Dr. Cook saved me in so many different ways. Where do I even start. First of all my self-esteem was so low from hospitals and other doctors who made me feel it was my fault and treated me like a worthless junkie. Dr. Cook truly cares and was the very first person to ever explain to me that I am a victim. To not feel ashamed and I have never once felt belittled there. He genuinely cares about your well-being, how your life is going and most importantly are you happy and how can he help. The staff is amazing and God bless Angie she is an angel. Im very forgetful and terrible at remembering dates and she will get me in the day I call with no hesitation. She always has an amazing upbeat personality. They were going on vacation for I believe it was over a week and she actually called me because I forgot my appointment so I could rush down there and get my medicine so I wouldnt go without. I can guarantee you not to many offices or people working there would care enough to call and make sure you get in before they go on vacation. I read one of the reviews that upset me a little bit because "Greedy " or as I believe it was put they will overcharge. My very first visit they went out of their way to try and get my insurance to approve my medicine and visit. When my insurance didnt approve the office visit Dr. Cook and his staff cut my bill in half and gave me coupons to reduce the cost of the medicine. Ive had a really hard time being here in Chicago alone and no help. They make me feel like family there and I cant stress it enough they will work with you in any situation. I just had a visit yesterday and as usual Dr. Cook asked me about my personal and family life ,because I must mention also before I forget Dr. Cook has dealt with my meltdowns very well when most doctors wouldnt even tolerate being emotional and basically a basket case over your personal life lbvs I went off in there and he handled it so well calmed me down and we talked it out. So yesterday when I started talking about my personal life he gave me the best advice and I used it. When you basically have no one to talk to but your doctor who feels like a friend to me now. I trust his opinion and know that he means me nothing but good. Im estranged from all my family . Dr. Cook reminded me to do the right thing and I was in turmoil about it. Im so glad I took his advice. You will never regret going to his office his staff will go out of their way to make sure that you get the proper treatment . Thank you Dr. Cook and of course I cant forget you Angie for always getting me in last minute and working with me. There are not enough words to thank you guys ! So to anybody that had any doubts I really want you to know that it will be the best decision youve ever made choosing Dr. Cook and his staff!

Ive been seeing Dr. Cook regularly for 8 years now. Ive seen him for everything from depression and anxiety to splinters and high blood pressure. His practice is unique. Its a teaching practice, meaning that a lot of the staff are local medical students. They are learning how to treat, so that means your visits will take time. Theyll be incredibly thorough. The office is great about not keeping patients waiting, but plan on spending some time talking to the students while they gather information for Dr. Cook. The students will take your vitals, talk with you about any issues youre having, and thoroughly document your conversation. Dr. Cook will review all this and come see you with his students. When hes explaining the patients situation with his students, youll hear and learn more information than you would at any regular medical practice. If youre interested in taking control of your own health and want a medical environment that sincerely encourages the patents engagement, make an appointment and try it out. Dr. Cook cares more than any other medical professional Ive met; and more than most people I know in general. Im not surprised by all the five star ratings in here. Im not surprised by the one star ratings in here either -- when youre dealing with health, it can be very scary. Its sounds like people are just lashing out because of fear and frustration with their situation. Notice that the five-star reviews seem more thoughtful and detailed. Dr. Cook might not be the right doctor for everybody, but if his practice is a good match for you, youll be one of the luckiest people in Chicago.

This doctor ran test that I did not ask for, then used those tests to misdiagnose me with an extremely rare disease that is not diagnosed by blood test, but is diagnosed only after symptoms appear because 20% of the normal healthy population would test positive for the disease and never actually show symptoms or have it. He told me that the disease is especially difficult to describe in non-doctor terms, so I should Google it when I get home and come back in a week with questions. When I told him that the info I found online said that the disease is only diagnosed after symptoms arrive and that 20% of the normal healthy population would come back with a positive test result, he told me its just a matter of time and that hes not there to make me feel better. He caused a year and a half of emotional anguish because even after a specialist told me that I do not have that disease, I still heard his words that its just a matter of time. He then proceeded to misdiagnose my husband who was having extreme abdominal pain with anxiety and put him on antidepressants. My husband is in the hospital tonight having emergency gallbladder surgery. Every single doctor in that hospital rolled their eyes when my husband said that Dr. Cook diagnosed it as anxiety. Dr. Cook is, in my opinion, dangerous. He should stick with counseling, rather than treating actual medical conditions. I would give him 0 stars if I could.

If you are under or considering testosterone replacement therapy, I would avoid Dr. Cook. His protocols are outdated. For example, he will not allow you to self-inject. He will do injections, however, you are required to go to his office every two weeks. Anybody with a rudimentary understanding of TRT realizes that such a protocol results in peaks and valleys in testosterone levels leaving the patient feel as if they are on an emotional roller coaster. Moreover, if you have been under the care of physician for TRT and then go see Dr. Cook, he will require you to crash your testosterone in order to determine that you are in fact testosterone deficient. I am sure that would be a great two weeks for a patient.

Dr. Cook is absolutely the best out there! Being a gay man/parent, he has been there for me in every part of my life for the last 20+ years. Even though I live in Plainfield, IL, it is absolutely worth the drive to see him. He understands me because he take the time to get to know me and my family. Im almost 50 years old. Ive seen plenty of doctors. No one even compares to this man! Simply the best!
