Today was my first visit to a dentist in about 12 years. I had purchased a voucher for an exam, cleaning, and x-rays through Living Social and seeing as my gums were receding and starting to become sensitive, I made an appointment to the closest dentist, Dr. Finnk. At about 9:00 p.m. I filled out the online for to schedule an appointment. At 9:09 I received a call from Marian, the managing director. "Wow, youre still at the office? Do you go home?" I replied, in amazement at their speedy response. She explained that while she was actually at home, she received my info and wanted to get me in as soon as possible because I was complaining of pain from my sensitive gums and she didnt want me to suffer. I was floored. I have been lucky in that in the one doctor visit Ive had in South Florida in the past year had been a pleasant experience. However, Ive dealt with countless other offices due to my mothers health; frustration, anger, unprofessionalism, and incredulity dont even begin to describe how bad its been. So far, Nob Hill Dental Center was SO good. Marian and I chatted for 10 minutes and I had an appointment the next morning. Another surprise after expecting to have to wait at least a couple of weeks due to the great reviews; I thought there would be no room for a new patient like me to come in on such short notice. I came in, met Marian and the rest of the girls, filled out my paperwork, and was quickly taken for my X-rays. No unnecessary long wait. Elizabeth took my x-rays and we chatted about the Heat. She was very polite and patient. Then Dr. Finklestein came in to do my exam. She was quite thorough and explained everything to me in a clear, concise manner; no medical jargon Id be unfamiliar with. After that, Marian came in and explained that the specific things recommended to me werent included in my voucher, but that they would work on me with pricing due to my lack of insurance. I assessed which things were needed right now and which ones I would have to wait for. Never once did I feel pressured to have to agree to everything. After making my decision, I went in for my debridement with Maria, who is great! She made me laugh, and really seemed to genuinely care about my teeth. Too often you feel dentists get into dentistry because its a stable high-paying job, but when you meet the ones that are truly just nerding out about teeth, its awesome. I personally feel better with them. The debridement took about a half hour, Maria gave me some brushing pointers because I was going to have extra sensitive gums for a while. Dr. Finklestein wrapped the plan up and I was ready to go after making the appointment for my actual cleaning in three weeks, which is when the sensitivity should subside. I cant tell you enough how glad I am that I came to this office. I know I cant let so long go without taking care of my teeth professionally and with this awesome team, I know I wont.

I woke up in excruciating pain on Tuesday, August 15. By 3pm I had learned that Nob Hill Dental Center was the provider assigned to me by my insurance plan, which I had not yet used. I called, described my situation, and they scheduled me for the next possible time when my child care duties would allow me to come in: 9AM this morning, the very next day. The paperwork phase was swift and easy, and by 11AM I walked out with a temporary crown over a perfectly executed root canal. I would have to be a professor or dentistry to make a sound technical evaluation of Dr. Kramers execution of the root canal, and I am not, but in my judgement based on 60 years of being a dental patient, she is at the very top of her game. I asked and was told shes a product of Southeastern Nova University, and in my experience that schools grads are uniformly excellent. No less important, and within my competence to judge, is Dr. Kramer as a practicioner. She is a superb practicioner. She is forthright, responsive to inquiries, stimulates confidence and washes away anxiety in the patient. I realized in the middle of the procedure that I was ....relaxed. I began to worry that Id fall asleep - during a root canal. It was that comfortable. I had a question a few hours after I got home, and called the practice. Dr. Kramer was in the middle of another procedure, but she called me the instant she got free, and answered my inquiry thoughtfully and completely. This is, without a doubt, the best experience Ive had of dentistry in my long life across several continents and many countries.

I hesitate to write a negative review, because the doctors were very nice. I came in because I had severe dental pain. The dentist couldnt find anything wrong and referred me to an endodontist. He refused to give me any antibiotics or anything for the pain, even when I called back later the same day to ask again after being instructed to by the endodontists office, as they couldnt see me until the next week. As a result, my face swelled up with infection over the weekend. I called the emergency number listed on the answering machine but nobody called me back until several weeks later. I ended up needing to seek emergency medical care, an expense that couldve been avoided if the doctor wouldve prescribed me antibiotics. I also did not have a good experience with the office of the endodontist I was referred to. Overall it was a very traumatic experience and I felt very vulnerable and helpless. The doctors were kind and respectful though, so I give two stars.

Nob Hill Dental is the only practice that I have encountered so far that truly strives to make your dental care a satisfactory and even pleasant experience. Everyone – doctors, hygienists and administrative staff are informative without being preachy; caring of your challenges and concerns and always, always professional. Their offices, while not large are clean, airy and comfortable without feeling cramped and they competently leverage the latest technology in digital imaging and onsite crown manufacture. I was particularly impressed that after my initial exam, I was presented with a complete, detailed treatment plan that clearly showed what was covered by my insurance and what my out of pocket would be for upcoming appointments. Nothing hidden, no surprise fees. I’m optimistic about the future of my teeth, now that I feel I have a family of people truly dedicated to their care. Needless to say, I would highly recommend Nob Hill Dental to anyone….

I would give them a thousand stars if I could. I had a bad experience at another local dentist and these guys and gals had me in the very next day for a second opinion/cleaning. The other dentist wouldnt release my X-rays for 7-10 days, so Nob Hill Dental did them for free! The other dentist told me that I had 7 cavities and needed over $1000 in work. Dr. Gilson at Nob Hill Dental informed me that I had no cavities and needed no extra work! Strange how 7 cavities just disappeared overnight. If you are looking for a dentists office that you can trust and that is full of personable, knowledgeable, and ridiculously good looking folks, look no farther. This office has seriously got it goin on, and I dont say that about many dental offices!
