I am a new patient of Riverview and I am a college student on a college budget without dental insurance. I was up front with them that Id be paying out of pocket and would need to know the cost of everything from the visit to the xrays before they were done and they did an awesome job of doing just that. When I called before visiting they were able to give me an estimate on how much things would cost and then during the visit the estimate was very close to the actual charges so I was fine with that. I also felt like a celebrity when I was not only given a tour of the office but also offered warm blankets and drinks (although being offered juice and coffee (as well as water) seemed a bit counter productive to a dentist office but it was still nice they offered) and I LOVE that all the chairs face the river. That really is relaxing and such a nice view when going to the dentist can be something people dread, I really enjoyed the experience. Everyone was friendly and made sure I didnt have any questions and also made sure I was comfortable. I look forward to returning for my cleaning in a few weeks and expect Ill receive the same treatment. (If not, Ill be back to review again!). I looked at a lot of dentists in this area and Riverview was the most flexible with appointments as well as with prices (especially for out of pocket costs) so that was helpful. All other places were a lot higher and werent very flexible with their out of pocket costs and working with you on a budget. Plus they offered me to apply for this dental credit card and even gave me information about oral appliances that help treat sleep apnea that I am excited to look into as well.

My wife has always had a really serious phobia of dental offices. So much so that she cannot even discuss dentists and before now would be in tears before we even pulled into the parking lot. While it is a subconscious fear it is very real. After numerous bad experiences I found Riverview Dental Designs and Dr. Dias. From the moment I began talking with his staff I felt I had found the right place. They made an appointment for me to meet with Dr. Dias. I met with him and a member of his staff for almost an hour. Their patience and understanding were amazing. We scheduled another meeting in their conference room with my wife and I just to get her to meet Dr. Dias and talk about sedation. Her trepidation was obvious and I had to assure her that we were going to just talk. After that we scheduled her first appointment. The entire staff as well as Dr. Dias are the most understanding and compassionate people I have ever met in this field. The lengths they went to just to make my wife feel as comfortable as possible are unparalleled to my knowledge. While she still has her phobia she has learned to trust Riverview enough that she can even walk into the office and back to the room without burst into tears or having a panic attack. This has taken a tremendous amount of stress off me and her both. They are great with their follow up also. Marissa always calls a couple of times after an appointment to make sure everything is OK. I cannot recommend them highly enough to anyone for their friendliness and their work. William A. Formby

As a new Tuscaloosa resident, I needed to establish dental care in the area. After doing some research, I landed at Riverview Dental Designs. I’ve now had the pleasure to see both Drs. Vandervoort and Diaz for my care. Dr. Vandervoort delivered excellent care during my initial exam, listening to my history and current concerns, and has been a pleasure to work with in having crown work done. He referred me to Dr. Diaz for management of my TMJ disorder. I’ve now seen Dr. Diaz for a TMJ consult that included administration of Botox, as well as a subsequent appointment for administration of Juvederm for my nasolabial folds and mouth commissures. Dr. Diaz was patient in listening to my complicated TMJ surgical history, provided a thorough explanation of his recommendations, and has delivered Botox injections that have alleviated my tension and pain, as well as Juvederm injections that have made me feel more confident about my appearance. Additionally, the hygienists, assistants and front desk staff have been a delight to engage with during appointments. I’ve been fortunate to have Lana assist Dr. Diaz for my last few appointments. She is one of the nicest people you could hope to meet, especially in a setting that many associate with a bit of anxiety. She has been so helpful in putting me at ease, anticipating my needs, and communicating with me throughout procedures to make sure I’m comfortable. My many thanks to the entire team for their superior delivery of exceptional dental care.

There is not a day that goes by that I do not thank Dr. Paul Diaz and his associates at Riverview Dental Design for my beautiful smile. As a small child I had to take medicine that caused my teeth to become discolored, and I rarely smiled. Not even in my wedding photos!! I moved away to South Carolina and the dentist I had there bonded my teeth, so when I moved back home I could not find a dentist in my area that could work on my teeth. About 15 years went by and I would go to a local dentist yearly for cleanings, but other than cleanings I had nothing done to my teeth and I was starting not to smile again. I started looking on the internet and came across Riverview Dental Designs, the phone call I made that day changed my life forever. Dr. Diaz and his staff are like family to me now, you do not hear many people say that they love to go to the dentist, but I can honestly say.... I love going to my dentist, Dr. Diaz. I enjoy sitting in my dental chair looking out at the wildlife and the river, it takes your mind off what you are having done. I highly recommend Dr. Paul Diaz and my husband recommends Dr. Riley. There is not a day that goes by that someone does not compliment me on my beautiful smile and that to me is PRICELESS!!!! Thank You Dr. Diaz and thanks to your great staff!! Sherry

My wife has been going to this dentist for about a year now and has really liked the service. They have always been very gentle when cleaning her teeth and are personable people. My wife scheduled her last visit because she chipped her tooth and wanted to try and take care of it before the Christmas holidays. So she made an appointment and had the tooth repaired and all was well. She asked how much she owed and they told her it was covered, that she didnt owe anything. A few days ago we received a bill in the mail that charged us for an emergency appointment. They claim that their policy is if you schedule an appointment outside of the standard 2 checkups per year it is considered an emergency. They didnt mention anything about this being an emergency appointment over the phone when my wife scheduled this, they just slapped on a $75 fee because they want to. I was very disappointed when we talked to them about this issue and they acted like they didnt care, they said it was just their policy. Needless to say we will be finding another dentist that doesnt tack on hidden fees.
