I will start off by specifying that I have never seen Dr. Bauer, so this has nothing to do with her as a physician. I m frustrated because Ive been diagnosed with hypothyroidism/Hashimotos in the past and over the years, since I was feeling better, I got off medication. I now feel I need someone local (the last great endocrinologist who treated me is in Houston), and the requirements for me to be a patient are to already come with lab work from another doctor/primary care physician. What is the point in making an appointment with a specialist then? Endocrinology is a very specialized practice and I dont trust a primary care physician to know exactly what lab tests to order. THATS why Im looking for a specialist. It makes absolutely no sense. I want to see a specialist who is meticulous in having control over which tests are ordered and monitor everything themselves. Thats the whole point. Otherwise I might as well get treated by my primary care physician. In short, this tells me a lot about this doctor and it doesnt seem shed be that thorough to begin with, or theyre trying to eliminate some work for themselves, possibly related to insurance issues. Who knows. Not impressed.

For Marcella Cardinal and the others out there, just so you are aware. Dr. Bauer and her staff are out of this world. Dr. Bauer will take as much time with you as you want and explain everything. For Marcella they are most likely wanting to see your prior lab works in order to see what they show to better discuss your options and treatments. They most likely will order additional labs once they talk to you. Depending on types of Insurance people have Specialty doctors will be required for a referral from a PCP. I have been seeing Dr Bauer for over 15 years now and travel 2 1/2 hours each way every three months to see her (would not change a thing). You will not find any better doctor than her out there. Need to give her a chance and you will be glad. As for the others on the time issue, time will vary especially if either of them are doing what they should be doing and working with the patient. If you go into an office and your are out quickly then I would question the attention your condition is receiving and the care you are getting. As the old saying goes Patients is a virtue. Br Bauer and Dr. Bourne Keep up the AWESOME work .

Dr. Bauer is a wonderful doctor. I have nothing, but the up most respect for her. I also love her staff! Her nurse is absolutely wonderful and is always available to help me when I have questions; The "treating patients like cattle" comments from the other reviewers is quite questionable. Either you didnt want to pay for your visit or expected the billing office to just bill the insurance. You wouldnt go to a grocery store and ask them to bill your groceries would you? Why would any of you think its acceptable anywhere else? Anyways, I would recommend Dr. Bauer because she has a lot of integrity and doesnt jump the bullet when hard questions are asked. She is a one of a kind specialist who does care about her patients.

I changed endocrinologists to Dr. Bauer when my former endocrinologist retired. The practice is in a nice environment, and the staff are professional and efficient. Dr. Bauer is very empathetic and positive. I find that she takes time to listen and works with you as a partner in determining your treatment options.

The Office treats patients strictly like a number. There are charges for everything, $5 dollars for a print out of lab order or an email. Office is non responsive to refill orders or requests for diabetic supplies.
