I was going to a dentists in Fairfield that said I needed my wisdom teeth extracted and a panoramic x-ray of my mouth. Not having the ability to do this themselves they referred me to a few places in Fairfield. Living in Milford, I looked online in the area and found Dr. Calcaterra’s office. The website is incredible. All of the information that I was looking for was there. After reading this information on the website I felt reassured of my worries and was intrigued to check out this facility. Before contacting the office I asked my brother who he and his family were going to as they live in Orange and he said Dr. Calcaterra. I was so surprised – what a coincidence. I took a chance and sent an online request for consultation – I listed mainly tooth extraction (wisdom teeth) and as a potential new client. Hours later I received a personal email from the doctor and a friendly inquiry asking if I was related to certain family members. Mainly my brother and his family. He also told me that his staff would be calling me that day to set up some time for a visit. They did in fact call me and were very nice to speak with over the phone – I set up an appointment and met Dr. Calcaterra and his staff that day. Everyone was very professional, courteous and pleasant. I felt at ease. Dr. Calcaterra did a consult with me and answered all my questions. He said he could do the task at hand and if I wanted could become a regular client I could certainly do so. As he stated, “let’s take care of the wisdom teeth removal and then if you decided to go with us as your primary dentistry we would love to have you.” What a nice thing to say – it gave me the option to have the work done and walk away or stay long term. Both as a child and in my adult years I have spent a lot of time in the chair. I have had a few root canals done, crowns and many fillings replaced. In a way I would rather swim with sharks in the ocean than go to the dentist….exaggerating ;). Well, I ended up setting a date for my two upper wisdom teeth to be removed. It went smooth was better than I expected. Good communication at all times – I knew exactly what was happening and what to expect. I did not feel one ounce of pain during the procedure. I was so impressed. The office is cutting edge with latest technology – everything is electronic and the machines are all up to date state of the art. I am switching to Dr. Calcaterra as my primary dentist. He and his staff are truly ‘the best’ for me.

I have developed severe dentist phobia in the last few years and I try to avoid the dentist whenever possible. A few months ago I cracked my tooth and I did not know what to do. Just the thought of having to have it repaired was enough to make me nauseous. I did not want to go to my family dentist because the last time I was there I could feel them drilling during a filling!!! I remembered that Dr. Calcaterra had seen me once at my family dentist when he used to work there and I remembered how for once, I wasnt scared! I knew he had left the practice but I googled him and found his practice! When I was looking online, I saw how informative and informational his website was and I started to feel at ease. I called a few days later and spoke to Judy at the front desk who was so nice to me and really helped me to feel comfortable. She helped me with all the paperwork and assured me that I would be in good hands! I went in for my check and Dr. Calcaterra assessed what needed to be done. He remembered me and my dentist phobia and was so accommodating, making sure I felt comfortable the entire time. When I went for my procedure, everything went smoothly (from what I can remember haha I had conscious sedation) and it felt like it only lasted 2 minutes. Dr. Calcaterra even called me later that night to make sure I was feeling alright. I cant tell you how amazing it has been to actually bite into a cookie or a candy bar and not have to stop after the first bite because of my cavities!! I am overjoyed. I havent felt this confident about my teeth in so long! Calcaterra Family Dentistry is such a wonderful place with super nice staff, accommodating hours and the desire to make you feel as comfortable as possible. Dr. Calcaterra is so great and I have been recommending him to all my friends! Thank you for the great experience and I will see you for my 6 month check up! :)

I am very scared of the dentist. Due to some years of neglect and dry mouth from medication my teeth needed quite a bit of work done. I hesitated to get it done due to past negative experiences. I went ahead and called their office and Judy the receptionist spoke to me for over 20 minutes regarding my teeth, my concerns and any questions I had. I never had a dental office ease my anxiety just from a phone call they way she did. Then I made the appointment and Dr Calcaterra discussed all of my options with me. He was polite, kind and took all of my concerns seriously. I was very pleased with the level of care and quality of work I received from this dental office. The best part? I was never judged. Dentists in the past have lectured me and put me down for the state of my teeth. Their office was the opposite. Regardless of what problems you may have, big or small, they just want to help. I have called with concerns and Dr Calcaterra has always called me back promptly. He even squeezed me in twice on very short notice when I was in pain. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who needs a dentist. I am moving soon and I am sad because I finally found a good dentist that took great care of me!

I hate the dentist and everything about it. Ive had horrible and uncomfortable experiences in the PAST until I was guided to give the Calcaterras a shot. Absolutely phenomenal service by all staff. I still find the idea of going to the dentist not exciting, but theyve definitely made it extremely tolerable and they have my business for the remainder of my dental needs. Ive had a multitude of elaborate filling repairs executed through sedation dentistry and its like I was never there. Really warming experience... cant believe I just said that, but its true. The entirety of the staff has also been exceptional at providing the "patient" with at times, some odd requests. Whether its to explain the entire procedure or to change the TV station, great all around satisfactory service. Reading the other reviews, you guys really needed to be called out on your fantastic service that others didnt mention well enough. Thank you. - Paul Sekas

I am an out of state college student at the University of New Haven. I decided to stay in West Haven for the summer to take a summer class and to work. I also needed to get my wisdom teeth removed, before they could give me any problems. I found the Calcaterra Family Dentistry through a Google search and I am so happy that I did. I met with Dr. Calcaterra and Erica, a dental assistant, to go over what to expect when getting my wisdom teeth out. He ensured me that it would be simple and nothing to worry about. After getting all four wisdom teeth out, I can say I healed perfectly and did not experience a single complication. I was back on my feet the following day. Dr. Calcaterra and his team really took care of me from the moment I walked in. Not having either of my parents in the area really made me feel like someone was looking out for me. I am happy that I have found such a wonderful dentist out here to continue to visit.
