BUYER BEWARE--They bait and switch you from an offer too good to be true, for a plan so expensive, youll need financing or to break into your emergency savings to pay for it. I moved to Moorpark in 2015 and was way overdue for my routine six-month cleaning and check-up, but since this has been an aberration in my overall adult life of dental healthcare maintenance, I was surprised with the first-time new-patient examination findings. I went to the clinic thinking this was a great deal--an exam, x-rays, and a cleaning for a low price of $59.00. Their disclaimer that you only get the cleaning if you dont have periodontal disease didnt concern me, as I was confident that didnt apply to me. A simple ordinary tell-tale sign is my gums dont bleed when I floss, which is daily, no less than once a day, though often more often, to remove any food stuck between my teeth. The x-rays were a cheap quality and type, and several of the tooth images didnt come out and so the technician kept repeating them, giving me more radiation exposure each time, and until I realized this was a chronic issue with either the machine or the software. At first I was very cooperative and flexible. But when it became several times where the machine wouldnt perform, I lost faith in the equipment they were using and in their process. Then I got the exam from the dentist, who was very cordial and friendly and made great small talk. He said all my crowns, and fillings looked fine. He told me what I knew, about my receding gum lines, something I was aware of and have always been told can be managed with good oral hygiene and diet. But then he told me the bad news. I had severe periodontal disease so I couldnt get the cleaning I had come in to receive. The dentist said I needed laser cleaning and resurfacing or planing, or something like that--a procedure that would cost me thousands of dollars. Then then handed me off to their financing and scheduling plan coordinator. I was upset and said thanks but no thanks and I got a second opinion from another dentist in town. I needed a cleaning, and I welcomed a real exam and set of x-rays that were clear and complete. It is my personal opinion that Moorpark Dental Group and Orthodontics is a scam. I feel I got ripped-off with their bait and switch from an offer for a very inexpensive exam, x-rays and a cleaning for a price too good to be true, to reel me into a very expensive and questionable treatment I didnt want or need. BUYER BEWARE! If they tell you you need their laser treatment for periodontal disease, hold onto your wallet and go get a second opinion. I feel really ripped off. I want my money back.

Its obvious that this dental practice thrives not on the teeth cleanings and general checkups but on the extra additions they assure you that you need...that very day! They were pushy, forceful and downright rude with their recommendations. They insulted the work of a prior dentist that had done a bridge telling me I needed to have it redone today or I could be in big trouble. I almost believed it until my husband, later in the day said his prior dental work was wrof too! Although we have no problems and no pain and no concerns with anything, we needed thousands of dollars of work done that day. We both felt that they made up things to be wrong with us and after reading other reviews later we know its not just us. I feel sorry for the poor fool who actually falls for their urgent pleas and pushes them to make a $4000 decision that day. They wanted me to pay $4000 for a bridge redo plus they had $1000 for something else that seemed to be made up. Dont fall for the nice building and fancy equipment. We are going to try and find a family dentist in the area that is more interested in our health than a fancy paycheck. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else.

A lot of these reviews are from the previous owners... I went there when they were there and yes.. they were definitely special... BUT--- The new owner Dr. Huss is amazing... He is very professional, and knows what he is doing. I see people saying High Pressure sales? Come on, that is your fault... If you cant say "No thanks, Id rather wait on that." then you are the one at fault. They are, like any other dentist, a business, that has to pay rent amongst other bills. Of course they are going to recommend the best procedure for you. Its your job to be an adult and either be honest and say you cant afford it, or just say no thanks or ask for a cheaper procedure! Just because they want to make money, does not mean they are a crappy place. Dr Huss pulled a tooth from a friend of mine, and he didnt even need pain meds the day after. The level of skill that he possesses far surpasses ANY dentist I have ever been to. I used to HATE going to the dentist, now, its just a regular part of my life. I love this place!

Moorpark Dental has a new owner that is wonderful!.Words cannot express how absolutely fantastic Dr. Huss and his staff are..Everyone that works there is amazing..They go over exactly what needs to be done in detail, and they always make sure you understand everything..Dr. Huss takes time with his patients, and doesnt just run in, and run out of the room..Most procedures can be done here because specialty doctors( oral surgeon, periodontist, orthodontist, and an endodontist) come in various times a month so you dont have to go to multiple offices.. I dont have anything negative to say about this office..Ive been going here for awhile, and I only wish I would have found them sooner..

The lady was kind of blunt but its better tha her being a push over. Everything seemed legit. They seemed real honest and didnt say much about my previous work. She told me I should of seen the orthodontist first regrading some of the things I originally came in for. They even put me on a payment plan. Even financed me for 2500 dollars of dental work that I can pay in 12 months. She explained to me why everything needed to be done and it makes sense. I walked in their wearing a shirt and jeans with a scruffy beard and I was treated with a lot of respect. They even have a orthodotist which is awesome Im looking forward to my new smile and if you are too the money is not a issue.

They deserve a negative star. I had the same experience with Dr. Mathew Hoyle refusing to do a regular cleaning, even though they are my DHMO and my insurance premiums cover the exam and cleaning. I am being told that it is not the recommended care and that I need to pay the extra money to have the periodontist clean my teeth and its that cleaning or nothing. My company is reporting them to the insurance provider. I wasted 3 hours to be refused a BASIC service that was covered under my insurance plan. It was a horrible experience. From the rude receptionist, to the xray tech who had a cold and runny nose and sneezing all over the place, to a rude and entitled dentist.
