My husband and I have 4 dogs. They are our world and we love them more than words can express. We would do anything for them. That includes providing them with what we consider to be the best medical care available to them at all times. THAT is why we have taken them all to St Francis for approx 4 year now. We live 40 minutes away and have many other vets local to us. The care at St Francis in our opinion, surpasses all our previous veterinary experiences thus far. In terms of emergency or specialized care Long Island Veterinary Hospital in Plainview is right up there with St. Francis. From the moment we are greeted by the staff (whether on the phone or in person) to the outstanding, meticulous, compassionate expert care our babies receive frim Dr Parendo (AND Dr Phelps on Thursdays), we are comforted in knowing that EVERYONE there LOVES what they do and GENUINELY cares. Whether it be an in person appt or a phone call at home, we have NEVER felt rushed nor have we ever been made to feel like a bother in any way. There is a compassion and an understanding there that Dr Parendo/Dr Phelps AND the entire staff possess that is not easy to come by. They are there for us through the good times and have embraced us with support and compassion during the deeply painful difficult times. Our babies have had everything from basic care, specialized care, surgeries etc there and I would never even dream of going anywhere else! We are grateful and blessed to have found St Francis. With Deep Gratitude, The De Mauro Family

Dr. Parendo has highly exceeded my expectations since he has become the Veterinarian of my 4 beloved dogs. He is warm-hearted, compassionate, meticulous & has never rushed me thru any appointment, & answering all of my questions, so that I left with a full understanding and satisfaction. Dr. Parendos surgical skills, I would also like to add, are truly 2nd to none. I recently rushed my 8 y/o Rat Terrior in at 3:30 pm for emergency tx. recently. Dr. Parendo could have easily turned me away, and sent us to VMCLI for emergency surgery, but he didnt. My boy today is healing amazingly, and I cannot but Thank the quick response of Dr. Parendos excellent team, and the Dr. himself for the long & pristine surgery he performed on my boy. Surely another Vet could easily have sent our extremely complicated and highly sensitive case to a Surgical Specialist immediately, yet Dr. Parendo, is highly-confident & highly-versed in his field of veterinary medicine and highly skilled. I could not Thank him along with his competent, caring, & well-seasoned team of Vet. Techs. & front staff, more than enough. All & all, I am very grateful & blessed to have my fur children under the guise and care of St. Francis Hospital for Animals in Oakdale, NY., and I highly recommend this practice to anyone coming into the area or just looking for an above average Veterinarian hospital for their beloved fur pet. Because after all, they are our family, and our family, deserves nothing less than the very best!

If I had to pick one word to describe this animal hospital it would be COMPASSION!!!! From Chrissy, Carl, and the rest of the very knowledgeable support staff to Dr. Cohen and Dr. Phelps. For the past 50 years of my life I have never been without at least one dog in my life. Sometimes as many as 27 when I was a breeder, shower, rescuer, and foster mom to doberman pinschers. Needless to say I have worked with many veterinarians some good and some less than desirable. Our most recent fur Angel is a lovely bull terrier we rescued 13 months ago. Tessie was in need of urgent care the morning I called the office. After explaining her problems to Chrissy I was told to bring her in right away. Dr. Cohen saw our girl and immediately jumped into action doing blood work, x-rays, and even referring us to a specialist for an ultra sound. While the prognosis for our girl hasnt always been what we wanted to hear she has been on medication for the past 3 weeks. In that time Dr. Cohen has called us no less than 3 times EVERY day even on her days off to see how Tessie is doing. I call that DEDICATION AND A TRUE LOVE FOR ANIMALS!!! Not the almighty dollar. Our girl is still fighting a tough battle so all the love and prayers for her recovery are greatly appreciated.

I truly wish that I could rate Dr Panero and the staff at St. Francis Hospital more than just 5 Stars because since we started bringing our pets to Dr. Panero sseveral years ago we are fianlly confident and comfortable with the wonderful care our animals receive at St. Francis. Having 3 dogs and many more over the last 35 years we have finally found a Veterinarian whom we trust with the care of our animals and who is also mindful of the pet owners feelings and aware of the financial considerations regarding the care of a pet. Dr. Parendo is not only an excellent Veterinarian but an extremly kind and compassionate person who while putting the animals needs first, he will only order tests and teatment that are actaully necessary and not any that are unnecessary or frivolous. In a world where many animal hospitals may take advantage of a pet owner its refreshing to finally find a place that provides the best possible care for our wonderful pets with compassion, honesty and integrity. Thank you to Dr. Parendo and the whole staff at St Francis Hospital for Animals

For over 20 years, St. Francis Hospital for Animals has cared for our menagerie of four dogs and three cats. In some cases, St. Francis was the first and last visit in the lives of our four-legged family members. The entire staff’s care and expertise during the puppy, kitten and adult years (and then also their compassion during their inevitable, sad passings), just cemented our loyalty to such a professional and caring veterinary practice. Years later when our daughter became an adult had a home and pets of her own, she never gave a second thought as to where she would bring her newly adopted kittens to be seen and cared for. Although there are veterinarians much closer to our home, we wouldn’t think of taking our beloved pets any place else. Even though I am sad to have ended the relationship with Drs. Schmeiser and Indrieri, I am confident that our new Lab, Chaucer, is in the best of hands for many years to come.

After taking my new puppy to a nearby veterinarian for her first appointment, I felt unsettled because the appointment was rushed and uninformative for a new puppy parent like myself. When I switched to Dr. Keith Parendo at St. Francis, I knew I found our vet! He was patient, gentle and loving towards Daisy, gave me a little bag with information and welcome gifts, and he thoroughly answered all my questions- of which there were many. The staff were all pleasant and helpful and the office was clean and kept nice and cool. I would rather travel the extra 15 minutes to go to Dr. Parendo because I know he loves his furry friends and their families! You will feel comfortable, at ease and in good hands!

After using Drs Indrieri and Schmeiser for our rescued dogs and cats for more than 20 years, we were concerned when they retired. But even in retirement, they did the right thing for our animals by turning the practice over to Dr Parendo. He is friendly, caring, and professional and has surrounded himself with quality people. Dr Cohen recently performed successful cancer surgery on one our cats, and Drs Carter and Phelps helped us last week as we had to make the tough decision to euthanize our old beagle, Judd. We have high standards for the care of our pets and rescues, some of whom have special needs, and were thankful we have quality veterinary care we can depend on.
