A great eye exam experience – two thumbs up! The Eye Doctors is unique in its ability to do high-end ophthalmic imaging and diagnostics, so I got a detailed exam on my eye health in addition to the usual check on my refraction/prescription. The experience started with entering a very sleek modern facility and getting a warm upbeat welcoming at the front desk. In just a few minutes, the optical tech Kevin took me in to do the optical imaging on several high tech machines (no drops or puffs of air like the old days). He explained what each measurement did and how the doctor was going to use it to assess the health of my eyes. He handed me over to Mai, who assisted Dr. Teske, recording the exam findings and diagnosis while the Dr. stayed focused on me. The office is all-digital, so the images that Kevin took, were on the screen in the exam room for the Dr. to study. Both Kevin and the doctor talked to me about what I do and what my eyes are called to do for me – every person is unique. He explained what was going on medically with my eyes, the prognosis, and why I needed the prescription change. I then went to the optical glasses part of the store to talk about glasses for the new prescription. Kevin had just shifted from the medical side of the store to the optical side – the guy is amazing… he went from talking about laser imaging and ophthalmic details to helping me decide on the right glasses for my face. A freakin’ magician! With all the frames available in the store, he explained the styles that would be best on my face and why, then picked out some options for me to try on. I’m like his dad’s age, and yet he got me some great frames that are older-stylish and not like the usual old-fart frumpy ones. He spent over an hour with me getting the frames selected and ordered – I noticed the other customers getting the same focused attention in this part of the experience, whether a mother with kids or a younger millennial. The Eye Doctors of New Tampa is setting the 21st century standard for what an eye exam will be in the future.

I have been coming here for years and they have continued to disappoint over the last two years. Lets start with the fact that they use "new" technology which is great, but it means its not covered by insurance. This is not an optional service, so this office forces you to pay $55 dollar for this service. I questioned it this time because the price raised from $39 last year. I was told it went down since October. There glasses selection has gone down but the frame prices have increased by about $50 or more a frame putting all frames out of the allotted amount provided by insurance average at $230 per frame. This time I had an appointment at 9:45am. I showed up at 9:30am 2 people that showed up after me were taken back prior to me. Then at 10 am I was taken back for my pretesting which takes all of 5 minutes. There were no rooms available, so I was asked to wait again. I am still sitting in the waiting room just waiting for an open room at 10:30 almost an hour past my scheduled time. Dont get me wrong they are all pleasant in personality and Dr. Teske is a fantastic doctor but I feel like they care more about the business then the patients. I expressed my concerns and they dont really seem to care. I think this is my last visit at this office. Shame because I use to be so happy with them as a whole.

I have been coming to this office for over 6 years to see Dr. Teske. He is good eye doctor however in the past couple of years things have changed in his office. The wait times are always long even with a morning appointment. The office policies have changed and they now force you to pay for what used to be "optional services" and is now required and of course your eye insurance doesnt cover it. Insurance policies dont cover the procedure because this is a procedure/exam that is performed at an actual ophthalmologist office. This is what I was told by my insurance company and by others. The frames prices in the office are extremely high and alot of products they sell there are marked up compared from you purchasing it elsewhere. I was also told I cant purchase 2 weeks of contacts trials when in the past I have been able to. They just want you to purchase their contacts which I choose not to since I can get the same brand cheaper with another company. I feel this place has gone down in patient care and more about making money. If this is how a business is going to be run then I rather go somewhere else that actually appreciates my business and doesnt force services on you that can be covered by another doctor through the insurance. If you keep operating this way, you will continue to lose patients.

I honestly cant say enough FANTASTIC things about this office and everyone there! Ive been a patient for at least 8 years. I moved out of town over 5 years ago and still make it a point to travel back to Tampa for them. I have a difficult prescription which not only makes it hard to find contact lenses that will work for me, but to get just the right size and fit for glasses without them looking like glass bottles. Dr. Teske has consistently been incredibly patient in working with me to find exactly what works best for me. He explains things simply, never brushes off my million questions, works with my ever-changing schedule, and always allows me to make the decision thats best for me. On my latest visit(s) Kevin C was invaluable in helping me chose the best pairs of glasses for me as well as getting the fit just right. (Not to mention, the work their lab performs is unlike any Ive ever seen. As Ive gotten older, my prescription has gotten worse and NO other lab has ever been able to cut my lenses as thin as they do here.) Top notch quality AND service!

My husband and I have been using The Eye Doctors for years now. The doctors , exams and eye care is excellent. However customer service is not. I Went for my annual exam the 3rd week of May and ordered new contact lens which I was told would be in within a week or less. One week later a young lady called me to ask how my new lens were. When I told her I had not even received them yet she looked on her computer and then apologized because they were NOT even ordered ! She said they would be in within a week. I called a week later and was told that the lens were on back order and it would take an additional 7-14 days. Almost the end of June and still no lens ! I took my prescription to Wal-Mart. The lens were delivered to my door within 48 hours !!! This is the second time this has happened to us. Ill continue to get eye care there but theyve lost by confidence in ordering lens .

Yesterday was my first time at this office, and it was the best experience I have ever had with an optometrist. The office was new and modern. The staff was super friendly. Liz, my tech, was very professional and courteous. My optician Erin was eager to help me into the perfect set of frames while being mindful of my budget. I cant say enough about Dr. Nehaul who is hands-down one of the best optometrists Ive ever met. He took the time to explain to me the defects in my vision, gave me foresight to things I may run into in the future, and backed all his statements up with clear cut explainations. The tools and instruments in the office were also state of the art. Dr. Nehaul didnt even need to dilate my eyes to give me a complete exam. I was able to drive home right after my exam without any trouble. This is hands down the greatest experience I have had at the optometrists.
