I have been going to Sayville Animal Hospital for over 20 years with my pets, when I first moved out to this area I had a large Dobie Fred that Dr. Di took care of and did a fine job. Then my two new big boys came next and they spent their entire lives being cared for here and the service was great. Now I have a little girl who has been getting the best of care here up recently, maybe the last year or so. Sadly the change in doctors has been disturbing but more than that, the staff has failed to do what is asked of them, when she is sent back for nail trimming or ear cleaning or anything, some similar Ive noticed when we get home NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. And the sad part is that she has had a couple of nails that have been twisted around into her pads hurting her badly, And when I try to cut her nails she is terrified.....so thanks so much for causing me to TRAUMATIZE MY DOG --BECAUSE YOUVE FAILED TO DO YOUR JOB ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, Ive been forced to do this whatever the risk is, NOW SHE WONT COME NEAR ME AND WE ARE AT SQUARE ONE AGAIN!!!! SO THANKS A HEAP-------- I never intended to say this publicly because have been coming here for so many years, if it happened once, no problem but multiple times showed me that something changed so significantly within the practice that you no longer care about the way you perform and that sickens me because these are living beings, and when you lose compassion for living creatures YOU NEED TO STEP AWAY FROM THE JOB!!!

Ive been using this vet for more than 15 years. the staff is cold and unfriendly. They have no compassion or people skills. You would think that after going there all these years and with 4 dogs, they would smile when you walk through the door. They are very unwelcoming. I am changing to another vet because I want a vet that is compassionate. My dog was there 2 weeks ago and Dr. DiMartino saw her and gave me bad news. She stood over night and then was transferred to a VMCLI in West Islip. That next day after testing and no hope for my dog because she was diagnosed with a mass and kidney failure, I had to put her down. I was devastated. Sayville Hospital for animals never called me that Monday to see if my dog was dead or alive. Nothing. It has been two weeks now and they still havent followed upon my dog Kendal. They knew she was seriously ill and not a phone call. How do you not have compassion?? VMCLI in West Islip sent me a card for my loss and all of their staff signed the card. I was there for 3 hours and they were so compassionate. Sayville animal hospital should take a few lessons on compassion from that hospital. I am going to a vet in Bayport and I will be bringing my 4 dogs there.

I moved here from California 2 years ago and just didnt know who to trust with my beloved pet. Then I found Dr. Shepard!!! I absolutely love him!!! And more importantly my dog loves him. He not only understands my dogs physical needs but also his psychological. My dog Buck has a fear of heights. No table for him. Dr. Shepard says "no problem" Ill exam him on the floor". Buck is 13 1/2 years old and had a large tumor on his chest. Dr. Shepard recommended not removing it unless it was absolutely necessary, since anesthesia can pose a risk. Eventually surgery was necessary because the tumor grew larger and bled. As much as I tried to avoid surgery I felt so confident knowing that he was in the hands of Dr. Shepard. I had such a great feeling about him from the day one. Which made it much less stressful and worrisome while Buck was in surgery. Dr. Shepard did an amazing job! He called me the minute Buck woke up to let me know he was ok. Buck recuperated so quickly and with little to no pain. I cant say enough wonderful things about Dr, Shepard. Im so grateful to have found him. I recommend him to all of my friends, family and anyone who reads this that is looking for an amazing vet. He is the best!!!!

I am so satisfied with the care I received at Sayville Animal Hospital. Last summer I came into the clinic with my very sick Golden Retriever Puppy BEAST who ate something that blocked up his tummy. Dr. Schuman, after x-ray, realized that he needed surgery immediately and saved my dog Beast life. He did not hesitate to treat him and was very fair with the fee for this Emergency Visit and Surgery. This past week Beast mom XEENA was vomiting for 3-4 days. Dr. DeMartino and Dr. Schuman were both excellent with their diagnosis and determined that whatever the dog ate was most likely not blocking her intestinges and proceeded to advise a watch and wait. I followed their suggestions and diet and my dog recovered. it is so assuring having such wonderfully competent and caring vertinarians in our community that care for our pets. A+ for Sayville Animal Hospital!

We have been going here for 6 years. We have left this vet because of 2 major things, the office staff are so unfriendly, and they are overcharging for yearly exams and giving shots that the animals do not even need. this is the first dog we ever owned so i placed trust in this well known office for doing whats right for my dog, one example he was given a bordatella shot every year, and my dog has never or will ever be boarded,. prime example of not even explaining what you are doing to my animal. I am not a vet , i do not know what shots need to be be done when, it is their job to FULLY explain what they are giving the animals and for what purpose. so extremely happy with my new vet!!! wouldnt recommend SAH TO ANYONE!!

I was taking my greyhounds, mutts, cats, etc. to Dr. Di starting in the 80s. Dr. Di and Dr. Shepard are two of the most compassionate people I have ever met. I cant say enough about Dr. Shepards compassion when one of my greyhounds was very sick and couldnt eat. He gave him part of his turkey sandwich and Lucas actually ate it! Dr. DiMartino has always been my go to vet for all my various dogs through he years. I moved to Las Vegas 5 years ago and went through 4 vets before I could find one that compared to Dr. Di. I also love Jackie and Liz, at the front desk. They have always been kind and sweet everytime I was ever there.

I have taken all my dogs there for a very long time and I am very happy with the Vet and the Staff . I read people say the front desk is cold , but if they are or arent it really doesnt have anything to do with what I am there for . They are busy , they see people crying all day , its like anyone who builds up an immunity to bad stuff , you basically have to, to survive it . I get it though , some people want to have a good relationship where they leave their dogs , They have been nice to me though . I have even left my dogs with boarding for a week at a time .
