I was there for one month & was in a private room in rehab! Most of The NURSES were phenomenal and the CNAS were somewhat helpful!! But forget it if you needed a med immediately (for pain etc), cause you would get whatever WHEN it was convenient for the Nurse!! (I did have one daytime nurse that was familiar with my case & would bring it to me ASAP!!!!) SO by the time I got meds, I was frantic with pain (but who cares)!!!!!! The food was very tasty albeit cold most of the time!!!! The CNAS would heat it up IF they werent busy feeding or taking care of other patients. SO, most of the time I was JUST beginning to eat when they came for my tray!!! Of course, I was able to keep my tray until I finished any given meal!! PT & OT for the most part was very good!!! BUT instances happened (mostly on the weekends) where, I along with some older more feeble people, were LEFT ALONE in the main room while the two people "in charge" were in the "work room " jabbering & would not have been able to get to any one of us if we needed immediate help and I cant help but believe that is TREADING ON DANGEROUS WATERS!!!! Who do they think they are anyway!!!!! Thank you God that nothing bad happened!!!!! The Biz office is a complete joke! I tried to turn in my notice of vacating & NO ONE KNEW WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT!!! Soooo I soon enough gave my notice to a "sales person" & he promised he would find out who, what & why to take care of my notice!! Since SO MANY PROMISES had gone UNANSWERED I told him I was going to put down his name & time I turned this timely notice into him!! He stopped messing around with & making funny faces at my situation, & took my notice, made me a copy & took care of it! So,all in all, I CAN NOT GIVE SCEPTER a good/great rating or review!!!! I just wanted to get out of there while I was still breathing. IF YOU HAVE TO PLACE A LOVED ONE THERE & THAT PERSON IS NOT LUCID OR ABLE TO CARE FOR THEMSELVES--- WARNING - BE AWARE THAT SCEPTER MAY NOT BE THE PLACE YOU WOULD WANT TO LEAVE YOUR LOVED ONE IF THEY ARE TOTALLY DEPENDENT ON HELP FROM OTHERS & NOT A FAMILY MEMBER!!! Oh & by the by, my sink was stopped up & leaking onto the floor from day one & even though I was promised several times, IT WAS NEVER FIXED WHILE I WAS THERE!!!! ...and is probably not fixed even now !! Sooooo, even tho this apparently MAY BE "PAR FOR THE COURSE" I STILL WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE!!!!!!

The salesman was amazing and while I knew he was doing a job and selling the place, I was severely disappointed in the facility AFTER my mom was placed here. My mom has required supplemental oxygen 24/7 for the last 4 years. Fifteen minutes after arriving at the facility, she needed to go to the bathroom and couldnt get there because of the short length of the oxygen tubing. So, we called for a nurse. She came in and said "just disconnect it and go to the bathroom"...My mom ended up being wheeled out of there alive, but I should have paid attention to the first red flag. The second day she was there, she was taken to physical therapy, where she was having significant breathing troubles, was dizzy, short of breath, etc. After FIVE minutes, it was realized that the therapist didnt turn her oxygen back on after disconnecting her from the portable oxygen. Incidents like this happened repeatedly. I could go on and on...but, I think you get the point....do not be fooled by an amazing sales staff (who Im sure have absolutely no idea what happens on the unit floor). Thankfully my mom was coherent while she was there, as she was given incorrect dosages of her meds on numerous occasions, which she refused because she knew what she was supposed to take. I am extremely grateful that they were able to keep my mom alive...but I would definitely NOT recommend this place to anyone and would NOT let my mom return there.

This place is the worst place to ever put your family. They were very unprofessional and did not do what they were suppose to do. My mom had sores on her bottom and was suppose to be turned ever 2 hours and most of the time i was there over 5 hours and they wouldnt even come in to check on her or to turn her. The rooms were smelling like urine and the soap dispenser in the bathroom was broken. As I watched people come in and out of the room, they were not washing there hands. The CNA would talk to the patients in a very disrespectful manner. The guy manager did not address anything with his staff, they did what they wanted. I had to threaten to call the state in order for them to do what they are suppose to do. I would not recommend this place to no one, unless you want your family member to go down hill.

This place is the worst place to put your family in. I had to take my father out of there, because of the way he was treated. they didnt clean him well.or wash his mouth. the smell in his room was terrible, I wanted to vomit every time I went there. The last draw was when one caring person there showed me a hole he had in his rear end because they werent turning him when they were suppose to. that A hall smelled every time you walked in the doors. I had to have New London take him out. they were great people, and their place is great and very clean.be ware of that scepter home.

Worst facility i have ever seen. Sorry staff, home smells. My father was in this nursing home and his care was horrible. His items would always come up missing, his personal snacks would disappear as soon as we brought him snacks. When he was placed on placed on hospice he had the worst hospice nurse. When my father transitioned into the death stages, no one came to check on him, no vitals were taken at all. Staff was rude, hospice nurse was very rude and non-caring. I will never refer anybody to this sorry place. They really need to close this place down.

I wrote 2 pages of negative things that I could post about this place but dont want to be sued. All that I will say is that I agree with the previous 2 post 100%. I wont even drive down the street that its on ever again. I had a nightmare experience with this place. P.S. When I visited, it didnt look like the pictures on the website.

Worst place ever. My father died there, left alone for hours. They neglected to heed the DNR policy and we had to take him off the vent. The business office has the rudest people ever. Cant even give this place one star, but they make me do it to post. Run. Run far away from these people.
