I just hung up the phone with Dr. Hudec. While his office manager was very understanding of a situation, Dr. Hudec is very defensive, set in his ways, and unwilling to budge on important customer issues. He conducted himself poorly in a phone conversation having to do with his staffs customer service. The issue: My six year old daughter received an amalgam filling while at the office. This was our first filling at Hudec Dental and I did not know that they only do Amalgam fillings on children unless otherwise asked. The choice is NOT given to parents. Had I realized this, I would have chosen a resin composite filling. Our previous dental office had a higher standard. I expected the same would be true for just about any dentist office these days. I was dumbfounded when I realized their "standard" is to use below standard materials. Dr. Hudec seems to take personal offense to the studies and recommendations of reputable institutions out there such as the FDA. FDA recommends that MERCURY amalgam fillings not be used on children. From the FDA website, "Dental amalgams contain mercury, which may have neurotoxic effects on the nervous systems of developing children and fetuses. When amalgam fillings are placed in teeth or removed from teeth, they release mercury vapor. Mercury vapor is also released during chewing." With a health risk and having other options, why would any dental office opt to NOT give patients a choice? Dr. Hudecs answer is that Amalgam is absolutely safe and resented my implication that they are a substandard practice. He said it, not me! I sure do think they are a more than substandard practice, but it has everything to do with their methodology and treatment of patients/customers. I admit that amalgam is still widely used. However, my argument is that a treatment choice should be discussed with patients so that an informed decision can be made. Please DO NOT go to any of the Hudec Dental offices. You will be disappointed with long wait times (yes, I waited approximately 1.5 hrs before being seen and then turned away), substandard service, substandard offices, and substandard care as outlined by the owner of the practice himself. Dr. Hudec spoke with me for 15 mins and let me know the conversation had gone on long enough. Simply because I wanted my daughters filling replaced. Reasons not to go to Hudec Dental: 1. Offices are old and outdated 2. Long wait times 3. Youll be herded like sheep 4. Poor customer service standards 5. Poor patient care standards 6. From the top down, their methodology is outdated 7. Their Better Business Bureau rating is D-

I hadnt been to the dentist in almost a decade so I was expecting things to not go so well. The first appointment, I had three fillings and a crown. Crown was done by a Mrs. Tran(asian woman) and filings by a white russian woman(moderate accent) and it went perfectly, great job. Second time, I need a crown and a few more filings on the other side, Dr. Tran does some drilling and puts in the crown then steps out. A plain-looking white american woman comes in, and she was obviously in a bad mood for some reason for the first half of it, but shes clearly rushing, very rough and I could tell she was doing a horrible job. They redrilled the crown and replaced it(the one they just put in 15 minutes before) and did the fillings(she did it without an assistant). It felt rough and jagged all over the place and I was flossing that night and a filling pops out. Also, the receptionists are CLUELESS. I walk out every time and they have no idea if I need another appointment or what medications Ive bee prescribed, and they clearly do not care. I have to call them today and ask for the prescriptions that the dentist said I needed while I was having my teeth drilled, oops it slipped my mind, guess Im the one that is supposed to remember that stuff.... every time. Too much estrogen in that place... (and Im trying to call them to get the prescription, lines been busy for almost an hour..)

If I could give this place negative stars, I would. I went to Hudec Dental 4 years ago and am still paying for it, and I dont mean in the monetary sense. I went in for a routine cleaning and was told that I had 8 cavities. I knew I had at least one because a previous dentist (who didnt accept my insurance) had pointed it out, but 8?? Surely my previous dentist would have noticed that. Well, according to Hudecs staff they have "advanced" X-rays that can see cavities that other dentists miss. This should have been my first red flag. Well, I stupidly let them fill 5 of the 8 "cavities." It was one of the most painful dental experiences of my life, if not the most painful. They cranked my jaw open and went to town. The lady filling my teeth was INCREDIBLY rough. Afterward three of my top molars really hurt, especially when I bit down. This pain never went away. Finally, almost a year later, I went to a dentist after I moved to Texas for graduate school. He said that I likely had micro-fractures from the botched fillings. So, I got two of the teeth crowned. I even got one of the teeth root canaled. They STILL hurt. Im so desperate to get my teeth back to feeling the way they did before Hudec, which was painless, but I dont know what else to do. There are no words for how much I hate this place.

Do NOT go to the dentist here. My family and I are new to the area and I went to the Strongsville office for a routine cleaning. I spent an hour listening to a sales pitch for a procedure that my previous dentist never even suggested and then was told I need an antibiotic that happened to be advertised all over their walls (red flag to me!). After I declined their sales pitch the dentist spent about 20 seconds looking at my mouth and the hygienist spent less than ten minutes cleaning my teeth. The icing on the cake was the call I received today asking why I wouldnt be coming back to the office. I cited the sales pitch. The lady on the other end of the phone made it sound like I was being "dumb" and immediately got defensive (another red flag). I told her the bottom line is Hudec Dental is not the dentist for me... and she followed up with saying "Thanks for not even giving me a chance!" and hanging up on me. As a whole this is absolutely the worst experience I have ever had at a dentist office... They are pushy and unprofessional. Might I also add this was all after the gut feeling I had that this place was not "nice" when I first made the appointment. When I made the appointment the lady asking me how she could make me smile today was more snippy and snotty than welcoming and nice.

My family and I like Dr. Duchon and the staff at Hudec Dental a lot. They are always willing to assist. I especially appreciate the reminder calls snd /or texts and the prepared notes for school they always give us. Dr. Duchon has a wonderful demeanor with kids, and always accommodates my two children at the same time. He is really great with children! He takes time to explain procedures, which I truly appreciate. And you can tell by observing that his staff enjoys working for him. We will say that the waiting room is crowded, and sometimes a long wait, but thats just a testament to the fact that there are so many others who also come for their orthodontics. We never mind the wait, and enjoy chatting with staff. We cant wait to see the kids smiles after the work is complete! Personally, Im glad I found Dr Duchon. It was tough finding an affordable ortho that we all liked. My childrens teeth are very important, so I wanted the best, especially with the complex bites they have.
