DONT TAKE YOUR PET TO THIS TERRIBLE PLACE! THE ONLY REASON I GAVE THEM ONE STAR WAS BECAUSE THE SITE WOULDNT POST WITHOUT IT. Took my very ill Silky Terrier there in 2014. They put her in ICU and stopped checking on her at 9pm. They ran unnecessary tests, charged me thousands of dollars and didnt notice when she died. Alone. They called me at 11:40pm July 4th asking if I wanted them to do CPR as she wasnt breathing. She was dead before then. They called back at 11:50pm saying she had died. I was there in 10 minutes. They brought her to me. She was stiff. She had been dead for hours. How stupid do you think they thought me? The excuse was that she was so ill she stiffened up in 10 minutes. I refused to pay for the monitoring they were charging me for. Their excuse for the unnecessary tests was that my vet had not sent over her test results. Yes, they did. This "hospital" is so unprofessional they couldnt find her paperwork in 8 hours! I am still paying the exorbitant amount they charged me. They lied, they didnt watch her, they didnt check on her, they are unprofessional and greedy. DONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID! FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE TO TAKE YOUR PET!

I brought my dog here for cancer treatment (soft tissue sarcoma). I had previously had him seen at Veterinary Medical Specialists in Campbell. Both Dr. Stone and the vet at VMS came to the same diagnosis and treatment plan, and the estimates I received were nearly identical. I ended up going with SCZ vet hospital, because I had a better interaction with the vets there, they were very responsive to my questions and calls, and seemed to have a bit more knowledge on the pros and cons of all available treatments. Dr. Miller performed the surgery, and it went very well. When I picked up my dog, he was acting like nothing had happened! The incision sites looked great, and I have had no problems with drainage or infection. They provided great aftercare instructions and automatically gave me pain meds and antibiotics (unlike other places Ive taken him to). I was very weary of putting my dog through surgery after a bad experience at another vet, but I couldnt be more pleased with my decision to take my dog here.

I had previously published a rave review of this place, based on my love of Dr. Stone and how he cured my dog of cancer. Well, its time to amend that review based on the rest of the staff. The women who work the front desk are evil. They would rather burn in Hell than take a minute of their precious time to find an answer for you. It doesnt matter if you just dropped $4,000 at their clinic the day before; they will insist that you need to come back for another $200 office visit if you want a simple answer about your dogs medication. It took my screaming about how I was going to report them to the Calif. Veterinary Board for the receptionist to get off her a$$ to find the answer to my very _simple_ question. If I werent so dependent on Dr. Stone, I would never come to this place again. Ever.

Do not bring your pet here. I highly recommend ANY other veterinarys, the staff was highly unprofessional, one gets treated as a nuisance. They were not concerned about my dogs well-being but rather focused more on trying to sell me their highest priced medication treatment. I was given an estimate at about $700 (so I paid the 700) and claimed to not go beyond a $950 mark. I go back and they charge me $1300, I was supposed to receive a call to reduce that number due to the fact that my Pitbull puppy passed away two hours after I had left him for an overnight period. NEVER received word from them. Consider it twice before taking your beloved pet to this "Veterinary".

I took my cat to see the doctors twice regarding her back leg. The second time, after spending over $500 on tests, I was told she need to see the orthopedic surgeon there. Unfortunately, I could not afford it so I did not take her. Her limping went away for a year and then came back. I called to ask if they could give me her diagnosis from our last visit and the staff told me to bring her back in to see the same doctor that did not know what was wrong with her in the first place! Why would I bring her back? To waste more money on them! Needless to say, I requested her medical records and never received them.

Caring staff and knowledgeable doctors appear to be the norm here. Dr. Jay Stone has been caring for our sick pet for the last three months. In discussing doctors the words medical practice are sometimes heard; Dr. Stone and his staff dont practice; they are doing. He has given my pet a better quality of life while at the same time extending it in a humane manner. I only wished that we had found this hospital when my last pet was passing away. Again, thank you very much to Dr. Stone and all the wonderful animal lovers at Santa Cruz Veterinary Hospital.

Dr. Brian Hardy is THE BEST. A MILLION GOLD STARS FOR HIM. He took such great care of my baby dog SADIE. Thank you to you and your wonderful, efficient staff. The CT scan was perfect showing the dental problem in great detail. Three great place: Emergency vet care in Monterey area, Santa Cruz Vet in the Santa Cruz area and Animal Dental Clinic in San Carlos. Believe me, if you really love your pet . . . .THESE ARE YOUR BEST CHOICES. It is about your beloved pet, not the money. Margaret Camara

My family has spent thousands and thousands of dollars here. My cat has worms and I try to get her help today and they told me that I have to make an emergency appointment for $109 dollars, just for the appointment. I dont have that kind of money, and my dad isnt paying my cats vet bills anymore. So I called up Ocean Animal Clinic and Im actually getting my cat a walk in appointment there today for only $25. I will be taking all three of my pets there from now on, and will NEVER RETURN TO THIS VET.

This place needs a new business plan. I will not return. Waited for appointment time patiently. Finally asked why my pet was not being seen and how long. Staff mentioned something about emergencies. This information should be revealed at arrival rather than ignoring client arriving on time. Cost was insane. Over-priced. Numerous tests ordered. Vet medical professional not able to stick her neck out and make a definitive diagnosis. Left without any feeling of competence for the facility.

Thank you so very much to Dr. Miller and the entire staff at Santa Cruz Veterinary Hospital involved with Chesters hip replacement. Chesters new hip is amazing! He is a new dog! He used to have difficulty just getting up. Now he moves, sits, and walks better than ever. Theres spring in his step and he has a new lease on life, really. We all are happier than ever with the results. If a patient ever has any doubts about if its worth it... it is. What a difference!

We have entrusted our pets into the competent care of Dr. Cholden for at least 15 years. First at All Pets and now at SCVH. Last week my husband and I had to say goodbye to our beloved Jack Russell Terrier, Luna. I can only hope that when its my time to go, I can leave under such peaceful, kind, and grace-filled circumstances. One million thanks to Dr. C and his staff. -Kim & Wade Wingo
