I would expect this type of behavior from a shady used car salesman. I was at Towncare Dental of Naples two months ago for a yearly routine x-ray and cleaning that my insurance would cover. Upon my initial interaction with the staff an assistant approached me and was extremely persistent about me committing to a series of more expensive dental procedures that my insurance plan would not cover and that I would have to do a large deductible payment of over $1,000. I indicated that I wanted a second opinion and the assistant became agitated and became extremely persistent and began to push the issue more, making me feel uncomfortable. I perceived his insistence as unprofessional and desperate. On the second occasion they tricked me into signing a waver to receive an “advanced cleaning” that my insurance did not cover. I had clearly stated that I wanted to get the cleaning that my insurance would cover and they scheduled me for the regular cleaning. Once there they gave me some papers to sigh while the doctor was speaking to me and did not allow me enough time to read them. Granted, I should read what I sign but I feel that they did this in a very sneaky way. They did not explain to me what I was signing either. They only mentioned that they were payment details. I have been a loyal costumer for 4 years, and they know that my wife and I always request the standard cleaning. I called them to find out what had happened believing that there was a misunderstanding and they were very insistent that I should have read the papers and disregarded the fact that I was so specific about what I needed even as I was going to begin the procedure. They also said that the doctor had refused to do the standard insurance covered cleaning and that I needed the “advanced cleaning”. The doctor did not say a word to me about it while I was having the procedure done. As for the work they performed I can say that it did not feel any different than the standard cleaning. The male office and billing manager that helped me did not make any efforts to rectify or even apologize for this situation. I told them that I was going to report this practice to my insurance company and he said “Go ahead, do it.” These shady practices will not go unnoticed, and they lost a loyal costumer and his wife for wanting to make an extra $60.

After being assigned to this dentist by my insurance company, and reading the rest of the reviews I felt that I was walking in an informed customer. Boy was I right! Keep in mind, that I have never had a cavity or any dental problems...so this was a routine checkup. The office staff is pleasant to deal with, but thats where the fun ended. As I was taking into the exam room, I immediately noted the unprofessional cap on the end of old plumbing sticking out of the wall. Painted to match the wall color, to try to hide it. I might have over looked that if the equipment had been in better repair. The equipment, including the xray machine, had paint flaking off, rust showing through and was in great disrepair. It was disconcerting to have the gentleman handling the equipment with the rust, then sticking the little xray things into my mouth. The gentleman who took the X-rays was clearly new at the job. I have had X-rays for years and never had the pain that this kid made me endure. As the little things were shoved into my mouth, I literally teared up in pain. In one case, I had to ask for some gauze as he caused the bottom of my mouth to bleed. Once he had finished, I sat for around 15 minutes with no idea as to what was happening. The dentist walked in, and politely introduced himself. He poked around in my mouth for about 45 - 60 seconds and pronounced my teeth as looking great. He left and in walked an assistant. "Good news, you dont have any cavities." Great, so lets get on with the cleaning. NOPE - they told me that I required a deep cleaning for $540!?! I immediately refused the treatment. As they discussed the procedure with me further, they pushed me hard to sign their paper. READ BEFORE YOU SIGN. Had I signed, I would have agreed to the fee even though I was refusing the treatment! I told them I wouldnt sign, and just wanted my basic cleaning. I was informed that they couldnt help me. Thats the point I had enough and walked right out.

Like a number of other reviewers I have not had a positive experience at this corporate dental office. I need a permanent bridge and a few months ago they quoted me a price. In Jan of this year I switched insurance companies and called to ask what the new cost would be with this company and was quoted approximately $1700 and was told that the new quote would be added to my file. The other day I went in for a cleaning and asked to receive a written copy of this quote and was handed one for $2900- when I challenged this number they denied ever giving me the lower cost even though the woman who I had originally spoken to remembered the conversation. This is dispite the fact that I had all of the codes for services, and they were listed in the brochure with prices that I had double checked to determine that the $1700 figure was accurate. Like other reviewers, I was told that regular cleanings were not appropriate and that more expensive deep cleanings should be performed every three months. In addition a crown that was recemented in by their dentist fell out it three weeks, and another dentist put it back in four months ago and it is still firmly in place. The policies of this office are dollar oriented and not patient oriented and I strongly suggest that you look elsewhere for a more professional practice.

Im amending this review, a little bit. The office manager Audrey got me in for my early AM cleaning this morning 07/18/2017. She contacted me to apologize for how I was spoken to during my last visit. Still not entirely sure they would be my first choice for a new dental office, but atleast they realized that their patients are the reason they are there. And theyre close to home. Watch out for extra services that are on your treatment plan they ask you to sign when they start your cleaning, etc. They had other things tacked onto it, apart from what I had gone in for. Make certain after the hygienist circles what you agree to, and crosses out what you declined you correct the total that youre agreeing to pay. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ If youre looking to establish with a new dental office, and want to get a cleaning asap, rather than later look elsewhere. Called for a cleaning appt in June, and couldnt get anything following my initial visit until Christmas. Really? I work, and need something early. Was told were a corporation, not a private practice. We schedule our cleanings 6 months out. My visit apart from the scheduling went ok. They seem nice enough. I should give a 2 star because of the scheduling.

1 star is still giving too much credit. Ive sat here on three separate occasions for my girlfriend to get cavities filled. In this time the dentist has simply drilled into her teeth, and left the filling to an assistant. The assistant tried to rush my girlfriend out of the chair with a freshly drill hole in her tooth unfilled. Upon filling this hole, the assistant basically fused that tooth to the tooth in front of it with a "temporary" filling. I have never once had to deal with anything as absurd as this. Immediately after that appointment, a tooth that she had never had issues with was hurting to the point she couldnt chew on that side of her mouth. Despite all of this, she still came back for another appointment where she had scheduled multiple cavities to be filled, but the dentist decided he was only going to do one of them; they didnt even know what side of her mouth they were scheduled to work on! The receptionists are nice, but thats about it. The dentist and assistant are extremely rude, and it seems like the assistant hates her job to the point she is unable to be friendly to patients. I would strongly advise staying away from here. Every time weve come here, weve been here roughly 3 hours for a 1 hour appointment.
