Please note, this is an unsolicited review. I was never asked by any of the staff or dentists to offer my feedback. This is written because I know how difficult it can be to find a medical professional, let alone a honest review of one. We are somewhat new to the area and attempted to find a "local" dentist for my two young boys (4 and 7) right after we moved. Originally, we were directed to a popular Mt. Airy pediatric dental group. They did a good job, but it was difficult to get an appointment, a very busy office, and it felt like we were just another nickel in their pocket. Needless to say, I thought we could do better for our kids (and us). We live the Sykesville/Eldersburg area and wanted something closer to home. After reading the reviews, I decided to give Freedom Dental a try and Im glad we did. From the moment we walked in the door, it was a markedly better experience than the "other" dental office. The receptionist greeted my pensive boys by name with a big welcoming smile. We had a seat in the comfortable waiting area while I filled out the obligatory paperwork (FYI, I recommend going to their website and filling the new patient form out ahead of time). Less than 5 minutes after arrival, the boys were called back for their appointment. Julie, the hygienist, gave us a quick tour (making sure to point out the AWESOME play room and the TVs on the ceiling). To make a long story short, its a great, modern dental office with everything you would hope it would have for both adults and kids. But my favorite part...it was VERY clean! Most medical offices are sanitary, but this place appeared to be both. All of us felt comfortable. Both Dr. Corey, the dentist, and Julie, the hygienist explained everything to the kids (while they watched Netflix on the tv attached to the ceiling) and knew exactly how to control the appointment in an appropriate manner. We never felt rushed and everyone took time to listen to my concerns and address them. Neither of my boys were in pain during any part of the visit and they left with a positive attitude and a desire to "visit" again. Of course, it did help that there was a treasure chest for each of them to choose a prize from at the end. I will be returning to Freedom Dental for my checkup (its been a while, so it could be a little rough) in 3 weeks, and Im confident it will go just as well for me as it did for my boys. If necessary, Ill post an update from my own experience. As a side note, we were unable to get a new patient appointment with Dr. Burchett for more than 3 months so we took an appointment with Dr. Corey. It was only a 2 week wait and thats because I wanted back-to-back time slots. Anyway, I had the opportunity to meet BOTH of the dentists during todays visit and was equally impressed with each of them. I would recommend Freedom Dental for the whole family. Its a well-run, patient oriented practice. I have never written a review for a business before, but it was such a good experience, I wanted to share it with others!

I am a new patient as of today. It had been 3 years since my last dental visit (a former dentist, who shall not be named because he was terrible) and the entire Freedom staff took great care with me. I was treated so pleasantly by Morgan, the admin, Julie, the Dental Hygienist, and the dentist, Dr. Corey (forgive any spell errors). Not only were they super-efficient, respectful of my time, and courteous, their facility was immaculate. Their facility is top-notch, especially concerning the patients. They ingeniously have TVs with Roku players not only in the corner of the room but in the ceiling for a great distraction! I found myself not really focusing on the TV but having a back-and-forth (when I was able to) with Julie, my dental hygienist. For anyone with kids, those TVs will be a great relief from the anxiety that comes with necessary dental work. Julie was absolutely incredible, so attentive and comfortable. She is such a valuable asset to the practice. I cant say enough wonderful things about her! Dr. Corey was very knowledgeable, focused, and extremely pleasant. She will be handling my future fillings, so Im glad I am in her more-than-capable hands. It was, hands-down, the best experience Ive ever had at a dentist. I recommended them to my wife and hopefully this review expresses this true gem of a dental practice in Sykesville. Congrats to them! I cant recommend them more highly. Updated review (April 22, 2015) Julie Gaffney is the best ever! Seriously, the best! Dr. B was talking like Sean Connery during my entire visit, which I loved. The care was very professional and personal. It is such a great experience every time I see them!! A+!

I was very pleased with the office staff as they are very welcoming. The first thing that was done was to repair a broken front tooth. It looked great but was as rough as cement and I had to ask to have it smoothed on my next visit. Dr. Burchett then did something strange and filed the bottom of a 30 year old crown which in turn had it loosen and is now in need of a new crown. I will now have to pay an additional $1200 for a crown that was not needed until she tampered with the old one. Also I was very disappointed when I had an old filling in jaw tooth drilled out which she broke and was told I will have to need a crown but had to wait almost 4 months to get an appointment. Dr. Burchett made sure that she depleted my coverage for the year which made me pay out of pocket for a crown for the tooth that was left with a large hole in it and I was fearful of breaking the remaining shell.

The staff is very friendly and kind, especially when you go in for an appointment. The biggest issue is that appointments are quite hard to find. I made an appointment mid-January for a filling that had fallen out, from a previous procedure done at this office 2 years prior. I could only do appointments after 1pm. They had booked me for mid-March (a 2 month wait), however they said that they would be sure to call me if and when someone cancels their appointment. My Mid-March appointment was cancelled because of the snow, understandably so. The next appointment they had was mid-may (another 2 months away), no attempt to fit me earlier. The wait time is too excessive, even without a snow day thrown in. Dental Care at Eldersburg Commons fit me in within 2 weeks, not two months. Caring staff at Freedom Dental Care, unfair wait times.

I had my first appointment with Freedom Dental Care yesterday and loved it! The entire staff is so friendly and personable. Julie and Dr. Khoury were great! My cleaning, as well as my examination, was very thorough. Hands down, it was the best experience Ive ever had at a dental appointment. I used to dread going to the dentist, but this practice has changed that. I am beyond impressed with Freedom Dental Care. From now on Ill be looking forward to my appointments there!
