I had thought the moon of this office for a long time, even after taking my cat larry to him when he suddenly got lethargic and having what seemed like weakness in a rear leg and he gave him a "steroid shot" saying it seemed like possibly a sprain. Well larry died that night and i called and was told "oh it was probably a blood clot" ok possible no need to distrust until i take larrys mom Puppy who is 13 yrs old in for coughing and losing weight, her temp was fine and she had calmed down (hates car rides) they take her in back and bring her back with a shave throat where they took blood, ($300 for bloodwork) then she went into what appeared to be shock right on the table eyes fixed and dialated, mouth open stiff as can be, i thought she was dying right there, they again take her in back and again "steroid shot" bring her back and it was a good 15 plus minutes until she seemed to come out of whatever. Well i get a call all bloodwork came back fine he says ... she has ASTHMA! Well suggestions? Absolutely none just well if she is having breathing or coughing issues bring her back for another "steroid shot". Ok about 3 wks and she has lost more weight cant keep food down and just noticed her gums are completely white and i have no idea what to do! I have been told in regards to larry that they possibly killed him with a badly placed shot and now seeing Puppy struggle to eat or keep food down and seeming to favor the side where they took blood from her neck makes me wonder why they took it from there on a cat with breathing issues anyway? But not being a vet how would i know but now researching its an odd place to take blood from and the first time and cat has had it taken from their neck at least of all the ones i have had. So now to find a new vet and pray she doesnt die from shock just from the drive she is so weak I will NEVER go back to this dr again. As someone else said ok for shots but then again bergen community animal shelter does those for free

I have had several pets cared for here, but never again. Dr. Ashman failed to recognize the symptoms of poisoning in our dog -- he never did any blood work or thought to ask about poison. It took THREE VISITS over two days before he had us take our dog to an animal hospital in Fairfield. I have no kind words for that place either; even though they immediately diagnosed him, they sent him home after two days (and several thousand dollars) of Vitamin K treatment, and no blood transfusion. He died a day later. If all your pet needs is shots and a checkup, Ashman can do that. But if you think there is anything more serious with your pet, run -- dont walk -- to another vet.

My dog stepped on glass and cut his paw pad open. I called my usual vet and the said they were booked solid and to bring him in and they would try to squeeze him in. I called west Milford Animal Hospital and they said to bring him down. Within 5 minutes of arriving we were in the exam room and getting treated. I was back home with my dog before I would have even arrived at my normal vets office. The staff was extremely friendly and we will be coming here regularly.

Dr Ashman took excellent care of our black lab for almost 13 years. His staff is caring and considerate. He was great with our dog right up to his last days. We now are bringing our new Maltese puppy to him. Dr Ashman is a great vet and I would recommend him to anyone!

Dr. Ashman has taken care of my cats and dogs over the past 15 years. He is always there when you need him; a really good guy and wonderful doctor!
