You have to wait at least an hour past your appointment time to get called into a room, and then 15 - 20 min more to see a doctor. Unacceptable. When you walk into his office, everywhere you look there are tons of advertisements for his "skin rejuvenation" services and skin care products that hes selling. Pushing it down peoples throats is not something I would ever expect from a primary care physician. Its everywhere you look. There is a huge board on the floor with photos of him performing wrinkle reduction procedures. He has two TVs for people to watch while they wait, both are never on. A third TV that is ALWAYS on, loops a video about the services mentioned above. So youre stuck in a waiting room for 1 hour past your appointment time watching the same loop about skin care services that you dont want. Id understand the longer wait times if he was swamped. But every time Ive been there, there was never more than 2 - 4 other appointments in the room with me. He also has a large doc-in-training staff. So it’s not like hes shorthanded. Out of the numerous visits, Ive only actually been seen by Mark Jagust once. Prime example. I was experiencing pretty odd pain in my left rib cage. When I got there, I had to wait 1 hour and 25 minutes to get into the room. There were only 3 people ahead of me. I waited another 15 minutes, and a "doc-in-training" comes in. Spends 3 minutes with me and sends me out with a referral to get an x-ray. So just to get an x-ray I needed to spend over 2 hours in the office, and drop $20 on a copay. My old doctor would call in the referral. Jagust requires the visit. I got the x-ray at a radiology place, and was told it would take 1 - 2 days to get back to Jagust. 1 week and 4 days later, I still had pain, and I havent heard anything. I called...I get a receptionist that was completely nasty. After an argument, she tells me she will "find my x-rays, and have the doctor look at them". After more than 1.5 weeks, the films have not even been looked at!? She calls me back at almost 8pm to tell me I need to come back in for the results. I asked if there was anything serious I should be concerned about, she said she cant say anything over the phone, and I need to come in. Of course now, Im worried, and the earliest appointment is over a week away. I show up, again waiting over an hour to get in. Surprisingly, I get to see Jagust this time. He comes in and looks at my chart. Im expecting results now... he looks up and asks me "what seems to be the problem?”. No results, hes never looked at my chart, and never looked at my x-ray for over 2 weeks! After explaining Im there for x-ray results, he finds the x-ray report in the back of the folder and starts reading it in front of me. We get interrupted by a knock on the door. Its a phone call that he MUST take. He leaves for 5 minutes. When he comes back he tells me they found small nodules in my lung. Its nothing serious and that I need a cat-scan to get better measurements of it. I have to pay another copay of $20, so I could get told I now need a cat-scan. If he had read the results, when they came back, he would have seen I needed a cat-scan and just called to tell me to schedule one. Instead I had to wait over 2 weeks, and then pay him more money. The way the receptionist made it seem was like they found something serious, and it could not be discussed over the phone. She literally told me "it’s illegal to provide results, good or bad, over the phone". I get my cat-scan, and Im told that the results will available the next day. After 4 days, I just called in. The receptionist tells me the nodules are just scar tissue, and that I have nothing to be concerned about. Wow, suddenly it’s no longer illegal to provide over the phone results. I asked her if she was sure I didnt need to come in for another visit, waste 3 hours of my day and shell out another $20 just to have the doctors little helpers confirm these results. She giggled and told me to have a nice day. Find a better doctor.

I am my 81 year old mothers caretaker/point of contact for health issues. My mother and I met with Dr. Jagust and his office staff a couple of years ago and were told that I could call the office to talk to Dr. Jagust about her health care issues. I called today to discuss medical options for a new health issue. Patti was the receptionist I was communicating with. Within 2 minutes of our conversation, she put me on hold. I was on hold for at least 7:00 minutes. I called the office back, she immediately picked up the phone and I mentioned we must have been disconnected. When she picked up the conversation from where we left off, it was clear she did not listen to a word I said. At that point I asked to speak to Dr. Jagust (I was willing to set up a time at his convenience). I was told that would not be possible, he would only speak to me during a visit with my mother present. This is perfectly fine, but I am in California and his office is in New York. This is the reason why we got agreement from their office to allow me to talk to Dr. Jagust by phone. Patti recalled that I mentioned I would be visiting in a month and said I could talk to Dr. Jagust then. Amazing. I am suppose to wait a month on my mothers health care. Her behavior was completely unprofessional and lacked any compassion for my mother. This is not the first time I have had treatment like this from this office. I have spoke to my mother multiple times about getting a different doctor. Realistically, she is 81 years old, my father passed away recently and Dr. Jagust has been their doctor for years. She is not going to change her routine. A change like this is hard on anyone, especially the elderly. It would be nice if Dr. Jagusts receptionist Patti would have some compassion for an elderly widow who is not used to caring for her medical needs with out her husband present. Regardless of how busy the office is or how many people are waiting in line to be helped, how difficult is it to set up a phone call appointment (that the office agreed it would do if circumstances warranted it) between me and Dr. Jagust? As, I mentioned earlier, this is not the first time I have been treated this way, which ultimately trickles down to hurting my mother. I just received a voicemail from my mom, Patti called her apologizing for what happened between me and her on the phone. Fine, not sure how that addresses what I called the office for. I still dont have an appointment to talk to Dr. Jagust.

Dr. Jagust is the only doctor we have seen that is amazing at diagnosing. Other doctors have failed so bad that one time my husband ended up in the hospital with a dreadfully incorrect diagnosis of pneumonia/asthma when it was just acid reflux?? Dr. Jagust was the only one to get to the root of my husbands many other issues....4 pages of surgeries and ER hospital visits and my husband is barely over 40 years old. I have switched over to Dr. Jagust too and he has been very helpful and watchful that I take care of myself too and not just my husband! What doctor does that?? I do however agree with the wait times being too long. I consult from home and make my own hours so its not as bad for me... I cant imagine another person getting in a doctor appointment on a lunch break! Also obviously Im not a doctor but I know they have a double edged sword when it comes to the time taken with each patient. If you take too long, then theres a backup. If you hurry a visit with a patient, then you can seem uncaring. You cant win. Overall what is important is our health. Im still going... if that office is that busy—well that tells you something! Id feel worried if I was quickly ushered into a quiet office with no people in it thats for sure!
