Hi Oswego Animal Hospital, We just wanted to say Thank you again to the entire staff of Oswego Animal Hospital and Dr. Jacobson, for Always treating us and our pup; Sierra with the utmost respect and courtesy! We have been to many different animal hospitals over the years with different dogs, but not until Oswego Animal Hospital, have we found where Everyone is so genuinely concerned about our pet and us (the pet “owners). I could name some names at the facility, but that would not be the exact situation, as not everyone’s name is remembered and the entire staff/employees all exhibit professionalism and love for our pet’s needs. Just shortly after we obtained our pup from the shelter in Naperville and then taking her to the suggested/affiliated animal hospital for the shelter, for her spaying and other initial checkup… we started taking our Sierra to Oswego Animal Hospital. It has been nearly two years now we have had Sierra visiting Oswego Animal Hospital, for general checkups, shots, regular grooming and even re-constructive patella surgery! With every visit, whatever the reason, everyone loves on Sierra. Pet owner and pet are treated with genuine care! We have never had the great feelings from any place we have had any previous pets taken to, that we get from Oswego Animal Hospital! Two weeks ago, we had a scare (we thought) with our pup. She was out in the backyard playing around in the snow, she slipped and appeared to have injured her knee she had corrective surgery done (so wonderfully by Dr. Jacobson and crew). Sierra was laying down in the yard with her leg out to the side. We thought she may have popped-out her knee. We immediately tended to her and although she seemed to be fine, we contacted Oswego Animal Hospital and an appointment for that afternoon was available (or made available for us), to bring her in to see Dr. Jacobson. Once again everyone treated us with that special touch. When I say everyone at Oswego Animal Hospital, I mean everyone; even attendants that do some maintenance/clean up are so kind to us each time we visit! This most recent visit was no different to any other visits in regards to the care and attention given by all. Dr. Jacobson without any hesitation examined Sierra and discussed openly any concerns for the matter (which were none really). Dr. Jacobson is so willing to talk and answer questions of any kind from us and is so gentle with our pup! The patella surgery being right at one year ago, and all healed up fine. Dr. Jacobson felt the surgery is still all intact and well, but also did not hesitate to do an X-ray, just for safety sake and to be sure all is still all healed up as is should be. And it was. We were able to once again leave Oswego Animal Hospital with knowing that we have taken our “baby” Sierra to a place where the best possible care she could receive, is exactly what was done. Oswego Animal Hospital is very highly rated as a top-notch, caring organization in our opinion. Thank you to the entire Oswego Animal Hospital organization for being a caring, animal loving and professional, and down to earth organization! Please continue to grow in this way for the community and the love and care you give to the animals and their “owners”.

You have to be so careful where you bring your pets. Especially ones that need serious medical care and are very sick. ie.; not eating or eliminating, vomiting, weight loss, or any other serious symptoms or conditions. I went there only once to have my dog euthanized because I knew he was very sick and I did not want to prolong or drag out his inevitable misery, he was an older dog with diabetes, etc. I asked for a quiet room where they perform euthanisia. Many hopsitals have this type of set up. Not here unfortunately, at least that is what I was told. It was very busy and I waited in a room that was next to the main lobby with loud barking dogs that I am sure made my dog feel even worse in his already sickly state. Not to mention very stressful for us all. As I waited for a long time, the staff came in meanwhile and they were so worried about getting my credit card up front to pay first. I told her can it wait and they were insistent and I thought that was very inappropriate considering the circumstances. This was all done while I waited in tears by my beloved dogs side, waiting for what I wanted to be a peaceful and loving departure. Just the opposite happened. The vet that came in was callous and rushed, and she had no compassion for the situation. She was more inappropriately worried about being bitten and keeping him restrained while she administered the fatal dose of propofol. The dog was a small Silky Yorkshire Terrier and was too sick to even do a thing. The whole time he just laid there and didnt even move his head. I assured her of that, knowing my dog very well. I should have complained to management about how the place is being operated and how staff are trained to handle sensitive situations. But I regretfully did not. Be careful when you see a lot of Google high ratings on any place....are they real or fake??? Just be very careful when you go to this hospital. I am willing to give them another chance but I will do more research first.

We started doing business with OAH back around 2002 by my best guess. It may have been before that, Im not exactly sure. We live back in Naperville now, and we still haul out pets out to Oswego to THIS hospital. Oh I can tell you all about their great customer service and how they take good care of my animals, all of that is true, but that isnt really why. We can get a smile and good care less than a mile from my house if thats all that it was about. This is about being caring and decent human beings that go out of their way to help your family. A vet & vet tech that made house calls because my 18 year old cat got so upset in a carrier that we thought she was going to have a heart-attack before getting to Oswego. Someone that didnt mind dropping off prescription meds on her way home so I didnt have to drive all the way out to Oswego to pick it up. People that put up with my little dog, who had only one tooth left in his old age but darn sure knew how to use it. People that were honest enough to not only tell us our options, but cared enough to make recommendations from a personal place instead of not saying something and just hoping we did the right thing. The care and kindness of every...single... staff member....every.... single..... time. They laughed, and cried, with us. Im crying a bit now sitting here writing this, because I am remembering loved ones gone. Im sharing that with you because this is exactly why. I know my babies had the best possible care their entire lives because of these people. I would walk my dog out there before Id take them elsewhere. So for Clancy, and Kiki and Loki and the long lives they had with us.......thank you......all of you.

I would never return!!! PLEASE READ Before taking your pet here!!! We took our dog here as she was refusing to eat and it had been a week. After $$$ testing the results were inconclusive. We were told she needed a teeth cleaning but were very surprised as she had just had a cleaning 6 months prior at our previous vet. When we got her back we were told she had 10 teeth extracted (a few due to infection but others mostly due to crowding). Our poor dog now has no occluding teeth in the front and is only able to chew on one side. The extractions for crowding were highly unnecessary and now my dog will have difficulty chewing/eating for the remainder of her life. After two and a half weeks of not eating, her health severely declining, and multiple inconclusive visits here we decided to get a second opinion. We rushed her to a local animal hospital where they took a simple ultrasound and rushed her into surgery where they found four foreign objects in her stomach and intestines. The second vet was horrified when he saw the unnecessary extractions and how poorly they were done and said there was no justifiable evidence that she needed a teeth cleaning in the first place. There was so much damage to her body from the objects being in there for so long that they had to remove a foot of her intestines and a portion of her stomach. This could of simply been caught at the initial visit but was prolonged and our dog had to suffer in the meantime- not to mention the thousands of dollars we spent in testing and doctors visits. Please get a second opinion and choose your vet very wisely!!!!
