We have 5 children and are very picky about the medical / dental professionals that we use for them. We selected Dermody Pediatric Dentistry due to local reviews in various publications. They have offices in Port St. Lucie as well as Vero Beach (Dr. Chris who does Orthodontics as well). Their office is very clean and modern and the atmosphere is relaxing for young children. The administrative personnel that call you and greet you upon arrival are some of the nicest people, with the most pleasant dispositions that you will meet. The hygienists are also nice and very professional and explain what they are doing to the children to keep them at ease. They have nice waiting areas in the "cleaning" room and everything is out in the open. Drs. Dermody (Chris and his wife) are extremely professional with a great "chair-side" manner. They have kids of their own, so they can relate to them very easily. My daughter who was 6 had a cavity (small) and they recommended filling it, but went with my decision to wait and see w/out looking down on it. On the next visit, they remembered and told us it was good to just keep an eye on it as she grew rather than pressuring a filling. My 17-year old just had braces removed by Dr. Chris a few months ago and the whole process was smooth and his smile looks great! We moved about an hour away and still drive the hour to take our kids there because we think it is a great place to take our children for care. Dental costs everywhere are high, but I wouldnt feel comfortable going to a discount dental group in a strip mall somewhere. We trust Dermody with our kids teeth.

In regards to the previous comment by Yyrd Carmen: It is unfortunate that you had a bad experience, as I have always had a good one. You neglected to say wether or not they had made you pay for the visit before telling you never to return. If you did not pay anything, it would make sense that they would say that. It seems that maybe some details were left out. Like, what kind of procedure did your child have done? When it comes to dental and medical services of any kind, you should always get an estimate so you are not surprised at the final bill. Shop around for quotes until you find something that fits your budget. Dental is never cheap when you are getting it done right. Also, consider that this is specifically a pediatric dentist and is set up to give your child a relaxed and welcoming experience. You are not rushed like the group dentist "mills" that get you in and out quickly and sometimes do a shoddy job. And even with dental insurance, I have found that the good dentists are usually not in the network, but at least you get a discount. All that being said... This is a great pediatric dentist. All three of my children, 7, 6, and 4, have gone here for 2 years. Yes, with my dental insurance I have to pay a premium, BUT I make the decision to go here because my kids have a non-stressful, fun experience every time.

We loved the staff here. We also loved the free under 3 program. The care from the staff is great. Unfortunately we will be switching to another dentist. This practice charges outrageous prices compared to others and will not budge at all on their charges. We got a bill 2 mos. after some dental work and paid it within a few days...then was sent a bill for interest! I had to call to get it taken off. Other practices offer discounts for people (like teachers). This was suggested to this office to keep some clients (a lot leave due to prices). This wasnt even considered. Unfortunately a lot of people I know would have stayed with this practice if they would match professional discounts like others do. Its too bad--the ladies that actually do most of the work with the children are awesome! The front office staff are great too! Its a shame they are losing out because the people in charge seem to be more interested in charging the most when in the end--they lose many clients due to this.

Dr. Dermody came highly recommended from my pediatrician. We wanted to get our toddler off on the right foot with his dental hygiene so we took him in for an toddler visit. This type of visit is just to get your child used to the dentists chair and familiar with the routine. I believe they offer it for children under the age of three and it is completely free. We had two of these visits and my son did amazing!! The dental hygienists and Dr. Dermody were so wonderful and patient with him. The office decor is full of fun distractions for the kids while you wait and they even let us hang out and continue playing after our appointment. My son just turned three and we have an appointment next week! Fingers crossed that he does as well on the "real" visit.

Dermody Dental & Staff are the best and there is no other pediatric Dentistry & Staff that is compared. Both my boys now 25 & 23 years old went to dermody in Vero when they were younger, and now their younger brother is going to Rachel in Port St. Lucie. Amazingly genuine staff, and the smiles are out of this world. I have never seen anyone unhappy at Dermody Dental. I guess this is why Rachel Dermody still looks younger and younger each visit. Thanks to all at Dermody Dental for making each visit a reason to continue our journey there! Love, RJ Williams III and Veronica Tillman

I chose to introduce my 2 1/2 year old to Dermody Pediatric Dentistry to begin her life-long dental healthcare management. I have always heard great things about Dr. Dermody and her team, and we recently got to experience that first hand as well! Dr. Dermody was pleasant and thorough and Ms. Esther was informative and sweet to Maci. Esther even went above and beyond by giving us a tour of the office, and she sent Maci a follow-up "note of praise and encouragement " along with stickers. Thank you Dr. Dermody and Team for Macis perfect first dental appointment!

Gave me a bill for $300. then found out i have no insurance. and raised the price to $1000. i kept questioning why can you charge $300 to insurance and then $1000 to somebody who cant afford insurance? so i asked to pay the same amount insurance company pay. they said there is nothing they can do cause i have no insurance. it was like talking to a wall.the lady finally said she will ask the doctor. the doctor told me never to return. i am never welcome back at his office! btw im not talking about $300 co-payment, $300 was the whole bill.

My 7 year old son loves going to Dermody. I have difficulty getting him to leave the office when his appointment is over and he asks every couple of weeks when hes going back. The staff is friendly & caring from the front desk to the dentists. They take the time to explain everything they are doing not only to the parent but also to the child. And they do it in a way that does not cause the child to be afraid. My son will be going to Dermody Dentistry until he is too old to be seen by a pediatric dentist.
