This is my first time writing a review but I felt it was necessary and felt compelled to tell my experience. I had gone to Sharp Coronado Emergency because I was experiencing severe uterus pains and cramping from a large fibroid ,which also caused other symptoms . I had gone on a Tuesday evening the doctor was excellent and staff that evening . My labs came back quickly and everything looked good except fibroid which was a size of golf ball in uterus lining , in which , I.had gotten a shot to alleviate pain. The next day my pain was even more intense , light fever , ect, my husband called ER to let them know and he was told to bring me back. When we arrived for second time , a completely different staff , doctor and I was looked at as if why are you here again . The doctor Anvari , acted as if my fibroid pain was insignificant and I explained that I was in serious pain, I only have one kidney and the swelling from fibroid felt pressure on ureter. She said a remark in which she downplayed the pain I was in as if fibroids arent life threatening , she was generalizing instead of looking at my situation as a unique , individual. I have had two major surgeries in past and every doctor I had were superb and were very caring plus had excellent communication skills and most of all.empathetic to the patients needs and good listening skills. Dr Anvari lacked all of the necessary qualities that represents a good doctor. My husband even said to her that yes , fibroids arent life threatening but my wifes medical history should be considered because I have only one kidney that functions only at 44 percent due to obstruction.of ureter , a previous blockage in which I had surgery for two years prior. The second day experience left me feeling disappointed in our health system and Dr Anvari deffinately didnt remotely represent Sharp Emergency in a way in which is positive . The experience was absolutely horrible , I have always been treated excellent and felt that my concerns mattered but this doctor acted so unbelievable cold , im incredibly grateful that I have only experienced a situation like this one time , otherwise I would have no faith in our health system.

This place is a joke! So I take my sister in law in because she is in terrible pain. They have a receptionist sitting behind 1" thick ballistic glass in an alcove centered in the waiting room, with a nice chair facing the receptionist. The receptionist cant hear much through the glass and the patients cant hear much from her. This doesnt stop the receptionists from asking a never ending list of highly personal questions. So the volume of discussions that occur at the reception desk carrys all the way out to the parking lot! So while seated in the waiting area, I am treated one after the next, to the most riveting details of each individuals medical history. At full volume! Often repeated several times sine neither party can really hear through the glass. Some colonoscopy here, some hemorrhoids there. These poor people having to discuss their most intimate moments in life. while onlookers listen in. Could it get worse? Oh yeah. It did. About the fifth person accompanied by his high school love of his life and wife, figures out in short order that he knows this receptionist from High School. And vice versa, and so does the wife. You aint heard nothing until you listen in on and hour of medical histories given in cheerleader squeals encompassing every single person these three knew in High School 40 years ago! I began wondering it I could order up a euthanasia for myself! Anyway, as it turns out, all the questions asked by the receptionist of all the parties that sat down, were asked again of those people later on inside the emergency unit. 4 times!!!! It was all a useless exercise in group humiliation in the waiting area. Also it was interesting to notice that the drug addict got his fix while we were there.....but my sister in law...still crying today in horrible pain....got an ibuprofin! What a joke!

Worst E.R. experience ever! It was my first time in SD and unfortunately I suffered from food poisoning as soon as I arrived and went straight to the nearest hospital unfortunately this one). The woman in the front desk was awful. She was rude, didnt take my symptoms seriously, and intentionally kept me at the bottom of the queue. Only one nurse on duty even though it was a Saturday afternoon, and he didnt take my symptoms seriously either. I told him that I was cold and ate nothing beyond the 4 crackers that I brought in and he offered nothing. Then as he told me to return to the waiting room, I saw him give blankets to other people. Ive never felt like such a 3rd-class citizen in my life. 3 hours of waiting and watching every person be seen by a doctor including people who came in long after me. When I mentioned it to the woman at the front desk, she said that shell change my pain level on the computer and make sure that Im next (I cant believe she intentionally put my pain level low in the first place!!!), but after being skipped by another 4 people, I had had enough. When I told her, she didnt care even though I was the only person who was there for 3 hours and still got no treatment. After her sarcastic apology, I told her that I was going to go to another hospital, and she rudely responded "Okay, go to another hospital." On my cab ride out of there, the cab driver even told me that that hospital has a reputation for being prejudiced and showing favoritism towards the wealthy and people from that island. I wish my cab driver that drove me to this hospital told me that because I would have told me to take me elsewhere and avoided this whole mess.

Is zero stars an option? I went to the ER here because I was nearly blacking out from horrible stomach pains and could hardly move or walk. They proceeded to put me on a bed in one of the rooms and not send a doctor to see me for nearly 2 hours. I was in such agony that I wanted to just go back home and suffer in the comfort of my own bed and bathroom than lay in a cold hospital room without a doctor even coming to see me. I wouldnt have gone to an "EMERGENCY ROOM" if I thought my symptoms were so insignificant that I could just wait hours and hours to be seen. By the end, all they did was take an x-ray and essentially say that there was nothing wrong with my stomach. PS x-rays dont show much besides bones and Im pretty confident I didnt have a bone upsetting my stomach. The doctor didnt even touch my stomach or anything to feel if something abnormal was going on. Literally she expected the x-ray to be her only evidence. Then I got a $4500 bill in the mail. What a fraud this place is. Overall, this hospital is the worst. I cant imagine worse service if I tried. Extremely slow, rude, uncaring, unprofessional, and basically criminal in the rates that the charge for their complete lack of services actually provided. Next time, Ill go to the park and find a squirrel to treat me because that would honestly have been more productive. Dont go here. You will be extremely disgusted by the poor service.
