I see a dentist regularly (cleanings every four months). I have had 1 cavity in the past 20 years. I went to Front Street Family Dentistry for several years to see Dr. Nelson. When Dr. Nelson moved out of state a little over a year ago or so, he apparently sold his practice to Dr. Rodriguez and Dr. Negron. I was very happy with my dental hygienist Karen, and since I really only went to the dentist for cleanings I didnt feel the need to research finding a new dentist. On my first visit, it was recommended that I get seven (I think - definitely more than five) dental sealants placed. I go to a dentist and expect them to advise me on medically necessary treatments. The dental sealants were presented to me as a necessity, or I would get cavities in my teeth. I asked a few questions and said, "Yeah, if I need this, then of course I want to have it done." This was hundreds and hundreds of dollars. On my next visit, I was advised that it was necessary to remove my amalgum filling and have it replaced. I was confused by this, and told them that Dr. Nelson had said that his policy was to let sleeping dogs lie, and not disrupt the filling. I was told the amalgum filling was no longer doing its job, and replacement was necessary. Although I was confused by this, I said "Of course, if this is what needs to be done, then I will have it replaced." On replacement of the filling, I was advised that I had minor, minor crowding in my teeth that would need invisalign braces. I would only have to wear the braces at the very most for six months, and the cost would be around $5,000. At this point I was totally confused and pressed on whether this was truly medically necessary. After asking point blank several times, Dr. Rodriguez finally responded "no". I almost canceled my final appointment, but wanted to go to say goodbye to Karen, my highly competent dental hygienist, and explain to her why I was leaving. I figured the visit would just be a cleaning and my only interaction would be with her. When I arrived, I was told that after working there for many years, Karen was no longer with the practice. Hmmmm. I figure Im there, Ill get my teeth cleaned and move on. I was told on this visit that one of my sealants had come loose and would need to be replaced free of charge. During the unsupervised replacement performed by the new hygienist, dental sealant was accidentally spilled on my face and into my mouth. I was really freaked out and asked for a cup to rinse my mouth out with water. When I got home, I researched whether this was dangerous (I cant imagine this was a health benefit). I hadnt had a chance to ask Dr. Rodriguez, as she never came to inspect the replaced dental sealant. She did have time to sit down prior to the replacement and once again council me on the $5,000 invisalign procedure. If I had read about dental sealants and researched this prior to agreeing to having them placed, I would not have done this. Dental sealants are apparently not at all common in adults. There is also apparently some questions about their use - when I got to the parts about studies on BPA release and whether bacteria and food particles may eventually become entrapped under the dental sealants, causing decay in the very teeth intended to be protected - I just had to stop reading. I am definitely switching dentists, I dont want to feel like I have to question what is being recommended to me, and that is exactly how I feel about this practice now. If someone were to ask me if I recommend this practice I would respond definitely NO.

My husband lost a crown while we were on a cruise. This hapened on a Thursday night and we werent scheduled to fly home until Sunday. After calling a couple dentists the morning we got off the ship, Front Street was able to fit him in. I really appreciate them getting him in, since it was painful for him without the crown. The staff was friendly, although the charges were quite a bit higher than our dentist in Michigan. I wouldve given them 5 stars just based on my relief that he was able to get a temporary crown for the remainder of our vacation. However, the crown fell off only 3 hours after we left! When the dentist put on the crown, she said she was using permanent glue and told him he had no restrictions on eating or drinking. Despite that, he had not done much of either of these (and certainly wasnt eating anything chewy, etc). This happened on Friday evening. I got ahold of a scheduler in their office on Sat morning but she said no one would come in to glue it on for him. We had to go to CVS and buy dental adhesive and my husband had to glue it on himself (which was very stressful for him, since he doesnt do well with teeth issues). This was short-term adhesive so he had to re-do this a couple times before we were able to get home and back to our regular dentist. Our dentist said the crown should not have come off after only 3 hours. I called Front Street and asked for a partial refund and they refused. I understand things like this can happen. But I think the dentist shouldve been willing to come in on a Saturday to re-glue or have given me a partial refund of the $500+ we paid to get this "fixed".

I went to Front Street Dentistry and saw Ivan Negron. It was the first visit and, since I was a Celebration resident, the location was convenient for me. After a lengthy visit, mainly with the dental hygenist and X-Rays, they recommended a couple thousand dollars of work. I was quite surprised, since I have regularly been going to dental visits and have not had issues so far. I had a gut feeling that they were not being honest with me. I went on-line and checked some of the charges on the dental estimate. One of the procedures that was listed multiple times was for Cutterage, which I read was not recommended as effective by the ADA and basically used as a unnecessary upcharge by dentists. I decided to get a second opinion by another dentist, which told me that all those procedures (i.e. tooth removal, scalings, medications, etc) were unnecessary. This confirmed by gut feeling that this is not a honest man and more interested in performing unnecessary procedures for monetary reasons. I happened to be talking with my neighbors this week and he told me that he had the same experience, though the recommended work was over $15K ! He unfortunately did lose some money to Ivan Negron, but has since found a honest and quality dentist who is taking care of him. Seems like Negron is building a reputation for himself here in Celebration. Needless to say, I will not be returning and will advise anyone I know about this situation.

After I read a few unfavorable reviews, I have to admit I was a bit cautious about going to this office. I have to say that I was more than pleasantly surprised. The office is very nice and the people are even nicer! I brought my son in as a guinea pig to watch him get his exam and cleaning and see how everything went. It went great. His hygienist was sweet and funny and made us feel very comfortable. In fact, everyone was so friendly and accommodating, there was no pressure to get anything done that I didnt want, or couldnt afford, and I left there actually looking forward to my visit, which was about a week later. Again, they were super nice there and really seem to enjoy their jobs. My hygienist, Sam was so awesome, she played great music and made sure I was comfortable and I felt like I made a friend who cleans my teeth. Dr. Negron was very nice and really seems to care. So all I can say is, after my first experience, I am looking forward to having these folks take care of me and my son (and my husband if I can drag him in) for a long time to come!
