I normally go to the Grayslake Animal Hospital and have been doing so for decades. They recently discovered a health issue with my 10 year old Cocker Spaniel. They suggested to get a ultrasound on her belly. I went to Buffalo Grove Veterinary Specialty Center. Through examination they discovered that my dogs gallbladder was enlarged and had a high risk for rupture. They recommended emergency surgery to remove it. Now the ultrasound and exam came to just over $500. When presented me with the estimated surgical cost ofo $7600. As a dog owner who treats their pet as one of the family, I was overwelmed with grief, not because of the dire situation with my pet which of coarse was bad but because I knew that the cost of this surgery was financially out of the question. I took my dog home and prepared for her departure. The next day I called Grayslake Animal Hospital and made arragements to put my dog down. I was at work when I was making these arragements when a co-worker suggested to call Fox Lake Animal Hospital. She stated the they maybe more affordable. On her advise I did call and was quoted $1000 to $1200. I immediately cancelled my appointment at Grayslake and gave my dog the chance to live. The surgery went very well. She is getting her stitches out today. The doctor who did the procedure told me my dog took the prize for largest gallbladder he has ever removed. I have read other reviews and they are right. Fox Lake Animal Hospital isnt the prettiest of vet clinics, and yes the receptionists may not be all sunshine and rainbows all the time but frankly they do seem to care about the health your pet. It is not the place to go if you are looking for a pet day spa although Buffalo Grove Veterinary Specialty Center might be a great choice. In short the Fox Lake Animal Hospital saved my dogs life and I for one am grateful. Thank you Fox Lake Animal Hospital.

This place was heaven sent. My cat needed a leg amputation and I was looking at places that were going to be way out of my price range …from as high as $3,400 and the lowest I found was $2,100 from a vet who had never done an amputation before. The price that the Fox Lake Animal Hospital was $750 (with some additional prices for extras – but my vet did those extras and it would have been cheaper had I done it with them). The staff were very pleasant (and busy), the place was dated but clean. The place is always busy, but I was told that a dead time is around 1pm, since I was scheduled for surgery there was no wait, just a drop off. Im sure that there were certain sacrifices that I had to give up by using them, they were not able to do an IV drop during surgery which I think my 15 year old cat needed (shes had that during other surgeries) and I was not given pain patches which I think would have been more comfortable for her. But considering I was facing the decision of putting down a healthy cat vs amputating her leg - I couldnt have been more pleased with the quality of care that I was given here. Dr. Rudawski seems to have a HUGE heart and really care about the animals he services. He also has a very light and positive sense of humor. Thank you so much for helping me extend the life of my sweet little mush pot.

Im telling anyone reading this, if you need low cost vet care for your pet, go here!! Yes, it is a walk in clinic so you do have to wait your turn but its worth it. Our puppy managed to eat some rocks and had an obstruction in his intestine and the only way to fix it was surgery. The other vet quoted us $1500-$2500. We were so worried about how we would pay for it. I called this place, told them our situation and they said if we couldnt pay the full amount, we could pay 60% when we picked him up and the remaining balance over the next 3 months. This is the only place that was willing to do some kind of payment arrangement (based on the fact that it was an emergency). Turns out, we were able to pay the amount in full because this clinic cares about its patients getting the care they need without costing a fortune. We ended up spending under $1000 for a surgery that was quoted to be most likely around $2000. The surgeon that performed the surgery specifically told me that he cannot justify someone having to go without care for their pet/having them put down because of money. I couldnt be more thankful for this clinic in saving our fur babys life and doing it much more economically!! I will definitely return to this hospital; the 50 minute drive was well worth it!

Best surgeon, best prices, loves animals! I was recommended to Dr Bo years ago by my former animal surgeon Dr Gendreau(Founder of Veterinary Specialty Clinic in Buffalo Grove). I was going through a very wicked, and expensive divorce, and could not, at that time afford another $3500 surgery. So Dr Bo did the surgery for a fraction of the price. My dog was back running around in no time, and I was thrilled. I live too far to go to them on a regular basis, but for major medical issues or surgeries, there is no one else but Dr Bo! I have sent numerous rescues to him, and my friends Dog for chemo, they were all thrilled, and now only use Dr Bo! Oh and one referral said, I love what the guy did for my dog, but he is not very personable. My response, he may not have people skills, but he has wicked surgical skills. So are you looking to marry the guy, or have him fix your animal!

My Airedale of 7 years was bleeding from his nose badly. I took him to this vet and waited 45 minutes just for them to give him a blood test which ended me paying $100. Vet told me he would call me the next day with results, I never ended up getting a call. After 3 days later he finally decided to get a hold of me and just told me to come in again for more blood results. I took him to the ER Vet in Crystal Lake, and found out he had a brain tumor. Which they told me on the SPOT, with no blood results. Which they ended up taking within 5 minutes and determined it was a brain tumor by a follow up call they gave me the next day. They gave me medication which extended his life 8 more months. I would rate this Vet 0 stars, but unfortunately I have to pick at least one. If you want a vet that is cheap, AND reliable you should go to the Wonder Lake Vet. Not FOX LAKE.

I am absolutely upset with this animal hospital. I recently rescued a dog and the people I got him from were not taking care of him per animal control. they asked me for a letter stating I have custody of the animal and I explained that they were not in contact anymore it took me 2 days to finally get a letter from the original owners and when I called they said to email it to them and they would scan and send the information to me... Its been 3 days now and when I called back they still have not done it and seem rude on the phone. I have had to jump through the hoops to get this email and my dog is skinny and I need to know what history that he has and they just seem to not give a crap about the animals well being! I was thinking about taking him here since they have seen him and Now i will NEVER go here!
