I almost never write reviews BUT...Familia Dental exceeded my expectations on all levels and great work deserves to be recognized. [Familia Dental on 19th street] First off, my dentist took the time to explain every aspect of my root canal procedure before picking up a tool. She was extremely pleasant to be around and spoke openly about her personal determination to make this as painless a procedure as possible. Im not kidding or exaggerating when I say my pain level never exceeded a 3 (which i would compare to "an uncomfortable cramp"). She took her time when administering the anesthesia so there were no sharp pains AT ALL! The dentist explained each step to me as she went through the procedure and displayed the up most professionalism throughout. Secondly, with my first root canal at a different office (NOT FAMILIA DENTAL) my wife and I paid an arm and a leg ( I believe over 2000 dollars WITH INSURANCE!) With Familia Dental I am gonna be out the door for under 500 dollars! WINNING! Additionally they do offer a payment plan if needed. LASTLY, staff all around made an effort to show their appreciation for visiting their office. Everyone smiled and made an effort to make me feel welcome at all times. Thats a culture thats hard to find in a lot of dental offices. I dont want to feel like a number or an inanimate object and we all know what that feels like. While I had many options to choose from around the Lubbock area for dental work I can honestly say that Familia Dental has won me over for my future needs. They display a genuine attention to patient needs and concerns, exceptional quality of care, excellent professionalism and workmanship, and reasonable pricing and payment options. Thanks again Familia Dental.

Worst place ever, worst experience ever. They deserve no star, it is the worst place with worst people working there. The receptionist is extremely rude, disrespectful and she does not know how to talk to other humans, all she asked about insurance even though we have insurance and she was reluctant to help. My wife had severe pain in her tooth. They only took xrays and asked her if she needs cleaning and without doing anything else sent her back stating that these are ure teartment options think about it and get back. Seems like they just wanted to bill first visit so person can get back to bill second. When I called to inquire again the same disrespectful way they talk., I am a physician myself and was trying to talk to the dentist who treated my wife and left messages for her and she had no courtesy to return phone call of a fellow physician. Later we called again asking for my wife xrays so we can go to another dentist and even know the law states that all medical records are patients property they did not send us those. I also spoke to practice manager who was also very disrespectful and unwilling to send our xrays was telling me about her own created strange rules, later I gave fax number to her so that she can send us any forms she needs us to fill to get those and still nothing. They are making us go through all this trouble rather helping my wife who is in severe pain and with a two year old son. They have no concern for a family in trouble and that also of a fellow physician. I think of it as my duty to share my story about our very painful and horrible experience at this practice. I officially plan to complain as well, please be careful. My worst experience ever.

The front office staff has to be one of the worst. Communication between financial aspect and appointments have been the worst and I find myself asking why Ive continued going here for services. Ive had to call every single time because they do not follow up with what they say they will do. Had braces put on my child in early June and was told that day a contract would be ready the next day. Never received a contract or a phone call until I remembered today to finally check with them. Today they tell me a totally different set of #s after the fact. Had I had the new #s in hand before they put braces, I certainly wouldve waited. The #s given to me in a treatment plan in May and today differ drastically and Im not quite sure whose mistake this was, but it sure puts a huge dent in my budget now. My payments are doubled what I was planning for even with putting $950 down - thanks alot for nothing Familia Dental and Im pretty sure this will be the last straw with your office. After my childs braces are off, you can be sure Im probably never returning there. I am not on any government assistance and when you plan on budgeting for a big expense such as this and the #s completely change and my payments double, thats just not good customer service at all. Ive had problems with them even with appointments not being put in even when I have a written appointment card and just plain lousy communication. The only good experience Ive had are the dental assistants when weve had anything done there, the front staff is almost completely useless except for sitting up front talking about their personal lives or being on their cell phones.

I called in for apt to clean my teeth and they barely clean my teeth. And barely polish too. I look of what they charge my Medicaid. They over charge them. I guess they knew what the max money from your Medicaid that it can covered you. They over price your insurance vs a walk in ask for price to clean your teeth. They always x-ray me every time I go in for a teeth clean. Talk about getting some radiation poisoning. They dont need to have x ray every time for a teeth clean. Then one day they said I need a filling I was like what. They try to over charge me and my Medicaid and try to get me to pay the other half of the charge. I went no I am not doing this. I guess it because I am white. How racist. I grew up with dentist all my life with my mom and some dcotors. I ask a guy I knew from Dental Covenant Community Care by El Chico Cafe to take a look at my teeth and to clean them they were awesome people. They told me I dont need a filling your teeth is fine. I knew Familia was faking out. I ask what the price was vs Dental Covenant Community Care and it was nearly half of the price they charge my Medicaid. And I didnt have to pay for a filling if I needed one. I hated Familia Dental you have to wait for like 30 to 45 or an hour in office after you told them your appointment. Dont go here. Terrible!

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!! THIS PLACE IS AWFUL! I had to wait an hour and a half before I was seen for my 4pm appointment. They took xrays and were gentle and nice about it. The dentist came in and looked at my mouth, determined I had 3 cavities, then proceeded to clean my teeth. She used what I think is a water pik (not sure if thats the right term) it took her all of 5 minutes to "clean" my teeth with it (which hadnt been done in 6 years), I ended up with my face completely soaked. Not to mention she rolled her eyes at me when I was trying to tell her about what my previous dentist told me about my teeth. They asked if I wanted my fillings done right then, thank goodness I said no!!! I wasnt comfortable with the way they hurried and rushed through my examination and I dont think she was listening to me. I made an appointment with a different dentist office. They determined I ONLY HAD 2 CAVITIES not 3!!! The 3rd one was a tea stain!! And they did a real cleaning not just a quick wash. The Familia Dental dentist was going to drill into a perfectly HEALTHY TOOTH!!!! I am so glad I got a second opinion and will never go back to Familia Dental, my fiancé called it a quick lube dentist. DONT GO HERE. Yeah its cheap but really? I dont trust them.
