You know how you take your car to the mechanic with some trepidation, not knowing if youre going to get ripped off for services you dont really need? Well, Id liken my most recent experience with Nanuet Animal Hospital to the car mechanic experience. Roughly $600.00 dollars later (x-rays, blood test, and 2 emergency visits), Dr. Goldman and his team were unable to diagnose what was wrong with our dog, who suddenly couldnt hold down food and was vomiting anything she tried to eat. The doctors couldnt find anything specifically wrong from x-rays, and told us to just keep her hydrated and try to get her to eat something. They didnt seem to have any sense of urgency as our dogs health declined, only suggesting to keep her on a bland diet and keep her hydrated. We made the dire mistake of waiting a few days to see if she improved before returning to this vet. Only to have him suggest another blood test, which then took another day to get the results (and another $200 - at the "discounted" rate, no less). By this point it was too late - she was excreting bloody stools, barely able to stand/walk, and by the 8th day she had passed away from all the internal damage. I suspected there was internal bleeding from how dark her stool was, but I dont think they bothered to check the stool samples for blood and brushed it off as a side effect of slow digestion. There was clearly a larger problem here that was overlooked (at one point in the examinations my doctor stopped to comment on his technicians manicure and her "fancy nails") - maybe due to the vets busy schedule, or a general lack of interest, but Im not really sure why there wasnt more urgency given to my dogs case. Im not expecting miracles here but the doctor couldve at least tried to make a diagnosis instead of brushing off her symptoms and administering tests slowly (we took her to this vet twice in 1 week because she didnt improve after the first visit. During the second visit he recommended a second set of x-rays, a blood test, or exploratory surgery just 3 days before she died. Why couldnt all these tests have been done when we first came in with the emergency? Why wait until the 2nd or 3rd visit?) If this were a human would it be permissible to allow a patient in your care to go 7-8 days without food? Each additional day we waited for results was another day our dogs health declined, and eventually her body just gave out. Wish I had listened to all my friends telling me to take her to another vet when we still had time. I would not recommend this vet for emergency care.

I recently moved to Nanuet from Chicago. I took my male bengal cat Romeo here for neutering. After shopping around and calling every Vet in the area they had the best over the phone estimate. The initial visit was for a check up and blood work to make sure he was ok for anesthesia. During the visit I told the Dr. Goldman that my vet in Chicago advised me to wait for him to grow a bit before having him neutered and that he had begun spraying in the house so it was time to have him "fixed". Because of the my schedule I was told I could bring him in the night before the surgery and pick him up the next evening. This was the week of Hurricane Sandy. I was given a call to bring him Monday the night before the surgery. The hurricane came on Tuesday and me and my wife were staying at our in laws due to high ground and would not of been able to have our Cat there especially if he spraying. The office had lost power for a few days during and after the storm, however, Dr. Goldman lives close by and came by to check on Romeo regularly. I was able to pick him up on the Thursday following and found out that the Surgery had actually been done prior to the power going out. They kept Romeo there to help me with my situation due to the storm and his spraying in the house and did not charge me any extra for boarding. I brought him home and you could hardly tell anything was done except from his change in behavior. No more spraying and he has become so affectionate without all the testosterone in his body. The staff was very friendly and involved in the care as well and made sure he was comfortable during his stay. Thank You to Nanuet Animal Hospital for everything. I couldnt be more pleased with my experience and wouldnt think of taking my pets anywhere else.

We adopted Tiger our cat about four years ago this September and called The Nanuet Animal Hospital to make an appoint for a complete exam, the appointment was made for the next day Every one there was terrific,Dr. Goldman gave Tiger an thorough exam.and all went Tiger was healthy. About three months later, after letting tiger out one night he had gotten int a fight with another cat when he ran in I examined him and found nothing, a few days later he wasnt eating and was listless, I called and told them Tigers symptoms and was told to bring him. Doctor Goldman examined Tiger and found punctures on his abdomen he was bitten a developed an infection. Tiger was operated on to clean out the infection, he stayed over night and we picked him up the next day, we could see he was feeling better already , Doctor Goldman and his wonderful staff saved Tigers life we were given antibiotics to give him and were told to call the next day to let them know how he was doing, I am 67 and always had pets, I strongly believe The Nanuet Animal Hospital Doctor Glodman and his staff are the best and most caring animal hospital I have used. My Deepest appreciation, and deepest regards joel fishman

We bounced back and forth between Oradell Animal Hospital and Emerson Animal Hospital for a while, but when my dog tore something in his leg neither of those places had acceptable solutions to fix it. My sister did a lot of research and came across Dr. Goldman, called the office to get information, and was so comforted by the staff. We scheduled the procedure as Dr. Goldman suggested, which was unique among all the other options we were told AND the least invasive, and our dog was running again in a few months. They take such amazing care of their animals. We even joke that our dog gets better follow-up care than we do because of all the phone calls to check in! The puppy we got next also goes to Nanuet and when he had a stomach incident that required an emergency visit to Oradell after hours, Dr. Goldman called the next day to see how our pup was doing. I have a new puppy that just started here and they are so helpful and informative. I have now seen their range of care from puppy through extreme senior and the level of care is consistently amazing. We are so thankful for all of the wonderful staff at Nanuet Animal Hospital.

Nanuet Animal Hospitals staff shows great care and concern for the animals they serve. I have been bringing my cats to them for several years and feel I can trust them with the care of my pets. One thing that really stands out for me is how well the staff managed a very difficult situation last summer. A cat I had adopted and loved dearly, sadly became ill after we had her for only 4 months. She became ill quickly and and sadly she passed away. The staff was honest and kind when sharing with me the different options and clearly they were not focused on money but what was best for our family and for our Lacey. They helped her pass peacefully and allowed us to be there and provided tissues and kind words. What will forever stick with me was the sympathy card they sent us which included a card stock that stated "In loving memory of Lacey" and her paw print. Linda especially helped us through that hard time. The staff continues to take wonderful care of our cats. I would recommend anyone with cats to choose Nanuet Animal Hospital.
