I brought my young daughter in for some fillings and she was only 4 years old, she wouldnt cooperate so they said maybe this expensive medicine would knock her out and make her not remember, I paid about $450 for it. Well it did not work, its was about as strong as Benadryl, worse was that the doctor thought it would be a good idea to continue even though she was flailing around and that we could hold her down. My husband and I full force held her down. A dental hygienist helped as well. Me, my husband and my daughter walked out that day in shock and traumatized. After that I could not get her into a dentists chair for 5 years, Im finally writing about this because its been such a long road and its something that I needed to process before I added a review like this on a website like google. After our appointment she was showing PTSD signs whenever I put her in her car seat because we had held her down and she didnt want the seat belt coming across her. I had to put her to sleep medically in a hospital setting after that to get her teeth done for she would not cooperate because of what we had done. I dont understand why a trained doctor would recommend parents hold down their child to get a procedure done, when she with all of her might was against it. I never knew how strong a 4 year old was, I had all of my weight on her, and she was still moving! If I could do it over Id never and to say the least this was the worst medical experience of my daughters life and mine as a mother. Please never do this sort of thing as it only backfires and all good dentists will tell you that, you only create more problems in the child in the future, it took till she was 10 to get her in a seat without terror so I had to put off work for too long. I took my daughter back at 9 to this office to see if she remembered still because I wanted to know if her terror was really from that experience, she didnt only remember it she was very mad and I understand she was violated. This is the time in life you wish you could redo.

As always, our visit with Dr Jamie and team was EXCELLENT today. All three of my children have gone there for years and love going to the dentist. From the nice, clean lobby where there are many toys to play with, to the exam table, where they can each watch a movie while getting their teeth cleaned... the whole visit is always very pleasant and Dr Jamie and her team do such a great job of explaining to the kids what they are doing, what they need to work on to keep those sugar bugs away and what they can look forward to in the prize box. My oldest (13) has ADD and an autism spectrum disorder and they do such a great job making him feel comfortable and engaging him in the process during our visits. My youngest, who is now almost 7 was referred to this office when she was only 3 or 4 because she was so scared at the dentist, we couldnt get her teeth examined. On her first visit here they did such a great job making her feel comfortable that I transferred all of my kids to this office and they have gone here ever since. They make it easy to schedule an after school appointment so the kids dont have to miss school. They end each visit by taking a picture for their cavity free wall ( which they give me back on the next visit when their new pic is taken) and then give each one a gift certificate for a free meal at Applebees.... the kids really feel rewarded for not having cavities! My kids look forward to their dental visits every 6 months.

My family and I live in San Rafael, but we drive 45 minutes to have Dr. Sahouria and her team be our childrens dental care providers. Even when our dental insurance changed to one we cant use there, we opted to not find a new dentist, and stay with her practice and private pay. The office is professional, friendly, state of the art, clean and well, great. The kids are so at ease there...they have fun things to play in the waiting room, the kids can pick a DVD to play on the screen above the dental chair while their teeth are worked on and they take pictures of the kids and give them a free kids meal choice from several local restaurant options if they are "sugar bug" free. They have very high tech xray machines that many other dentists dont seem to have. They also offer a carnival for patients each fall as a courtesy and a thank you. The dentist and team are so friendly and make you a partner in your childs dental care and give their recommendation, but you make the final, informed decision. We liked their office so much when they opened an adult side we all started going there too. I know i mentioned a lot of cool "stuff" they offer, but it really boils down to they are a really high quality dental office that we trust.

Ok...I have been taking my kids here for about 4.5 years. My first experience was when my daughter chipped her tooth and didnt know if we needed to do anything about it, she was only 18 months. Dr. Jamie is great and so are her staff. My daughter had a couple cavities due to gummy vitamins that I was giving her at night and they quickly filled them and did everything they could to comfort her. My sons first visit was a nightmare because he didnt want to be cooperative at all, but they were very patient with him and did everything they could without rushing him. I always feel that we are the only patients when we are there because she fives us all of her attention. They wanted to do x-rays every 6 months, and I told them I was concerned with that and didnt want to and they were totally fine with that and didnt pressure me at all. In order for their patients to remember their check ups, they email, call, and text. I am so busy that I truly appreciate this service. I am referred many people to Dr. Jamie and I hope you will go too!

We recently took our boys for their first visit with Dr. Sahouria. They were a little nervous about the visit, but were completely at ease once they were greeted by the friendly staff. They enjoyed playing in the waiting room and each got to pick out a movie to watch during their exam. Dr. Sahouria performed the cleaning and exam on our 3 year old while our older boy had his teeth cleaned in the chair right beside him. Dr. Sahouria explained everything she was doing beforehand so they knew what to expect the whole time. She was so friendly and really has a knack for talking to kids. Both boys did great and actually enjoyed their visit. My littlest one likes to pretend he is sitting in a dentist chair when I brush his teeth now. I am pretty sure they will look forward to going back for their 6-month checkup! My husband and I also thought Dr. Sahouria and the staff were great, and we are so happy we found such a wonderful dental office for our boys.
