When I called the number for a new patient appointment at Western Dental, the man was super nice. Then when I arrived at the actual office the woman at the front desk wasnt very friendly but she wasnt exactly rude either. When I had my X-rays taken the man was kind of friendly and when he was done he said "Okay, youre finished" and then took off leaving me to find my own way back to the waiting room to wait for an exam room to open. (Mind you, this was my first time there so I wasnt familiar with the layout.) Then after waiting a bit and then finally getting to an exam room, the lady had me sit down and wait for the dentist while another dentist was looking at another patients chart on the computer. (Big HIPAA violation by the by.) Then the dentist sits down and doesnt even introduce himself (he did ask me how I was doing - big whoop) and then just begins telling the nurse (Im assuming thats who the lady was, she didnt introduce herself either, I had to read her name off her nametag) what was wrong in medical terms I couldnt decipher (apparently our teeth have numbers assigned to them) and when he was done "explaining" (I use the word VERY loosely) what I had to have done he then stood up and walked off, not even asking if I had any questions (which I did). I had to turn to the nurse or the nurse practioner or whatever she was and she actually seemed a little put off at my questions. (Believe it or not she was actually the nicest person I had encountered thus rar). Then she scheduled me for another appointment and I left. Deciding to give them another chance and chalk up my experience to them having a bad day or something I went back for my second appointment the next week. The same lady was at the front desk and, again, she wasnt friendly but wasnt exactly rude either. I arrived 5 minutes early for my appointment and waited 20 minutes for my name to be called which wasnt a big deal. I was showed to an exam room by the lady with the unknown job title from last time and told that the doctor would be right with me. Twenty minutes later Dr. Tran made an appearance (the lady had told me his name) and shoved two q-tips with some kind of jelly on it into my mouth and said he would be right back. I figured out it was some kind of numbing agent when the right side of my mouth began to tingle. FOURTY MINUTES later he came back and began to work on me. He never explained what he was doing, asked me maybe twice if I was in any pain (which I didnt dare admit to him lest I be left sitting another fourty minutes) and then when he was done he stood up and left. I had to ask the lady if we were all done and she said "yes". Then I noticed that there was something still stuck on my teeth and asked her what it was. She chuckled and said the doctor had left some kind of equipment there and took it out. I made another appointment (I was under the impression that this office was the only one who took my insurance) and walked to my car, fuming. The people at the Yuba City Western Dental (at least the handful I came in contact with) are rude, rude, rude! They show no compassion or human warmth towards their patients (Im actually convinced one of the nurses was, in fact, an honest-to-goodness robot) and are only interested in milking them for whatever money they can squeeze out of them or their insurance. I was actually going to give up and go to a dentist where my insurance wasnt accepted and pay out of pocket because of how nice they were and how rudely I was treated at Western Dental. Fortunately, my mother gave me the number of a place in town who just recently began accepting my insurance so I will be going there. Western Dental has definitely lost a patient in me. (Although they could probably care less.) This review will probably do nothing to stop the bad service at Western Dental, but hopefully it will warn other people who expect to be treated halfway decent to stay away.

If you want a qualified caring dental provider then you should call and set up a appointment. I have been a patient at the Yuba City office for over a year now. I have had everything from fillings to a immediate upper denture and I am extremely satisfied with ALL of the customer service, dental procedures and aftercare I have received! When reading the reviews on this page it really makes me wonder what type of people are actually writing them? They all seem to complain about waiting to be seen...well yes you might have a wait but they do provide you with cable TV, WiFi and plenty of current magazines. Emergencies come up, if I have to wait a little bit longer to receive the care I have received that is fine with me! DR. KAUR in particular is amazing! She is so patient and gentle, the dental assistant BRITTANY will answer any questions you have and trust me I have had more than my share. The office staff is very friendly and extremely polite especially SAM. They have stayed past their shift to complete procedures and make sure I understood my aftercare instructions. Even when dealing with uneducated idiots I have not heard or seen what is described in some of the reviews, actually quite the opposite! If i could give 0 stars i would. This place is a joke. Ive been trying to get my wisdom teeth out for months now and theyve been giving me the run around. I only went here because they take my insurance for the surgery. Ive had 3 appointments here so far and it seems like each time i show up they have no clue why im there. (Also each appointment no one introduced themselves and it takes way too long and you sit in the room wondering if they forgot about you.) At my last appointment to talk about my wisdom teeth they turned it into a routine checkup and tried to tell me i have 5 cavities and that i dont floss every day. I go to my regular dentist every six months, brush and floss my teeth every day, and my regular dentist has never told me i have cavities or any issues with my teeth besides my wisdom teeth being impacted! Plus i was not there for that type of appointment and the dentist seemed very uninterested in what i had to say after i told him i was only there to talk about wisdom teeth extraction...Today, i show up for my appointment with the surgeon that ive been waiting for 2 weeks now... only for them to tell me he was just now looking at my xrays and that he couldnt perform the surgery!!! Youd think theyd be more organized and on top of things...ive already had an infection from one of them being partially in the gum still and i need them out. Now i have to go through this whole process again somewhere else. The staff doesnt even seem like they communicate with each other. Just avoid this place completely if you can...
