I left work early in severe pain and got to the emergency dental office a little after 1PM. The waiting room was filled to capacity with people sitting on the floor outside. I waited, in severe pain, until nearly 4PM to see the dentist. He had little to no patience with me, most likely due to the waiting room still being full. While his english is great, his accent is terribly thick, so thick he was hard to understand. We eventually were able to determine that the first step of a root canal was what was best. He tried to explain to me something about my insurance not paying for the second part but I didnt quite understand and just agreed with him until he would do the procedure. A bib was put around my neck and two separate injections were done to numb my tooth before the Attending called the dentist to her. They talked for a bit and then my dentist returned and informed me that they couldnt do the procedure because my blood pressure was too high and I could bleed excessively or even get a stroke. I understand this but the pain in my mouth does not. I dont know how youd fix a problem like this. I dont know if you should just hire more staff, more dentists. Maybe you could screen patients ahead of time, check their blood pressure before they wait for nearly 3 hours? Look, I know that this place is for us poor folk. The people with no insurance or medicaid, but come on! When I first walked in to Eastman Dental I was impressed, then I took the elevator down to emergency and I was disgusted with you. You put us in a basement with little to no phone reception and make us wait for hours (some of us in a lot of pain) in seats so close to each other it makes the entire environment cramped and uncomfortable. Then you put the only restroom behind a locked door. On top of that were sitting right next to the mens locker room so we can get sneered at by some your staff. Sure, you offer a great service but you do so by taking away your patients humanity, by treating them like you dont care because they dont have enough money to make you care. Well, I suppose you dont. Youve an opportunity to fix this, to show the rest of this city that Strong is the best. To show us that no matter what your background, or how much money youve got, health care is a human right for all of us and when it comes to healthcare; we are equals. I doubt youll seriously consider any of my suggestions, but its worth a shot.

Dont go to Eastman Dental. Worst Experience of my life. Was told $3000 for an implant. After finished making the payments I was told I needed to pay another $500 which would be final, then the next week another $800. It never stops. Not to mention the incredible pain. They are basically student dentists so they are taking instructions from someone while working on you, taking pictures, etc while leaving you in incredible pain. After 3 months the implant crown broke the normal tooth sitting next to it. Apparently they set the crown too close to the other tooths. In 6 months the crown itself fell out. I called Eastman Dental and the next appointment I could reserve was in 3-4 months. Then a few months later the implant itself broke. Finally got in to see someone after a year. Was told it was my fault. I didnt come see them for a cleaning often enough. I asked Stephanie why didnt they tell me this or even schedule an appointment for me. She didnt reply. She now say they can fix it, but I must pay more. She will give me a "discount" from the regular price and they dont guarantee their work. Something should be done about Eastman Dental. I plan on suing them in civil court but I lawyer fees are very expensive, so its going to be small claims court. Im sure they dont care. If they loose its nothing to them. I have a few other friends with similar experience of Eastman Dental quoting a fee for dental work and increasing it a number of times during the procedure. Im thinking of creating a blog with my experiences and others. Someone should be done about Eastman dental before someone seriously gets hurt.

This was the worst dentist experience ever! First Ill say I did not choose this place because of price, my insurance paid for it, I have no comment on price. About the experience? I get Called back, I walk into this large room, with dividers, fitting about 20 patients in this room, basically working like an assembly line. This hygienist sits me down, with very poor English, asks me about my chart and my issues Im having. I explain them thoroughly, havent been to the dentist in about 4 years blah blah blah. The usual. She then asks me 2 minutes later what made me decide to come to the dentist. Well a cleaning Mrs. Chief listener, and obviously for you to stare at me and not hear a word i said. So the cleaning consisted of her using the water scaler and rubbing toothpaste all over. She did not once turn on the brush. She squirt water on my teeth with toothpaste all over them, and suctioned up the water. She sat me up and said I was all set. I looked at her in disbelief. She asked if I needed anything and I said something to get all this toothpaste out of my mouth. She proceeded to hand me a Kleenex. There was no flossing no rinsing no scrubbing. Nothing. This was the biggest waste of time, and my yearly cleaning. I will never go back to that office.

The worst dental cleaning I have ever experienced. I went there once for a cleaning, I had high expectations for this place since I recieved such outstanding medial care from the doctors affiliated with strong so I expected the same with their dental. I ended up leaving with extreme dissapointment and disbelief. I hear my name called back and I sat in a chair in a big room with 10 other people getting cleanings done, zero privacy, that wasnt such a big concern for me, the care was. The hygenistist first examined my teeth then she went on to "clean" my teeth, all she did was spray water on my gums and scraped my gums only on my front teeth, then used the brush without it even turned on and brushed my front teeth and then said I was done. I couldnt believe it. They didnt floss they didnt scrape the plaque off my teeth, they didnt even clean all my teeth! Worst of all, a dentist didnt even check the hygenistists work! Im extremely disappointed that I wasted my yearly cleaning at this place, my teeth were not cleaned and the service was no where near to being fulfilled. I hope they take this feedback and the feedback of others and improve. Needless to say I will never come back to this "dentistry" again, I wouldnt reccommed it.

Word of warning, if you are trying to call in to make an appt., use a landline (unless you have unlimited minutes and endless patience). Considering the reputation of the school, youd think theyd have a better phone system (it even cuts the recording off intermittently). It is a teaching facility, but as a past patient (my dentist graduated, and moved on to Pediatric Oral Surgery), I always thought that the care I received was well worth the waiting and inconvenience. It was a surprise to walk in the first time to find the circular area, divided by low walls, with up to 12 people at work simultaneously. The staff is knowledgeable and they share their experience with the students, many of whom were already qualified dentists in their home countries before coming to the school. When I needed a root canal, I was referred to one of the folks who helps out with instruction. He did an awesome job - most notably, unlike my former dentist in Webster, shot my face full of pain-killers and allowed PLENTY of time for it to take effect. Overall, a good experience.
