mistake cost 5 grand/should have never happened. ----- Frank knew the course of action with my dog from the moment we met him-- no misdiagnosis! -- Frank is bright and humble and actually practices medicine! He wasnt resting on good ole boy Cornell club laurels/and ego as the other vets Ive taken my dog to had. I adore Frank Akawi with the heat of a thousand suns! If he treated humans, he would be my PCP! His services arent inexpensive -- my only complaint is the price of vet care -- but I could not own a pet in upstate ny if Dr. Akawi was not available to me for medical care. There are a lot of veteranarians who clearly should not be practicing medicine out there beyond spay neutering and mending bones. I love that De. Akawi also treats w chinese herbs and welcomed me using a homeopath for my dog named George Glanzberg in /north Bennington in conjunction to his allopathic care -- another truly gifted vet. Frank is a natural born healer --- his acupuncture treatments helped my aging female boxer -- we had to carry her into his clinic --- she walked out! ps. he isnt infallible by any means -- the dif is, he knows when he is limited -- and wont string you along in pretense.

We have a 4 month old mini pig and were in search of an exotic vet to see her for a routine physical and a spay procedure. After trying nearly 30 veterinarian offices, we landed at the Johnstown Animal Clinic….Well unfortunately, we were less than satisfied with their service and misinformation and again found ourselves in search of a reliable vet. By complete coincidence we happened upon the Greenfield Center Animal Hospital driving by and saw the “exotic animals” sign. We couldnt have been any happier than to stumble upon them! From the minute we stepped through their door we were blown away! Between their extremely clean and nicely kept facility, to their more than kind and helpful receptionists and assistants to the incredibly knowledgeable and benevolent exotic vet, Dr. Steeves. We were in awe at how immediately comfortable we had felt. It seems as though everyone there goes the extra mile. Every aspect of the visit was explained with detail and we couldnt appreciate more the amount of one on one time Dr. Steeves spent with us going over information and care for our new piglet. We were even grateful for the follow-up phone call the next morning by the receptionist just to check on Miss Piggy after a routine Rabies shot. Of course we returned for the spay procedure. As expected, it was a flawless visit. Not one single complaint! An estimate was provided before anything was performed. The procedure was completed in half the time we had expected and on top of that, when we got her back you wouldnt even know she had surgery. There was no sign of lethargic behavior or appetite loss. She did great! In all, the biggest downfall is that we live 35 minutes away, but that doesnt stop us from recommending these guys to anyone in need of a vet. It is by far worth the drive. We can’t say thank you enough! 5 Stars everyone!!!!
