This review is to attest to the life-transformational treatment that Dr. Stephey had provided to my 16 year old son, Augustine, which in less than a year, had, for all intents and purposes, healed his congenital handicap. Augustine was born with certain ocular limitations, which was diagnosed as high Astigmatism and Amblyopia (lazy eyes) at the age of 3. He struggled all his life with activities ranging from attending school to driving a car, taking the SAT exam, or doing daily life activities at home. None of the prescription glasses his numerous eye doctors had prescribed over the course of 12 years could correct for the sharp, jarring “starbursts”, that his eyes perceived of normal light sources such as lamps, headlights, or even TV’s and overhead fluorescent lamps. They, also, could not correct for his inability to read the chalkboard in a classroom as his condition wasn’t simply due to near-sightedness. As such, Augustine was forced to learn and see through “hearing”, which hindered his development from the age of 3, through nearly half of high school before we met Dr. Stephey. Learning through hearing, basically translated into “self-visualizing” what he was trying to see, but couldn’t totally distinguish through his eyes, and thereby relying on his ears to tell him what was going on around him. Consequently, he frequently misinterpreted his surroundings due to his physical handicap. We took Augustine to numerous ophthalmologists and optometrists, including an osteopathic specialist in Fullerton over the course of 12 years, but they could not ascertain an effective course of treatment beyond prescribing various correctional lenses or practices such as “patching” (covering one eye at a time) or playing video games to stimulate the ocular muscles with, which showed miniscule gains, especially in the evenings. Upon being referred to Dr. Stephey through a family member, certain tests were performed that had never been done by any of Augustine’s previous physicians. Upon which, Dr. Stephey prescribed certain lenses that were coated with a certain film that filtered the light that Augustine’s eyes were seeing. Instantly, my son could read the board in his classrooms, his grades shot up within weeks, he scored high on his very first SAT exam 10 months later, and he developed better attention span. He was previously expending far too much energy during the day to “see” what other kids could see without strain. That physical strain had forced him to take daily naps to recover. Not only can Augustine now read and drive, but he is even eligible for Lasik surgery, which all his previous physicians had stated could not be performed on him due to his condition. Most importantly, Dr. Stephey’s miraculous treatment regimen has significantly improved my relationship with my son. All his life, I had misinterpreted his abridged attention span, daily naps, mediocre academics, and limited physical activities, as laziness. Little did I know that it was a handicap that he was born with that could be corrected with the proper treatment. And now, he has a range of colleges he’s eligible to apply for with the academic success that he’s realized in the 10 months of treatment under the care of Dr. Stephey!

At a very early age I was diagnosed with ambylopia and astigmatism, I wore glasses since I was around the age of Five years old and loathed looking at anything with or without glasses. Everyday was a struggle and just felt like a grueling chore to go to school, reading, tests, and trying to take notes looking at a chalkboard was just... Terrible. Around middle school I went to SoCal Eye center where they diagnosed me with ambylopia and astigmatism yet again, we got referrals to see an optometrist in LA but to no avail they could provide no assistance to my cause. At this point I lost hope, and when my aunt said Dr. Stephy has "Vision Therapy" and such I shrugged it off as another quack trying to sell a scam. This was not the case, his one consultation opened my "eyes" (haha) and realized he had a solution. After his one meeting I was eagered to order a new pair of glasses with him which was HALF the cost I was paying for glasses at the LA optometrist. Thats right glasses that offer more help to my eyes for HALF the cost! Dr. Stephy changed my life forever, he is a legitimate angel, and I will never forget what he did for me. If you suffered all your life like me, PLEASE JUST MAKE ONE APPOINTMENT WITH HIM IT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE!!!! HE EVEN SET ME UP WITH A 504 PLAN (HE PUSHED FOR IT AND ACTUALLY HELPED ME GET IT) AND NOW MY SCHOOL WORK HAS IMPROVED AND MY GRADES PLUS I GET EXTRA SAT TIME. THIS MAN IS A GOD LIVING AMONG MEN!

The best optometrist EVER. He is the reason why my family and I are academically perceiving because of his skill. He has the most extensive knowledge of education, special education and learning disability I have ever encountered. He helped us when I felt no hope was available. If you suspect that you may have a learning disability make a call. I was diagnosed in my 30s in graduate school. He helped my family. I will always be grateful.

Dr. Stephey is THE BEST! You will not find anyone like him who spends the time to explain things and make sure you understand. If you are having vision issues, difficulty with reading or reading comprehension, or anxiety, I recommend contacting his office for an appointment.
